Every X-Files episode, from the pilot to the present, is rated on a one-to-five
scale of shippiness. Eps are also rated on the one-to-five
rating system for overall quality. The little
by some episodes in later seasons indicates that a castmember of "Space: Above and Beyond" was in the ep. A
indicates a particularly scary ep.
indicates not a bad ep but an anti-Shippy ep.
FIRST SEASON
- PILOT

- The UST is so thick you could cut it with a scalpel. Famous Scully/underwear/motel room/blackout/candlelight /heart-to-heart talk scene (If you've no clue what I'm referring to, you have no business calling yourself a shipper).
- DEEP THROAT
- Nothing, absofreakinglutely nothing.
- SQUEEZE

![heart' src=]()

- A little MulderJealousy/protectiveness.
- CONDUIT
- Nothing.
- THE JERSEY DEVIL
- Scully goes out on a date with a very nice man and discovers -- He's BORING!
- SHADOWS

- A great deal of witty repartee that some might construe as UST, but alas, is not.
- GHOST IN THE MACHINE

- Minimal UST.
- ICE

- Can you say "UST"? The claustrophobic nature of this ep accentuates the tension between Mulder and Scully.
S:Then why didn't you let Hodges examine you?
M: (whispered with great feeling, gazing deep into Scully's terrified eyes) I don't trust them! I want to trust you.
S: Well, they're not here right now.(they examine each other's necks.......)
It's rather amusing to note that Scully looks about ten years old in this ep.
- SPACE
- Not even worth the film stock it was printed on, there's so little to this one.
- FALLEN ANGEL
- Mild UST. "The enigmatic Dr. Scully" -- Max Fenig
- EVE
- Entertaining ep, but nothing in the way of UST.
- FIRE

- Enough UST to kill a lesser shipper. Scully gets very jealous of Phoebe Green, Mulder's manipulative, bitchy, evil ex-girlfriend... AND gets to see ol' Spooky in nothing but BLACK SILK BOXERS (Okay, Verbal, stay out of the Muldergutter...).
M: I was only extending a professional courtesy.
S: Oh, is that what you were extending?
- BEYOND THE SEA

- There's so much in this ep I can't list it all. Scully's father dies; Mulder caresses her cheek and calls her "Dana" for the first time, there's a lot of heart-to-heart talking in this one.
S: (to Luther Lee Boggs, voice shaking) If he dies because of what you've done, no one will be able to stop me from being the one to throw the switch and gas you out of this life for good you sonofabitch!!!!! (Can you say "love"?) - GENDERBENDER

- A little UST, not much.
- LAZARUS

- AAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Please! Somebody erase the memory of this ep from my mind!!!!! The most PAINFUL moment in this entire episode is when Scully is trying to make Jack Willis remember a weekend they spent together in a cabin, snowed in. They ran out of firewood and he had to wrap her in a blanket..... The implications of THEM -- TOGETHER -- ALONE -- FOR A WEEKEND -- are terrifying. Whoever played Willis, he's ugly too. YIKES.
- YOUNG AT HEART
- Nothing.
- E.B.E.
- No data yet.
- MIRACLE MAN
- Nothing.
- SHAPES
- Nothing.
- DARKNESS FALLS

- All that great UST potential, and they didn't use it!
- TOOMS

- Famous iced tea/root beer conversation. Scully tries to call Mulder "Fox" but he won't let her.
S: (to M) You're the only one I'd put myself on the line for." - BORN AGAIN
- Nothing.
- ROLAND

- M:Did you catch the bouquet?
S: (enigmatic smile) Maybe. - THE ERLENMEYER FLASK

- Despite being nominated for an Edgar Award by the Mystery Writers of America, this ep isn't actually that good. Minimal UST levels.
