Born in Birmingham in 1938, actor Barry Jackson also acted as a fight arranger under the stage name Jack Barry. His acting career has spanned a period of over 40 years!
He has appeared three times in Doctor Who. First as the mute assassin Ascaris from The Romans who is tasked with killing the Doctor. Secondly as Jeff Garvey in Mission to the Unknown, he didn't get to say many words in this story though as he was shot down and transformed into a Varga plant! His last role was as the Doctor's Timelord academy companion Drax in The Armageddon Factor.
Barry's many other TV appearances include Adam Adamant, Doomwatch, Softly, Softly, Poldark, Blake's 7, The Professionals, All Creatures Great and Small, Lovejoy, Into the Labyrinth, Bergerac, Casualty, A Touch of Frost, Heartbeat.
