Part 2

RJ was about to knock Max into next week when John Sykes showed up and spoiled his fun. As RJ had Max by his scrawny throat, he was contemplating what he had to lose from beating the living daylights out of Holden. He knew he risked losing his freedom and possibly doing a bid up in Statesville prison, but then he thought about the satisfaction of seeing his ex-partner in pain and suffering. RJ then realized he came too far to ruin his life and a chance to rebuild Indigo, so he unwillingly complied with Sykes order and let Max go. RJ then whispered one warning in Holden's ear.

"From now on Holden, you see me in the streets don't say nothing." RJ said as he pointed his finger in Max's face issuing him the awful admonition.

"Don't worry about it, RJ. I'm filing a restraining order against you."

"You do what you got to do, you spineless chump."

Sykes approaches RJ and Max and proceeds to find out what transpired between them.

"You two mind telling me what's going here?" Inquired Sykes.

RJ replies, "We were just having a friendly business meeting until you showed up." RJ smirks at Sykes. He knows that John wasn't going to buy his reason for the ruckus at Rodi's, but he knew it wouldn't hurt to answer his obvious question. Max gives his side of the story.

"Business meeting? It was more like a Jerry Springer moment." Quipped Max.

"Well the moment has passed. Considered yourself lucky gentlemen that I'm not going to arrest the both of you."

"Lucky?! As far as I'm concerned my luck ran out the first time I set foot in Llanview. I'm outta here." RJ walks towards the door and Sykes has some last words to share with him before he exits.

"One more thing before you leave, Gannon. This is your last visit at Rodi's. If I catch you in here or within a footstep of Rodi's, I'll throw you in jail."

"I don't recall seeing your name all over Rodi's. It figures you damn cops act like you own everything. Say goodbye to the bad guy!"

A furious and hot tempered RJ storms out of Rodi's vowing to avenge himself against John Sykes. Bringing down Sykes was on RJ's mind for awhile but he didn't know how he was going to go about it. He recalled following his brother Hank's advice and filing a complaint against John, but IAD never followed through with it. Just as he was getting into his car, Tea walks up to him.

"Evening, RJ" She glanced at RJ and wondered what was bothering him. "You look upset. What's up?"

"Nothing much. Now that you're here I'm sure the two of us can get something started." RJ replied with a smile on his face.

When Tea heard RJ utter the smooth and alluring remarks from his mouth, she blushed. She still couldn't figure out why RJ would be so persistant in asking her out on a date when she rejected him on several occassions. Without giving it a second thought, Tea changes the subject.

"I see." Tea nervously said. "RJ, I saw Rachel today. She really misses you and looks forward to you visiting her again."

RJ's mood suddenly switched from joy to anger. He wondered if Tea told Rachel that he burned down Club Indigo. He quickly asked her if he divulged the incriminating info to his niece.

"You didn't tell her did you?" RJ asked in a furious voice.

"Tell her what?"

"Don't play dumb with me, counselor. About Club Indigo."

"No. RJ. She doesn't know that you set fire to your own club, if that's what you're worried about."

"You just make sure it stays that way."

"I'm surprised that you can sleep at night, RJ. The crime of arson you committed in your club almost resulted in the death of two people. I wonder how you manage to live with yourself."

"Well that's for me to know and you to find out, Tea. You just remember what I told you. While were talking about ethics and morality, you shouldn't really go around throwing stones if you live in a glass house, Mother Theresa."

Just when Tea was about to respond to RJ's latest remark, Sykes walks out of Rodi's and sees RJ and Tea talking. He's not pleased that RJ is hanging in the parking lot and speaking to Tea. John quickly asks RJ why he hasn't left yet.

"RJ, I thought I told you to leave Rodi's. What are you still doing here?"

Tea jumps in to defend RJ. "It's okay, John. RJ and I were having a conversation."

"That wasn't necessary, Tea. I can handle your boyfriend in blue on my own."

"It wasn't you I was protecting. Good night, RJ." Tea walks away from RJ and heads inside Rodi's. John sees to it that RJ gets in his car and vacates the premises.

"What's a matter, Sykes? You don't trust me to leave? You have to watch my every move?!"

John looks at RJ and doesn't respond. He just wants RJ to get out of his sight immediately. RJ reluctantly gets in his car and drives off. As he's driving home, RJ's cellular phone rings and he picks it up.

"RJ Gannon speaking"

"I have information on John Sykes that you'll be interested in Mr Gannon." The digitally disguised voice said.

"Who are you and how did you get this number?" RJ asked.

"RJ, if you want the damaging dirt on Sykes, meet me at the Crossroads tavern in twenty minutes." The person who called RJ hangs up the phone.

RJ's left pondering who the person who called him could be. There were only a few people who knew that he wanted take down Sykes. RJ recalled revealing his hatred of John to Hank, Dorian, Tea, Max, but he couldn't think of who this anonymous caller could be. RJ instead reviewed in his mind the history of his deep anger and resentment towards Detective John Sykes. It all happened when John arrested Dorian and him for the murder of Drew Buchanan. Despite the fact John knew they were innocent, he treated RJ and Dorian like they were guilty. When they were cleared, Sykes still held RJ and Dorian to the same scorn and contempt as the time of their police custody. RJ also realized that when John was temporarily a police commissioner, he was following orders from Senator Graham, but RJ could care less. Hellbent on seeking revenge against Sykes, RJ turns his car around and heads towards the Crossroads bar to meet his mysterious benefactor. Twenty minutes later he arrived in the parking of the Crossroads. He got out of his car and prepared himself for an encounter with the person who possessed the incriminating information about John Sykes.
