Ch 5- 7 years later
Angel picked up the pictures that rested on Giles's desk. It was a
triple picture. It had Willow and Oz on their wedding day, Cordelia and
a guy she had met in college, Ben something, on their wedding day and
Buffy and Xander on their wedding day. Buffy looked radiant and so
happy. He shook his head and put down the pictures and picked up
another one. This one was of Giles and Joyce on their wedding day. A
picture of their son, Jonathan sat next to it. Then there was the
picture of Daniel Giles Harris, Buffy and Xander's son. He was almost a
year old and Giles said they were trying for another one. But that
wasn't all. They were moving back here. Xander had gotten a job with a
law firm here in Sunnydale and Buffy was going to open her own
architectural firm. She was coming home. She'd be in walking distance
and she might have been on the moon for all the good it do him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Hmm. That feels good." Buffy murmured softly as her husband massaged
her back as they lay in their bed which was on the floor, the headboard
having been dismantled and put in a box in preparation for the move.
"Yeah? How's this feel?" With a devilish smile Xander Harris tickled
his wife's ribs. She shrieked lightly with laughter as she turned over
onto her back. He put a finger on her lips to remind her that their
sleeping son was a mere two feet away.
"Call me crazy but I'm actually going to miss this place."
"Crazy."
"C'mon it was our first home. We had a lot of good times here. Our
first two children were conceived right in this very room."
"Alright I admit I'll- what did you just say?"
"Sweetheart the rabbit died."
"You're pregnant?"
"Yes!"
"Yes!" Xander leaned down and kissed his wife on the lips before pulling
back and whispering, "I love you."
"I love you back."
"How far along?"
"Two and a half months. So I'm figuring the weekend your parents
visited and took Daniel to the hotel with them so we could have some
private time? Does that sound about right to you?"
"Yeah the sounds right. Baby did anyone ever tell you, you talk
entirely too much?"
"Do not." She pouted.
"Do too." He said as he gently kissed her again. She wrapped her arms
around his neck and kissed back. Things were starting to get intense
when Daniel started crying.
"I'll get him." Buffy said, sliding out from under her husband and
walking over to her son's crib. "Hey what's a matter sweetie? Huh?
You hungry?" she said as she picked him up.
"You are so good with him." Xander said, watching his wife admiringly.
"My mom said the same thing when she came to visit right after he was
born. I guess I do okay."
"You do better than okay. C'mere." Buffy carried her son over to the
bed and they both settled into Xander's lap.
"I think I know what will put him out."
"Sing it sweetie."
Buffy smiled and began to sing softly to her son.
I don't know what it is that makes me love you so,
I only know I never wanna let you go
Cause you've started something, Oh can't you see?
That ever since we've met you've had a hold on me
It happens to be true
I only want to be with you
It doesn't matter where you go or what you do
I wanna spend each moment of the day with you
Look what has happened with just one kiss
I never knew that I could be in love like this
It's crazy but it's true
I only wanna be with you
You stopped to smile at me and asked if I'd care to dance
I fell into your open arms and I didn't stand a chance
Now listen honey I just wanna be beside you everywhere
As long as we're together honey I don't care
Cause you've started something o can't you see
That ever since we've met you've had a hold on
No matter what you do
I only wanna be with you
No matter what you do
I only wanna be with you"
"Works every time." Xander whispered looking down at his sleeping son.
"Like a charm." She said, yawning.
"On Mother and son." Xander gently lifted Daniel from his wife's arms
and laid him back in his crib. When he turned around his wife was sound
asleep on their bed. He smiled and crawled in beside her. She turned
over and wrapped an around him, laying her head on his chest and
settling against him. He smiled and kissed the top of her head before
closing his eyes.
A man with platinum blonde hair got off a bus at the Sunnydale Bus
Depot. He looked around.
"Welcome home mate."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She blocked a punch to her face and then placed a well aimed kick to his
groin. Then she dusted him.
"Not bad Kendra."
"Thanks." She said turning around to face Angel. "Didn't expect to see
you tonight."
"Thought I'd see if you needed any help."
"Right. She'll be here in a week."
"Who?" he asked feigning ignorance.
"Buffy. Buffy Harris."
"I know her name Kendra."
"Do you? Because I don't think ya do. She's married Angel. She's
happy. She has a child."
"Yeah I know. But there aren't any laws that say I can't miss her, are
there?"
"No. But if you ask me it's pretty pathetic."
"Well no one asked you."
"C'mon. Giles is probably worried about us." Kendra lived with Giles,
Joyce and Jonathan. Angel stayed in the basement.
"Does she know?"
"Know what?" Kendra asked, confused.
"Where I live."
"Yeah. Joyce told her after you moved in. That is why she'll be
staying with her in-laws until they find a place of their own to live."
"Oh." Angel said, a little disappointed.
"Angel it's been almost ten years. When are you gonna get over her?"
"Never. But I do know it's over. I have for a long time." Angel said
as Kendra walked into the house.
"Ya coming?"
"Just a minute."
"Alright." Kendra closed the door and Angel sat on the steps. He looked
down at the ring he wore. The same one he'd worn all those years ago.
The heart pointed inwards. She may not belong to him anymore but he
still belonged to her. He'd always belong to her and she'd always
belong to Xander.
