Drew Carey's New Game Show ("Whose Line Is It Anyway?")
Sitcom sensation DREW CAREY always does things differently - and
that includes hosting a game show that's not exactly a game show!
"Whose Line Is It Anyway?," a
hilarious new version of the popular
British improvisational comedy
show, is coming to ABC this
summer, hosted by Drew. Not a
talk show, not a sitcom and sort of a
game show, "Whose Line Is It
Anyway?" is a unique concept to American TV, although viewers might
have already seen the British version on our own Comedy Central
cable channel. Four talented actor/comedians perform completely
unrehearsed, unscripted skits in front of a studio audience. Carey will
give the group a variety of situations, with some contributions from the
audience, then it's up to the performers to try to make something funny
out of it. Since it is totally improvised, anything can happen!
RYAN STILES, "Lewis" on "The Drew Carey Show" and a regular
on the British version of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?," stars as one of
the featured performers. Each week, he'll be joined by Canadian actor
COLIN MOCHRIE and a rotating roster of actor/comedians for a
half-hour of non-stop laughs.
Other performers scheduled to appear include
WAYNE BRADY, GREG PROOPS and
BRAD SHERWOOD. Multitalented musician
LAURA HALL is on hand to provide an equally
improvised musical score for each scene, when
required (e.g., a song about plumbers which must
be sung to a reggae beat).
The British version of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" has won numerous
awards, including four CableACE Awards (Best International Comedy
or Series) and an International Emmy.
Listen as contestants struggle to keep a conversation in
the form of questions!
Dan Patterson, Denise O'Donoghue, Jimmy
Mulville, Drew Carey and Ryan Stiles are the
executive producers of "Whose Line Is It
Anyway?" Mark Leveson is producer. The show
was created by Dan Patterson and Mark Leveson,
and is produced by Riverside Productions, Inc. in
association with Hat Trick Productions, LTD and
distributed by Warner Bros. Television.
So, this summer, if you're looking for some truly unpredictable
television for a change (or, at the very least, something that's not a
rerun), check this show out on ABC this summer!
