Peter Vroom had not appeared on television before playing Lance on Home and Aay. He had done a variety of jobs beforehand including one as a motor mechanic and another as a deckhand on a ferry. He left school in 1984.

Peter was a bit annoyed thateveryone expected him to be like Lance in real life.

"Most people are great" he said "What i hate about all this is that people who put themselves out of my league before are suddenly coming up to me and being nice."

Peter sometimes yearned to get into what he called "more proper" acting. "Every now and again we have a really serious, good scene and i enjoy doing it" he said. "But I like comedy too.'

Peter says about Lance and Martin "Lance and Martin are definitely drinkers....Critics did slam the show for lack of realism in the characters, but you have to be a bit responsible with so many kids watching. Lance and Martin can't swear either, although I don't know why they change the scripts because the average fifteen-year-old swears like a trooper."
