i love this show. when it first aired here in australia in 1991 (or around then), i didn't know about it. but one day i saw the episode when matt got shot by a school friend, and i fell in love with the show. then i saw one where zac and his friends attac ed a goose, or something. and he prayed to god and his hands started bleeding! then i saw one where kim was kidnapped and held prisoner in a sound-proof basement. then i saw one of the last ones where there was a tornado heading towards the town and zac w nt to warn kim. sorry, i'm babbling... i really like this show, and i wish it was still on in australia. but we have to make room for shows like 7th heaven, dawson's creek and charmed (all of which i like). see ya. p.s: are there ever going to be any more episodes?

I loved the show when it was on and I do miss it. I was seven when the show came on and Zach was the closest to my age so he was my fav. character then and so was his mom b/c I have wanted to become a doctor since I knew what growing up ment. I also liked to have some one to look up to and Kimberly became that person. Picket Fences was a great show and had great actors, but if CBS decided to bring it back next season most of the actors that played the parts wouldn't be coming back with it and that was what made it so good. Picket Fences is one of the most meaningful tv shows of this decade (perhaps others). While it showed that in life there is not always an easy answer to everything the ending of each episode always left a definitive message delivered by an absolutely terr fic and talented cast. The thing I liked most from this series is that no matter how different people are, no matter how different people think, no matter what their backgrounds are, somehow all the characters in this town lived together and they may not dmit it and they may not even realize it but they are truly a family. i began watching in the 2nd season and was hooked instantly. now, i have all episodes on tape and have eatched each one no fewer than 10 times. i know the scripts by heart. what a show! two of my favorite episodes included the dancing bandit. they were gr at storylines. marlee matlin looked great in the later epsisodes once her hair returned to normal. holly marie combs was fabulous. i don't care for the show she's in now-charmed, but sometimes watch it just to see her. all of us diehard fans need to write david e kelley productions and request a reunion movie or episode. also, we need to request that fx put the show back on at night-it has more effect then as opposed to the am slot.

Truly a great show. Every episode is excellent. Unfortunately, though, I do beleive the last season made each character too frail and each character's credibility suffered. this was true especially for Judge Bone, Jimmy Brock, Carter Pike, and the police department as a whole. Will far too many tragedies and far too many imperfections exposed during this season the characters were left battered. There was nothing left that could be tragic without being contrived. The writers, although brilliant during the last season, ended teh show on their own. The characters had gone as far as they could. If another season were written, the show would have suffered. Four seasons was enough. All episodes will be cherished. Perhaps, if anyone feels four seasons was too short lived, it would be wise to hold Picket Fences in a dramatic place similar to the comedic place the Honeymooners is kept. Todd S

You're absolutely right!! At its creative peak in all but its last season (w/o David E. Kelley) Picket Fences was the best television show ever aired. Some of the episodes are so memorable, I'll never forget them...the Supreme Court...the gang member sho ting the priest in the confessional...the stigmata... The show deserved every Emmy it ever received, especially the 2 for Best Drama (even beating out favored NYPD Blue one year!!!!) Thanks for the opportunity to express about PF. I discovered it only after it hit fx a couple years ago. I can say I believe only one other TV show is in its league, Hill St. Blues. Maybe NYPD Blue if it continues its excellence. These shows are the kind hat put you on a roller coaster of emotions and are at their best when twisting and turning unexpectedly which is obviously a credit to superior writing to start, then direction and acting. The special moments of PF are etched in my brain as if they were ome of my own experiences. The tapping on the casket of the mayor at his funeral service after the eulogy by Judge Bone is maybe the most breathtaking scene I have ever witnessed on TV. I will never forget it. I was SO DEPRESSED when PF was cancelled. I was SO HAPPY to find it this week on Fx every day at 11 am and thought I'd see if there was anything on the internet. I'm glad this web site exists. It is SICKENING that shows like Jerry Springer and Seinfeld are/were so popular, and PF only lasted 4 seasons. It was definitely the BEST show EVER on TV. Wow, I feel like I have found my people! No one I know ever enjoyed the show as much as I did. Sadly, I didn't even catch up to the show until late in season three or early in season four, so i was finding it just as it was ending. BLESS FX for making i possible for me to catch all the episodes, which I have taped and watch religiously!! What a show! David E Kelley is a true genius and I am a fan of ALL his shows, but I consider PF to be my all time favorite television show ever, hands down. No show e er delved deeper into the true human psyche the way this show did! Episodes like Maxine arresting Jill's father and Lydia wanting Jimmy's baby really cut through the heart of this family and exposed the true nature of characters in a way other shows neve do. I have always felt that the strongest point of this show was the backstory. The way this family came together is really at the heart of this show's success. The backstory is sooo incredibly rich in texture that it provided an endless supply of sto y ideas. I was sad to see David turn the reins of the show over to someone else in season 4. If he had stayed with it, it would probably still be on today! Fortunately, David has created a nice family of actors, and they turn up on his other shows, so I get to see some of them from time to time. It helps, but only a little. It is also nice to see David adopt the opening notes of the PF theme for the production company, so they play at the end of all his other wonderful shows. Sky One, which showed the programme here in the UK treated it with the respect it deserved and even showed the double-episodes in the same way as CBS. We mourn the passing of the show and h pe that CBS makes a reunion at some point to bring these fantastic characters back again, hopefully written by David E Kelley.

I enjoyed the show from the beginning. But when it was moved to Saturday nights, I lost the available time to watch it. Then, FX put it on at 10:00 p.m. cst and I was able to watch it every night. Now, it's only on FX at 10 a.m. and I have to record th show every day. The characters, although at times very unreal, seemed real in every aspect of daily life -- their good times, good friends, fights, feelings, emotions, etc. This has become my favorite show, and am glad there is a website totally devoted to the show.

Yes, I'm still upset that I can't see my favorite show except on Sunday mornings! I've been watching all these shows with Picket Fences alumni, but it just isn't the same. Did you notice that last Saturday evening, TNT paired Cathy Baker and Tom Skerrit in back-to-back TV movies? I liked "Not in this Town", Kathy Baker's movie. In fact, this was the second time I watched it. But I thought that the on Tom Skerrit was in was awful! I fell asleep before the end. I guess I don't like seeing him in such an unsympathetic role. Have any of you watched the new series on Friday night that features "Kenny"? I've started to watch it twice, but got interrupted both times. Did everyone enjoy Ally MacBeal last night? I thought that Kathy Baker brought real depth to a role that could have been pretty shallow otherwise. And while I like the show, and appreciate its clever innovations, I don't like Ally very much. Well, I did enjoy "The Practice" again on Saturday night with another old PF plot line. Remember when Jill was found guilty of assisted suicide for turning up a patient's morphine drip? Well, it happened again to another doctor, but this time both the prosecuting and the defense attorneys had had personal experience with the situation. And, once again, the doctor who was found guilty was let off with just a minor penalty. And there was also a very independent minded and grouchy judge reminiscent of Judge Bone. I really don't mind the recycled plots at all; it's fun to see what different twists and turns they can take with new characters, but I do miss the Rome, Wisconsin bunch! Well, a least I get to see Kathy Baker on Ally McBeal tonight, and Tom Skerritt on Chicago Hope on Wednesday night. Has anyone ever seen Carter Pike on anything else? What did the rest of you think about the latest "Practice"?

O.K., Picket Fences fans--you are all assigned the homework of watching "The Practice", David Kelley's lawyer show from last year. It has a lot of the PF style, and the last show borrowed heavily from an old PF plot in which a woman is granted immunity i she testifies against her husband as the murder suspect. Once she gets immunity, she confesses on the stand. Well, the John Larroquette character in "The Practice" does the same thing, with a few other twists and turns. However, the best part is at the end; after the show and during the banner showing the producer-- There is a woman watching TV, and you hear the first few chords of the PF theme, and the TV set blows up! Then you see:"A David E. Kelley Production"! Hey, David--what's the symbolism of that?!!..maybe spontaneous combustion? Anyway, it was lovely to hea the PF theme again in Prime Time, even if it was just a few notes! I'm still agitating for a PF reunion show. Is anyone else interested in getting up a petition for that?

I don't get to watch Picket Fences anymore because my Satellite is not able to pick up the fx signal. I am devastated. This show was the greatest television show of all time. You could never predict where the stories were going, the good guy did not al ays win, and I loved how the stories were so quirky and out there. This show could have been a real joke, but the writers made it possible for these weird occurances to happen because they would have the characters acknowledge how weird these stories wer . I loved these characters and really felt for them. I believe that there will never be such a well-written and acted show again and it is a real shame that not everyone got to see it and it's brilliance. I believe that it could or should have had the uccess of what ER is experiencing now. I just can't seem to put into words how much I loved and still do love this show. By the way, I loved how they would kill off people, EX) putting them in the dishwasher or in the freezer. No other show is that original. I really believe that David E. Kelley and the rest of the writers and creative staff are some of the most creativ and brilliant people in television history, and I look up to them as role models for being different, creative, and most of all original in art. Thank-you, I think I am done.

   I loved this show soo much, and it is very rare that I have such a passsion for a show. I was reluctant at first, but I feel into it's quirkiness and irreverent charm. The chemistry between everybody and what happened around them just made it so interes ing to watch every Friday night here in L.A. It wasn't until X-Files did a show get my attention as much. I am sorry that it is no longer around. I only wish it had a proper farewell, instead of the drummed up one they were forced to do on such short n tice. If only CBS had given this show as much support as it did Chicago Hope; and if as many people rallied behind Picket Fences as for Touched by An Angel; there would be yet, one more *GREAT* show on to this day.    This show had to have been one of the greatest I've ever seen on network television. It boggles the mind why it did not do well in the ratings and it amazes me that it was taken away from people after only four years. This show made people think about re l issues. It talked about our fears, our joys, and our questions. I guess intelligent and creative storytelling was too much for many people!! I attend Vanderbilt Divinity school and I often look back upon these challenging episodes as a great resource f r quandry in terms of what people are afraid of- and what I'm afraid of in life, particularly when these fears relate to our God and our sense of humanity.    When Picket Fences left the air to be replaced by Nash Bridges a couple of year's it was possibly the greatest tradgedy on t.v. since Brooklyn Bride was taken off.    I just got hooked on the show at the beginning of the summer and I am so mad that they cancelled it at night. PF is my favorite show.    Hello, again! I am definitely in withdrawal after FX's bad decision to remove Picket Fences from prime time and late night. In fact, I tried to find an address for FX, but the closest I could come was Fox Broadcasting Comapany at 10201 W. Pico Blvd. Lo Angeles, CA 90035. Since FX is "Fox Gone Cable", maybe this is the place to write and make our dissatisfaction known. Fox also has a Home Page with a space for comments, so try that, too. Let me know if you get any responses. On another matter..Hey! What do you mean by referring to Tom Skerrit as"...that old...."! I'm 57 and I think he's just right!

   Er... Hello. It's fun to sign guestbooks. I guess I don't really have anything constructive to offer. Oh, wait, I got one: try to broaden the appeal of your page. That is, most people who like Picket Fences don't like it because it has strong morals or it re-enforces family values. If that was the show's strongest point, it would just be more Christian do ma under the thin veil of modern drama -- kinda like the Family Channel. Fine if you like that sort of thing, but many like PF for precisely the opposite reasons, such as that it doesn't give easy answers and "morals" to controversial issues. There. I said it. Nice page, other than that, and I hope you won't abandon it like so many others before you.
