Ned Is Eddie Soap Opera Digest ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Karaoke Kid: Poor Ned Ashton. His cranky mother, Tracy, ran over his estranged wife, Jenny, then skipped town. His hated cousin, A.J., was sleeping with his business partner (and paramour), Julia, and had just blown all the power out at the Port Charles Hotel. So Damian convinced Ned to drown his sorrows at a neighborhood karaoke bar. The sullen Quartermaine heir took to the stage with a rousing rendition of "Heartbreak Hotel." A Star Is Born: Not so fast. Ned viewed his songbird status as more of a lark. He had no intention of pursuing his creative side until he heard a band called The Idle Rich in a Buffalo hotel bar. The band's feisty manager, Lois, took exception to Ned's disparaging remarks about the band and challenged him to do better. He did. The Name Of The Rogue: Without missing a beat, Lois asked the sultry singer for his name. "Uh...Eddie Maine," replied Ned, a clever play on his famed grandfather's moniker. "Eddie" told Lois that he was a busy pharmaceutical salesman with no time for a singing career. Lois followed "Eddie" up to his room and had sex with him. She must have been very convincing. They're Playing His Song: "Eddie" embarked on a reluctant singing tour with Lois, and Ned secretly bought all The Idle Rich CDs in Port Charles...except one. A gleeful Brenda snared it and recognized Ned as the cover boy. So far, Brenda has kept Ned's secret, but the closer Brenda gets to Lois, the harder it is for her to keep from naming his tune. The Fury: Can you imagine Edward and Lila's reaction when they find out that Eddie Maine is really their grandson in leather pants? It will be nothing to Lois's anger when she learns that not only is her beloved Eddie actually the lying, twice-divorced financier Ned Ashton, he has also been making beautiful music with Katherine. Talk about a sour note. Caption: "Eddie" won't be able to get out from under Lois's wrath when she learns he's really Ned. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
