Fenton River
Chaffeeville Road Bridge (FR-6)
Equipment: Pressure transducer in 2" galvanized steel pipe with some ½" holes drilled in bottom on upstream eastern wall. Peak flow indicator on downstream eastern wall.
Low flow measurements: Standing upstream of bridge
High flow measurements: From bridge
Control: Downstream ledge for low to moderate flows. Bridge may be control at high flows.
Problems Problems may occur from debris on center bridge support so try to keep clear during measurements.
Old Turnpike Road Bridge (FR-4)
Equipment:
Low flow measurements:
High flow measurements:

Problems:
Mount Hope River
Atwoodville Road Bridge (MH-7)
Equipment: Actual site is not at the bridge but about 500 feet along trail downstream on the west side. Must put 2" pipe near tree and rock with horizontal leader to center of stream. Can't do indirects.
Low flow measurements: Standing near the aforementioned rock
High flow measurements: Must use boat at same location
Control: Pool formed by ledge
Problems: Cannot use bridge for most measurements due to no constriction, variable control at downstream island, and dead water at bridge sides. Winter access may be difficult due to distance downstream. Can't do indirects
Warrenville Road (MH-4?)
Equipment: USGS gauge records
Low flow measurements: none
High flow measurements: none
Control: unknown
Problems:
Upstream Location (Unknown)

Natchaug River
Basset Bridge Road Bridge (FR-4)
Equipment: 2" pipe about 100 feet upstream on east bank against rock. Must be angled and buried into bank for stability. Staff gauge bust be custom made depending on angle and set over the pipe. Can't do indirects.
Low flow measurements: Standing downstream at end of rip-rap or at measuring location in a boat
High flow measurements: Off Bridge or at measuring location, in a boat
Control: Pool formed by upstream constriction.
Problems: Can't do indirects.
Pilfershire Road Bridge (NR-1) (Still River)
Equipment: 2" pipe in bank downstream west side about 50 feet, or on downstream edge of west bridge wall, requires about 3 feet of digging. Both require horizontal feeder pipes.
Low flow measurements: From bridge, or standing upstream, or standing at equipment, or in boat.
High flow measurements: From bridge
Control: Downstream ledge forms pool all the way through the bridge.
Problems: Can't do indirects.
Floeing Road Bridge (Unknown) (Bigelow Brook)
Equipment: 2" pipe on downstream east wall, and peak flow pipe on upstream west wall, or use debris line for indirects.
Low flow measurements: From bridge, too deep to stand
High flow measurements: From Bridge
Control: Downstream constriction for low flows, and possible the bridge for high flows but may not constrict enough.
Problems: Possible variable control.
