FADE IN:

EXT. FARM FIELD – DAY

A tractor is plowing a field, a cloud of dust trailing behind it. A large umbrella covers the tractor seat. It is a bright, clear sunny, day. The tractor diesel engine is wound up to high rpm as it travels down the row.

CUT TO:
EXT. FARM FIELD – DAY – CLOSER

Farmer TONY REYES is squatting on the tractor beneath the umbrella next to the tractor seat, a straw hat upon his head. Sitting next to him driving the tractor is CHANCE HARPER. The loud SOUND of the tractor ENGINE mingles with the SOUND of the PLOW as it breaks up the sod behind the tractor. Harper bounces in the seat as the tractor continues down the row.

CUT TO:
EXT. FARM FIELD – ANOTHER ANGLE

Closer in on Chance and Reyes as Reyes removes a handkerchief from a hip pocket and wipes sweat from his face and neck.

CHANCE
       (above engine noise)
When I came out here to shoot pictures for the farm story, I never thought I’d be plowing a field.
REYES
       (replacing handkerchief)
And how do you like it?
CHANCE
Honestly?
        (looks at Reyes, grinning)
I think I’ll stick to photography.

REYES

       (chuckles)
Me? I love this. The open sky, the smell, the feel of the land . . . it’s great.
The tractor continues down the field and Reyes begins to whistle some non-descript tune. His melody is interrupted by a LOUD metallic CLANG. The men LURCH on the tractor. Chance hastily throttles down and stops and the two men jump to the ground. They walk behind the tractor and plow, examining the freshly cut furrows. Something catches Reyes’ eye and he walks back a pace and steps over a couple of furrows. He stops again, staring down at something in the ground. Chance joins him.
CUT TO:
P.O.V. FROM BEHIND REYES AND CHANCE

The camera slowly moves in toward the two men’s backs, beginning to rise to a P.O.V. above their heads as it does. Reyes removes the straw hat and WHISTLES long and low.

CHANCE
       (incredulous)
What in the world . . .

REYES

        (interrupts, shaking his head)
Well I’ll be damned!
P.O.V. continues to rise to a point several feet above them until they pass out of frame, finally revealing the object in the ground that has captured their attention — a huge BONE partially visible, the remainder still buried. A few shards of the bone lay nearby, shattered when the plow struck it. P.O.V. close on the bone from the aerial vantage, the marks from the plow clearly visible.
