Welcome To The Hellmouth:(3/10/97) An introduction to characters and their lives.
The Harvest:(3/10) Buffy gets a present of a silver cross from the mysterious man Angel. Angel tells Buffy the Harvest is near.
The Witch:(3/17) A girl decides that she must make the cheerleading team, even if it means using witchcraft. Until it's found out that, she's not the one trying to make the team.
Teacher's Pet:(3/25) Xander and the rest of his class go ga-ga over the new substitute teacher, they find out the hard way she's not a regular teacher, or person for that matter.
Never Kill A Boy On The First Date:(3/31) Buffy faces her first dilemma- to go out with a poetry loving classmate or save the world from evil. Well, she does both. When he finds out her dangerous life, she has to give him up.
The Pack:(4/7)While on a trip to the zoo, a group of bullying kids takes an unwilling student into the off limits hyena house. Xander goes in and tries to help the kid out. But when he walks into the hyena house, the hyenas take over. Xander (posessed) soon begins to hang out with 'the pack', taunting kids including Willow and eating a live pig.
Angel:(4/14) When Angel is hurt, Bufy readily lets him stay at her house. After the first night, Buffy learns that Angel is really a vampire.
I, Robot, You, Jane:(4/28) Willow gets involved over the internet with a person, who trys to take over everyone.
The Puppet Show:(5/5) Giles is the recluctant coordinator of a school production which contains a dummy who seems to have a mind of its own.
Nightmares:(5/12): A young boy falls into a coma, when he had an "accident". But all of his nightmares are becoming Sunnydale's reality.
Invisible Girl:(5/19) A tormented, unpopular unnoticed girl becomes invisible and takes revenge on the classmates who did her wrong.
Prophecy Girl:(5/26) Giles consults his books and finds that Buffy will face the master and die. Buffy goes to fight the Master. The Master drinks some of Buffy's blood, she faints, she drops in a pool of water. Unconscious, she drowns for a brief moment. Unable to save her, he's breathless, Angel, calls to Xander for help.
When She Was Bad:(9/15/97) Buffy is still haunted by the Master even though he is gone. Emotionally distraught she acts like a bitch to everyone, including Angel.
Some Assembly Required:(9/22) Some boys think that they should make the perfect girl, and Buffy and Cordelia would be perfect.
School Hard:(9/29) The introduction to Spike and Drucilla. During parent teacher conferences, a gang of vampires, including Spike, decide to have a little fun in the school. The parents and teachers are taken hostage, and at the end we find the principal is involved.
Inca Mummy Girl:(10/6) A foreign exchange student steals Xander's heart, but he learns that she is really a hundred year old mummy who must kill to survive.
Reptile Boy:(10/13) Cordelia falls in love with the idea of being rich and powerful, so she gets involved with a frathouse of rich and powerful men. Buffy is asked to go to a party with Cordelia and does, she has been brushed aside by Angel and pushed to hard by Giles. She goes and finds they are the next to be sacrificed to a giant snake.
Halloween:(10/27) The new Halloween store is up, and everyone goes there to get their costume. But on Halloween night everyone in Sunnydale is transformed into as what they are dressed like. Unfortunate for Buffy, she dresses like an 18th century noblewoman, who is terrified of everything.
Lie To Me:(11/3) An old friend of Buffy's is back and town and wants to rekindle their friendship. She finds out he wants to become a vampire, and he plans to trade her in to become immortal.
The Dark Age:(11/10) A friend from Giles' past is back. His past resurfaces and so does tales of magick and the mark of Eygon.
What's My Line? Part One:(11/17) Buffy and Angels' relationship grows closer. Spike and Drucilla find the key to Dru's illness-Angel. A new girl is in town, she claims she is the vampire slayer. The order of Teraka is sent after Buffy.
What's My Line? Part Two:(11/24) The stranger, Kendra, really is a slayer. Angel is captured by Spike and tortured by Dru. Buffy rescues Angel just in time, the building collapses on Spike and Dru. At the end, we see Dru strong and carrying Spike out of the rubble.
Ted:(12/8) Buffy's mom has a new beau, and Angel tells there is something up with him. Buffy finds Ted reading her diary, he smacks her in the face, and in a fit of rage Buffy beats the crap out of him, knocking him down the stairs and killing him. With some snooping done, they find Ted is really a machine after Buffy and her mom. He comes back to finally take care of them.
Bad Eggs:(1/12/98)Buffy's new project is to take care of an egg like you would a baby. The eggs are really aliens(?) and take over the students and teachers minds. Buffy is having troubles with her mom. Buffy and Angel's relationship grows closer.
Surprise Part One:(1/19) The Judge is in town and after the slayer. He destructs all who are kind and helps all evil. Buffy and Angel share a night of passion, Angel wakes up in the night and runs into a dark alley and starts screaming Buffy's name.
Innocence Part Two:(1/20) Buffy's 17th birthday! Angel changes into Angelus. The night of love changed him into his previous evil self, he joins Spike's Anti-Buffy campaign and comes after her. Buffy realizes that Ms. Calendar knew it would happen but didn't tell Buffy. Buffy visits Angel, who is rude and obnoxious to Buffy she later finds out why. At the end, Buffy is very depressed and instead of blowing out the little birthday cupcake her mom gives her, she just lets it burn and stares off with tears in her eyes.
Phases:(1/27) A werewolf is in town and is thought to be responsible for a death. It's revealed that it was Angelus. Willow is shocked when she learns who the werewolf really is.
Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered:(2/10) It's Valentines Day, and Buffy is still depressed over the loss of Angel. A spell makes all the girls in Sunnydale crazy over Xander, including Buffy and Willow. Angelus is still torturing Buffy. He comes to her home and tells her mother that he and Buffy made love.
Passion:(2/17) Narrated by Angelus, he draws threatning pictures of Buffy and her mom. As revenge for making him feel human, he kills Ms. Calendar. Before her death, Ms. Calendar finds the spell to transform Angelus back into Angel, the disk it is saved on falls between the crack in a desk and lands on the floor. Buffy realizes that now she has the courage to kill Angelus, thinking he is gone forever.
Killed By Death:(3/3) Buffy is hospitalized for a major fever. While there, and under the fever, she sees a looming figure killing children. Angelus walks into the hospital to visit Buffy, but leaves after confronting Xander and rubbing it in his face that he made love to Buffy while Xander can't even tell her his true feelings.
I Only Have Eyes For You:(4/28)Sunnydale High is haunted by a young student who killed his teacher/lover. He posesses students and faculity to act out the murder, including Buffy and Angel. After acting passionately, they were still possessed, Angel realizes what is going on and runs away. The spirit is lifted from the school. Giles still can't let go of Jenny, just like Buffy can't let go of Angel.
Go Fish:(5/5) Underwater monsters attack the guys of Sunnydale High's swim team. The coach has a surprising part in it. Xander joins the team as a undercover act. Cordy proves why she won the SunnyDale Award For The Biggest Ditz.
Becoming Part One:(5/12) Flashbacks of Angel's lifetime and his wrongdoings. Buffy and Willow find the disk containing the curse to restore Angel's soul. Kendra returns, and is killed by Drucilla. While performing the curse, vampires attack, Willow is unconscious, Xander's arm is grossly bent, Kendra dies, Giles is kidnapped, all during the time she is fighting Angel. Narrated by the Whistler, he is the one who brought Angel to Buffy.
Becoming Part Two:(5/19) After Buffy runs in the library, she is arrested by police. She beats one cop up and runs away. Meanwhile, Angel is torturing Giles, trying to find the key to unlock Hell. Willow is in a coma-like state, while Xander is sitting next to her, he says I love you just as Willow wakes up and Oz walks in. Buffy gets a visit from The Whistler. Spike makes a deal with Buffy, he keeps Giles alive while he takes Dru and runs and Buffy goes and kills Angelus. Willow decides to try the curse again, and tells Xander to relay the message to Buffy, he does, but not the right message. After torturing Giles, Angelus gets the key, it's his blood that needs to be on his hands. Buffy tells her mom she is the slayer, her mom disbelieves her and refuses to let her leave, but Buffy pushes her away and leaves. Buffy goes to the warehouse where Angelus and the gang are, after a big complicated fight, Buffy and Angel are left to battle it out with swords. A few seconds before Buffy slices off Angelus' head, the ritual works and Angelus is Angel. Buffy and Angel kiss and hug and exchange I love you's and tears. She knows what she has to do and thrusts the sword into his stomach pushing him into Hell and sealing the portal. Buffy doesn't know where to go, so she leaves town without telling anyone.
Anne:(September 29, 1998) The emotional third-season opener finds the Slayer striking out on her own. After killing Angel and getting kicked out by her mom last season, Buffy fled Sunnydale. Hoping to find meaner pastures, she moved to the city where she intends to keep a low profile by assuming a new identity. But as Giles hunts for his missing pupil and the gang takes care of the slaying, Buffy is pulled back into the game when a devilish stranger begins preying on homeless teens. The encounter takes Buffy to Hell and back (literally), forcing her to examine the wreckage of her past and the anguish she's caused those she left behind.
Dead Man's Party:(October 6, 1998) As Buffy tries to make amends with her mom and the gang, a flock of unstoppable zombies pops up in Sunnydale. And when they crash her welcome-home party, Buffy gets a chance to prove to her loved ones that she won't let them down again.
Faith, Hope and Trick:(October 13, 1998) NEW KIDS IN TOWN - Just as Buffy tries to return to her normal life of going to school, hanging out with friends and saving the world, she is faced with the arrival of an ancient, cloven-hoofed villain and his blood-sucking sidekick, Mr. Trick. Another new Sunnydale arrival, Faith, helps Buffy in her battle against the unspeakable demons and ingratiates herself into every aspect of Buffy's life.
Beauty and The Beasts:(October 20, 1998) ALL MEN ARE BEASTS - When a Sunnydale High student is found savagely mauled in the woods, Willow fears that Oz in werewolf mode might somehow be responsible for the violent murder. Meanwhile, Buffy secretly discovers that Angel has returned after 100 years of hellish torture, and she suspects that he is the murderous culprit.
Homecoming:(November 3, 1998) THE THRILL OF THE HUNT - With Cordelia flaunting her sure win in the race for Homecoming Queen, she awakens the Prom Queen from within Buffy, who tries to enlist the entire gang to help her show Cordy how it's done, but some of their allegiances may be elsewhere. Meanwhile, the blood-sucking Mr. Trick assembles a host of killers in Sunnydale for a thrilling hunt to the death to bring down the two slayers.
Band Candy:(November 10, 1998) AGE BEFORE DEMON - Buffy is forced to grow up even faster when Mr. Trick executes a devious plot to render the town defenseless by causing Sunnydale's adult population to inexplicably behave as irresponsible adolescents. Meanwhile, Buffy struggles to keep Angel's return and recovery a secret while her mom and Giles conspire to schedule her 24 hours a day.
Revelations:(November 17, 1998) TOUGH LOVE - Tempers run hot when the gang learns of Angel's return and Buffy's harboring this vicious killer, but they all must band together to fight a demon who has arrived in Sunnydale in search of a highly powerful weapon. Meanwhile, Faith meets her new watcher, a brisk Englishwoman who is disdainful of Giles' haphazard operations.
Lover's Walk:(November 24, 1998) SPIKE'S BACK - Just as Buffy enjoys a minute to revel in her S.A.T. scores and ponder her bright future, the underworld version of Sid Vicious, Spike, returns to Sunnydale a fallen man, a pathetic shell of his former self who has been left in the dust by his love Drusilla and is back to punish every one who is to blame, especially Angel. Meanwhile, Willow prepares a de-lusting spell to keep her and Xander's hormones in check during a double bowling date with Cordelia and Oz.
The Wish:(December 8, 1998) BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR - Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned-Cordelia, wanting to be rid of all things Xander and his spooky entourage, decides that all of her troubles started when Buffy moved to Sunnydale and wishes that historic event never actually happened. Not knowing that a an evil genie would grant her fateful wish, Cordelia is transported into an altered reality in which the Hellmouth is open and The Master is alive and ruling, with Willow and Xander as his undead minions.
Amends:(December 15, 1998) THE GHOSTS OF CHRISTMAS PAST - As Buffy and her friends make plans for a quiet Christmas vacation, Angel is haunted by visions of his violent, demonic past, including the ghost of Jenny Calendar. Meanwhile, Willow goes to great, seductive lengths to try to convince Oz that he is the one for her; and Xander painfully adjusts to his life without Cordelia.
Gingerbread:(January 12, 1999) THE SUNNYDALE WITCH HUNT - Picking the worst possible night for a surprise "mother-daughter bonding" visit with Buffy, Joyce is haunted by the discovery of two murdered children and feels compelled to take drastic action. When Giles suggests that the killings appear to be an occult sacrifice, Joyce rallies the entire adult population of Sunnydale behind a Salem-like witch hunt, leading the murderous mob directly to Willow and Buffy.
Helpless:(January 19, 1999) COMING OF AGE - For her upcoming 18th birthday, Buffy eschews her friends' offer of a big party, hoping to celebrate with quiet reflection and a traditional trip to the ice show with her father. But unbeknownst to Buffy, preparations are being made for a life-threatening rite of passage that drains the slayer of her powers and then entraps her with a powerful vampire foe that she must defeat in a defenseless state in order to pass the test.
The Zeppo:(January 26, 1999) ODD MAN OUT - Xander's lack of slaying superpowers has him feeling painfully expendable, but his quest to prove he's cool leads him to an unforgettable night that finds him consorting with fast women, raising the dead and rolling with a dangerous crowd that could put Sunnydale in a world of hurt. Meanwhile, Buffy, Giles and the rest of the crew engage in a furious battle with an all-female apocalypse cult that intends to reopen the Hellmouth and bring about the end of the world.
Bad Girls:(February 9, 1999) TAKE A WALK ON THE WILD SIDE - A taste of the wild life leaves Buffy wanting more, and while Sunnydale is being inhabited by a long-dead demon and his vampire minions, Buffy follows Faith into her irresponsible world of reckless slaying abandon. Meanwhile, Giles fights to maintain his sanity in the face of the pompous and stuffy new watcher, while Willow, Xander and Oz ponder their options for life after high school.
Consequences:(February 16, 1999) KEEP THE FAITH - Buffy is haunted by the consequences of her and Faith's reckless behavior as she battles with Faith's apparent lack of remorse to keep her from continuing on her destructive path. Meanwhile, the new watcher Wesley overrides Giles' objections and instructs Buffy and Faith to get to the bottom of the recent murder, while the Mayor and Trick are thrilled by the possibility of imprisoning a slayer for the murder.
Doppelgängland:(February 23, 1999) A VAMPIRE WILLOW PREYS ON SUNNYDALE - Buffy and the real Willow must save the day when from the bleak alternate universe in which vampires rule Sunnydale, Willow's blood-sucking doppelganger is brought forth into this world and wreaks havoc and confusion on Sunnydale. Meanwhile, Buffy goes into full training mode so she can ace out Faith on the Watchers Council tests, while Faith's unholy new alliance is already paying handsome dividends.
Enemies:(March 16, 1999) DARK ANGEL - Faith and the Mayor's secret alliance becomes an all-powerful triumvirate of evil against Buffy when they conspire to rob Angel of his soul. Meanwhile, Giles has unofficially resumed his role as Watcher, as Wesley is distracted from his sacred duties by Cordelia's amorous attention.
Choices:(May 4, 1999) THERE'S NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT - Since Faith's turn to the dark side seems to have put the proverbial kibosh on Buffy's chances of ever getting out of Sunnydale to go away to college, Buffy decides to launch an offensive and shut down the Mayor's plans for "Ascension." Meanwhile, plans for the future are the order of the day, as Willow tries to choose among a bevy of college acceptances, Xander prepares to hit the road on a Kerouac-inspired adventure and Buffy and Angel refuse to face the insurmountable obstacles to a successful life together.
The Prom:(May 11, 1999) DEVIL IN A PROM DRESS - Spring has definitely sprung in Sunnydale as talk turns to all things Prom, and while Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and Angel grapple (David Boreanaz) with the impossibility of a future together, she is determined on keeping a villain intent on crashing the Prom from ruining her friends' perfect high school moment. Meanwhile, a chance encounter between Xander (Nicholas Brendon) and Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter) may have reopened their lines of communication, but he is saddled with a demonic Prom date (recurring guest star Emma Caulfield, "Beverly Hills, 90210"), while Cordy only has eyes for the new watcher Wesley (recurring guest star Alexis Denisof). Anthony Stewart Head, Alyson Hannigan and Seth Green also star. David Solomon directed the episode written by Marti Noxon.
Graduation Day Part 1: (May 18, 1999) AN ELECTRIFYING TWO-PART SEASON FINALE - As Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar), Willow (Alyson Hannigan), Xander (Nicholas Brendon), Oz (Seth Green) and Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter) ready for their long-awaited graduation day, the Mayor (recurring guest star Harry Groener) makes preparations for his Ascension and transformation into pure demon at the climax of his commencement address to the Class of 1999. With the fate of the world in true peril, Buffy is distracted from her purpose when Angel (David Boreanaz) is weakened with a lethal poison, and itŐs slayer against slayer when Buffy faces Faith (Eliza Dushku) for what may be the last time. Anthony Stewart Head also stars. Joss Whedon wrote and directed the episode.
Graduation Day Part 2: As the hours tick away to the fateful graduation of Sunnydale High School's Class of 1999, the impending doom of the Mayor's ascension and transformation into pure demon hangs heavy with Buffy. With Angel near death, Buffy must risk her own life and defy the orders of the Watchers Council in order lead a campaign to save the world.
