The Road Runner

Turn on your images!

In the silent, serene landscape of the Arizona desert, a distant whirring of dust catches the eye. No sound can be heard. Without warning, an Hot-Roddicus Supersonicus streaks by, but soon only the confident echo of his unforgettable bird call remains..."Beep Beep!!". Doing a red-hot 0.2 second mile (without breaking a sweat), the Road Runner once more outdistances the clumsy cunning of the conspiring coyote. Strangely, this near-silent film star is one of the most audibly imitated member on the Looney Tunes cast.

Debuting in Chuck Jones' Fast and Furry-ous on September 16, 1949, the graceful Road Runner is the perfect partner to the sly schemes of the determined Wile E. Coyote. The Road Runner and Wile E. have starred together in a total of 42 short films. The bird of few words always gets away clean and always stays in his own lane.

As a parting gift I'll just give you the lyrics to the Road runner show. Have fun with it!

"If you're on a highway and Road Runner goes beep-beep!
Just step aside, or you might end up in heap!
Road Runner, Road Runner runs down the road all day.
Even the Coyote can't make him change his ways.
Road Runner, that Coyote's after you!
Road Runner, if he catches you, you're through!
Road Runner, that Coyote's after you!
Road Runner, if he catches you, you're through!
That Coyote is really a crazy clown!
When will he learn that he never can mow him down?
Poor little Road Runner never bothers anyone.
Just running down the road is his idea of having fun!"
