The Gatehouse

Ned: We’re here.

(Ned helps Alexis out of the limo and into the house)

Ned: Where do you want to sleep in the bedroom or on the sofa?

Alexis: I think I would rather sleep in the bedroom so you can cuddle with me.

Ned: That’s a good choice.

(Ned helps Alexis upstairs and they get into bed together; Alexis puts her head on Ned’s lap)

Alexis: I like this. (looking up at Ned)

(Ned gives Alexis a passionate kiss and she feels very weak from the kiss; finally she breaks away from the kiss)

Alexis: (breathless) Are you trying to take my breathe away? Ned, that was a great kiss.

Ned:(grinning) I know.

Alexis: I don’t know how I am going to stand being in this bed for the next month. If you’re here with me I am sure it will go faster.

Ned: (strokes Alexis’ cheek) I know honey. It will soon be over, I promise.

(Alexis is trying to fall asleep so Ned starts to sing to her)

(after 10 minutes of Ned’s singing, Alexis falls asleep)

The Morning

(Ned is already up making breakfast and Alexis is still sleeping)

(Ned finishes making breakfast and comes over with a tray of food for Alexis and him)

(Ned sits down on the bed and gives Alexis a kiss on the cheek)

Ned: Wake up, honey.

(Ned hands Alexis a tray of food)

Alexis: Thanks. (starts eating) Who cooked this? Cook. This is good.

Ned: No, I did. I went to a cooking class while you were in the hospital the first.

Alexis: (giggling) Are you sure you cooked this?

Ned: Yes I am sure. (gives Alexis a kiss) I have to go to work today and I am sure Monica will visit when she has time. I will bring some work home for you.

Alexis: Please don’t.

Ned: What??

Alexis: Don’t bring any work home. All those stacks and stacks of files make my head hurt.

Ned: I really have to go. I might come home for lunch if I can. (Ned gets dressed) Bye Alexis. See you later? (gives her a kiss and leaves)

(Alexis sits there bored out of her mind; she does not have any work to do since Ned has not been home yet)

(Alexis decides to call Stefan; picks up her cell phone)

Alexis: Hello Stefan.

Stefan: Alexis, why aren’t you at work?

Alexis: I ended up in the hospital and Monica said I have to stay in bed for the rest of the pregnancy.

Stefan: Alexis do you want company?

Alexis: If you want to come be my guest. The front door is open just walk right in. Could you do me a favor and bring some scones with you? I have a craving.

Stefan: I will see you in 10 minutes.

(Alexis hangs up the phone)

Gatehouse

(Stefan comes in)

Stefan: Hello.

Alexis: I am upstairs Stefan. Come on up.

(Stefan goes upstairs; hands her the scones)

Alexis: Hello Stefan. How come you’re not at the hospital?

Stefan: I need a break today. (sits down on a chair next to Alexis’ bed). So how are you feeling?

Alexis: Pretty good. It is just hard to sit here and do nothing. I always have to busy.

(knock on the downstairs door)

Alexis: Stefan can you see who it is?

(When Stefan comes back up; Monica is with him)

Monica: Hello Alexis. Just checking up on you.

Alexis: Monica I am so bored. At least Stefan came by.

Monica: You look a lot better.

(Monica pulls up a chair and sits next to Stefan; Stefan and Monica start talking to each other)

(it Ned’s lunch time and he comes in; He has a ton of papers and can barely see over them)

Ned: Hello beautiful. (notices Monica and Stefan) Hello Monica, Stefan.

Monica: Here let me help you (she grabs some of the files)

Alexis: (to Ned) Don’t tell me those are all for me?

Ned: Sorry to say this but they are. (Alexis stares at him; sits down on the bed next to Alexis; kisses Alexis on the cheek) How are you Stefan?

Stefan: I am fine. And you?

Ned: Have too much work to do and miss our counselor.

Monica: I am going to leave. See you soon Alexis. (as she is about to leave)

Stefan: I am going to leave also. (Stefan and Monica walk out together)

Ned (turns to Alexis) How are you really feeling?

Alexis: Tired. I will start on the work. Can you hand me my glasses?

Ned: (hands her the glasses) Wait until I leave. (Ned lays in the bed next to Alexis; he starts to kiss her on her neck)

(Alexis turns to face Ned and he plants a kiss on her)

Alexis: I love you. Have you thought anymore about baby names?

Ned: I have a couple. How about Michael Scott and Brittany Ann?

Alexis: I like that. I will let you know. (looking at the clock) Don’t you have to go soon?

Ned: Yes I do. (gets up and gives Alexis a kiss) See you later.

(Ned leaves)

(Alexis starts on her work)

5 PM the same day

(Alexis is finished her work; Ned is not suppose to be home until 6:30)

Alexis: Ned are you here? (She wants to see if he is home)

(There is no answer so she decides to get up)

(starts to get up but she is dizzy because she has been in bed for a long time)

(holds onto the chair next to her and she does not notice that Ned is standing behind her)

Ned: (stern fatherly voice) Alexis Ashton sit down now!!

Alexis: (startled) Ned. I was just….I…(Alexis sits down not wanting to upset Ned any further)

Ned: (interrupts her) What. you were just getting up. I can see that. Do I have to tell Monica you were not listening? Would you rather spend your time in the hospital? You know she put you on bed rest for a reason. (Ned is ticked at Alexis)

Alexis: (almost yelling) I am so bored. No one to talk to. You’re always at work. All I get to do is stare at the wall. (calms down) Ned I am sorry.

Ned: (sits down next to Alexis) I don’t want anything to happen to you or to the children. (puts his hand on her stomach) Two more weeks. Lay back. (Alexis lays back and Ned takes off his tie and jacket; Ned turns off the lights and gets into bed next to Alexis)

(Ned cuddles up next to Alexis)

Alexis: (not sure if she should say anything) Ned?

Ned: Yes

Alexis: Why are you home so early?

Ned: I decided everyday until our children are born I will leave ELQ at 4:30. It’s no fun being at ELQ without you. If grandfather has a problem with that too bad.

Alexis: Thank you

Ned: For what?

Alexis: Not being too mad at me and for being a loving husband.

Ned: Just don’t do it again.

(Alexis closes her eyes)

(Ned leans over and kisses Alexis; Alexis is a little startled)

(Alexis puts her arms around Ned and draws him closer)

(Just then, there is a knock on the door)

(Neither one of them wants to move; they are enjoying themselves)

(Alexis finally breaks the kiss)

Alexis: Honey you better get the door.

(Ned gets up reluctantly and goes downstairs)

(Ned opens the door and Nikolas and Emily are standing there)

(Nikolas and Emily enter)

Emily: Hello Ned.

Ned: Hello Emily. (to Nikolas) How are you doing?

Nikolas: Great. Thanks for asking.

Emily: (holding 2 stuffed animals) We came to see Alexis.

Ned: Let’s go upstairs.

(Ned, Nikolas, and Emily walk upstairs)

Alexis: Nikolas, Emily so nice to see you. Finally company. (looking at Ned smiling)

Emily: This is for the twins (hands her the stuff animals)

Alexis: Have a seat (pointing to the chairs next to the bed)

(they talk for an ½ hour and then Nikolas and Emily leave)

Ned: (grinning) Where were we before we were interrupted? (sits down next to Alexis)

Alexis: (putting her hands around Ned’s neck and pulling him close to her) Like this.

(Alexis kisses Ned passionately)

(Ned slowly breaks away from the kiss)

Ned: Alexis it is getting late. I think it is time for bed.

Alexis: (pouting) Ned we are in bed.

Ned: You know what I mean.

(Ned goes and turns off the lights and gets into bed with Alexis)

Alexis: I love you.

Ned: I love you too.

(Ned and Alexis fall asleep)
