“Well, this is a pleasant surprise.” Princess Sally said. Sonic had
spent the night in Beans room while he continued his lookout. Once everyone
had woken up, Bean thought it a good time to re-introduce sonic.
“I found him outside the base early this morning.” Bean explained.
“Did he tell you why he got lost or how he got back?” Sally asked
“No, he was tired and needed a rest.” Bean answered.
“Well zen, let us now to be finding out why.” Antoine said, annoyed.
Bark the polar bear let out a low growl.
“Well, I got lost because I couldn’t see. Then I just... ran back
here.” Sonic said, leaving out the part about Aaron, Ray, and Tails.
“Zat is to be impossible. Not one could get out of a storm like zat
alive, much less unscarred.” Antoine said.
“Well I did! By myself!” Sonic lied.
“Look, does it really matter? He got back and is safe.” Bean said.
“Beans right. Sonic is back and that’s good enough for me.” Sally said.
“Do you wish to continue freedom fighting, Sonic the hedgehog?”
“Of course! It’s practically all I know!” Sonic replied
enthusiastically.
“Well then, that’s that. You all are dismissed.” Sally said as she
closed the meeting. Antoine quickly got out of his seat, almost knocking it
down in the process, and left first. Then Bunnie, Mina, Sonic, Bean, and Bark
left in order. Sally opened up another door inside the meeting room and left
last.
“Ok Bark, what’s wrong?” Bean said after the others had left to their
quarters.
“Nothing.” Bark replied.
“Come on, we all herd you’re growl, if it wasn't coming from Sonic’s
stomach that is.” Bean said.
“Hey, leave me out of this.” Sonic said.
“It’s Antoine again. Grr. Sometimes I just wanna rip out his...” Bean
started.
“Calm down there, big fella’. You know that’s just how Antoine is.”
Bean cut Bark off.
“How can you say that? You know it’s him who is the reason the blue one
here was left behind!” Bark roared, but not too loud. Sonic, who was next to
Bean, suddenly got interested.
“You mean Ant is the reason I was left to die?!” Sonic asked.
“It was his job to make sure you got to the van safe! It was him who
said that we were all in the van and ready to go! It was him who wouldn’t
take the blame and placed it on everyone else! It was all him, blue one!”
Bark said angrily. At this, Bark entered his own quarters. Bean sighed.
“Bark and I have always been friends. But he has problems with his
anger. He doesn’t talk much but whene he does it’s usually to express his
anger.” Bean told Sonic.
“ But what I don’t understand iid why no one said that Antoine was
lying!” Sonic said.
“Because it wouldn’t help. Antoine is seconded in command and what he
say’s usually goes without a second opinion.” Bean said.
“Why does Sal trust him so much?” Sonic asked.
“She’s just trusting person. And she trusts Antoine above any of us.
Like I said, he’s second in command.” Bean said.
“Yeah, but she’s princess! And she should be making most of the
decisions.” Sonic said. Bean shrugged.
“And why is Ant in second command anyway? Why not someone good, like
you?” Sonic asked.
“Because the D’cooletts had been guards for the royal kingdom for as
long as any of us can remember. They were partly royalty in the kingdom!
Since Sally and Antoine are the last of any linage, they betrothed to each
other to keep the royal line. That’s two reasons why he’s in charge.” Bean
said.
“Ant with Sal? Geez, this other dimension is stranger than I thought!”
Sonic said.
“I’m sure you’re world would seem strange to me also.” Bean said.
“Ok, I know Antoins story, now what about you?” Sonic asked.
“ My full name is Bean Dynamite Duck. I was born a few years before the
coup. After Robotnick took over, my mother, Dyana, was able to hid with me in
Robotropolis. I still don’t know why she didn’t try to escape with me. She
would smuggle food in once a week. Eventually, I grew older and my mother
thought I was old enough to try to escape with her. Whene we tried to leave,
she was captured. I didn’t have time to turn back, and kept on my mad dash
for the border. I barely made it, but I lost my arm for an award. I wandered
around for about a month until I ran into Bean while exploring the Great
forest one day. He led me to knothole, where Sally, Antoine, and he lived. I
lived there for along time and became a freedom fighter. Then Rotor came and
destroyed Knothole. Me, Bark, Antoine, and Sally escaped and have been living
here since, continuing our never ending struggle for freedom.” Bean
explained.
“Come to think of it, just what is this place anyway?” sonic asked.
“It’s was an abandoned lab of some sort. We don’t know what for,
because there were no documents and just a few broken phials. And judging by
the security codes that this place has, whoever it was wanted it secret. It
took us forever to find, and even longer to unlock. Once we found the control
panel, we were able to change all the access codes. Sally added the retinal
scan.” Bean explained.
“Okay, so what about Mina and Bunnie? They weren’t in Knothole?” Sonic
asked.
“Yeah. Mina was part of a desert biker gang that consisted of herbivore
hyenas and mongoose. Her group was captured by Rotor. She was able to escape
but the same couldn’t be said fro her family and others. Bark found her one
day and she gladly excepted being a freedom fighter.” Bean said.
“And Bunnie?” Sonic asked.
“ Bunnie’s from the south, if you haven’t already noticed. She was
captured when her town was attacked. She was subjected to a new experimental
Robotization process that changed the furry from the inside out. Most of her
bones and nerves are robotic, but her heart and lungs were spared. Bark had
been able to save her before the process was finished. She has enhanced
acrobatic abilities and strength, though she isn’t as strong as Bark.
“Seems Bark is the main recruiter here.” Sonic said.
“He’s a strong and loyal freedom fighter. He came from Mobius’ polar
region, like Rotor. He knew him better than anyone. Bark to this day claims
that the reason for Rotors madness was that he was away from his home.
Anyway, the region was destroyed and most everyone captured. Bark and Rotor
were able to get to the great forest and Knothole soon after Sally and
Antoine had got there.”
“Tell me more about Rotor.” Sonic said.
“Rotor always was messed up whene he had gotten to Knothole., but he
was also very smart. He designed all of our weapons, including the guns me
and Sally use today. On day his mind finally snapped for some reason. He left
Knothole in the night and we didn’t see him for a long time. Then Knothole
was attacked by super swat bots and worker bots. A flying megaphone announced
that Rotor had killed Robotnick and was in charge. Plus he had created that
DNA roboticizer I already told you about.” Bean explained.
“So, now I know everyone's’ stories. Now what?” Sonic asked. Bean
shrugged.
“ I don’t--” Bean was cut off by the blaring of a siren. Sonic and Bean
got up, quickly opened the door, and followed the other freedom fighters who
where going to the meeting room.
“What the hoo-ha is going on here, Sally girl? I was takin’ a shower
when that thing started blaring.” Said Bunnie, in a towel.
“We have a problem Freedom fighters.” Sally said.
End chapter 7. What do you think? Good? I got alot of things explained now,
including the Freedom Fighters’ base and their history. Next chapter will be
full of action.
