Chapter 49: Beginning Of The End

Jason entered the hospital with his men. He gave them their orders to check on every patient that has
been brought in and see if they fit Henry's description. An hour later, the men came back and told
him Henry wasn't there. Jason was given information on a patient that was brought in a few days ago,
but he was transferred to a mansion ten miles away from Port Charles.

Jason: Are you sure this is Henry?

Renaldo: I talked to a nurse about him. According to her, two men brought this kid in because he was
having these seizures. When she talked to them, they would occasionally mention the name Cassadine.

Jason looked at the address of the mansion.

Jason: We're heading back to Port Charles. Call Sonny and tell him everything you told me.

Renaldo: Right.

They all left the hospital. Jason got inside the limo, which Sonny insisted he take to the hospital
instead of his bike. Jason picked up the phone and called Carly.

Virginia had just gotten finished making Carly some breakfast when the phone started ringing. She
picked up the phone and started talking.

Virginia: Hello?

Jason: Virginia, is Carly… I mean Caroline there?

Virginia: She's still in bed.

Jason: How is she?

Virginia: She's hardly said a word to me since she came home from the hospital last night. They only
time she's said anything was when the baby's funeral was brought up.

Jason: When will it be?

Virginia: Next week.

Carly: Mama?

Carly walked out of her room.

Carly: Who's on the phone?

Virginia: It's Jason.

Carly: Jason… I want to talk to him.

Virginia: All right, Caroline.

Virginia handed the phone to Carly and continued to set the table for breakfast. Virginia was so
upset about the whole thing. Finding out what Caroline has been doing for the past couple of years,
the anger she felt towards Caroline for what she did but Caroline was in such a fragile state because
of the baby's death.

Carly had spent time telling Jason how she was feeling and now Carly decided to change the subject.

Carly: How are things on your end? Did you find Henry yet?

Jason: Not yet, but we're getting close.

Carly: Good luck finding him.

Jason: I have to make a few more phone calls, Carly.

Carly: I understand.

Jason: Take care of yourself.

Carly: That's what I'm best at.

Carly's eyes filled with tears saying that. She could take care of herself… just not her little baby.

Quinn looked in the window at his daughter, Alexis. It had been a day since she had been brought in
and no one knew what was wrong with her yet. He hoped more then anything that his girl would make it.
Quinn was so concentrated on Alexis that he didn't notice when Ned walked up to him.

Ned: How is she?

Quinn spun around and looked at Ned.

Quinn: She's still the same, the doctors say it could get worse at any moment.

Ned: I hope not, I don't know what I'd do without Alexis.

Ned noticed that Quinn was focused on something else. He followed his gaze and saw a woman standing a
little ways away, hesitant to come up and join them.

Ned: Alexis' mother?

Quinn: The one and only.

Finally, Christen/Denise walked up to them.

Christen: How is she…

Quinn: I was wondering when you'd have the nerve to show yourself.

Christen/Denise looked at Quinn and began to remember their last confrontation.

~-~-~-~

Quinn and Denise stood in the living room of his home. He had finally come to believe that Denise
really was the Christen he had known so long ago.

Quinn: How could you do this to me!? How could you lie like that to me for all these years, letting
me believe you were dead!? Letting me think Alexis was my daughter! Letting me think Miranda was
Natasha! How could you?

Denise: I did it for you and my daughters. Helena said she'd kill us all!

Quinn: Well right now she's planning on killing Alexis and she already has Miranda in her hands!

Denise: *crying* I know, that's why I came forward. I had to tell the truth so you could protect
Alexis.

Quinn: Too little, too late, Christen! You should have told me the truth a long time ago, I would
have protected us all. Instead you had me running around putting Miranda into boarding schools trying
to make sure no one harmed her and then you took Lexi, who I thought was my daughter, and you
wouldn't allow me to see her except for one weekend every other month.

Denise started to loose her balance and almost fell but then regained it gain. She was crying so hard
she could hardly find the strength to speak.

Denise: It was part of the deal.

Quinn: Part of the deal? PART OF THE GOD D*MN DEAL? Well, Christen, why don't we live up to that
deal?

Denise: What do you mean?

Quinn: From now on you are as dead to me as you were before. Only his time, I won't long for you, I
won't wish you were back in my arms. All I will do now is despise you!

Denise: *quietly* You can't mean that…

Quinn: Of course I mean it! Now get out of here!

Denise stood there, crying. She could barely see with all the tears flooding her eyes. Quinn pointed
angrily at the door and shouted again.

Quinn: I SAID GET OUT!

Denise grabbed her coat and walked to the door. Before she left she turned to Quinn.

Denise: I hope someday you can understand why I did what I did.

Quinn kept his back towards her, not dignifying her apology with any kind of response. Denise looked
down sadly and left Quinn's house.

~-~-~-~

Christen (Denise) brushed off the hurt of Quinn's remark and responded.

Christen: I'm here for my daughter, I want to know how she is.

Ned: She's still fighting off whatever's wrong with her, but the doctors say they don't know how long
she can keep up.

Christen: You know the truth?

Quinn: Alexis has informed him, yes.

Christen: I suppose you don't like me anymore then my husband.

Ned: Sorry, Christen, but I'm too worried about Alexis to think about you.

Quinn: I need to get some coffee. You want any, Ned?

Ned: I'll be all right.

Quinn walked right past Christen like she wasn't there, someone's cell phone went off. Ned and Quinn
reached for theirs when Quinn looked to Ned.

Quinn: It's me.

Ned put his phone away and Quinn answered it.

Quinn: Hello?

Helena: Hello, Quinn.

Quinn: Helena.

Christen and Ned looked at him.

Helena: I trust Alexis received that special pot of coffee I had brewed for her.

Quinn: Tell me what you gave to her you bi…

Helena: Now, Quinn, is that anyway to speak to your in-law? Especially one who holds the antidote to
the poison that has infected your daughter's bloodstream?

Quinn: What do you want me to do?

Helena: Bring Christen to me, alone. I already know Jason Morgan has received my address and I am
sure he will give it to you. You better act soon, now one holds out from this poison for long.

Helena hung up the phone.

Ned: What does she want?

Quinn looked at Christen.

Quinn: She wants me to bring Christen to her.

Quinn looks to Ned.

Quinn: Get a hold of Corinthos for me, we need to get him here. I need to get something taken care
of.

Lizzie was working at Kelly's when Sly walked in. Lizzie looked over at him.

Lizzie: Hello, Sly.

Sly: Hey. Sorry to hear about Henry, I know how good of friend he was to you.

Lizzie: Yeah… he was my best friend. So, where have you been lately?

Sly: I came down with the flu, but I'm better now.

Lizzie: Ugh, I hate the flu.

Sly: What are you going to be doing?

Lizzie: My brother's coming by later, he's going to take me out to dinner and try to cheer me up.

Sly: Sounds like fun. Well, I just stopped by to say hi.

Lizzie: I'm glad you stopped by.

Sly: See you later.

Lizzie: Bye.

Sly left Kelly's and Lizzie looked at the clock. Her shift was over, now Steve just had to show up.
Lizzie took off her apron and tossed it beneath the counter. She sat down at one of the table and
waited. As Lizzie sat there, she started to drift into a daydream.

Now Kelly's was dark, lit only by candlelight. Lizzie stood up, surprised by the changed and then
noticed she was wearing a long, white dress. She was wearing white high heels, her hair was up and
she was wearing silk gloves. Lizzie looked around, wondering what was going on, when she heard a
voice from behind her.

Henry: You look beautiful.

Lizzie turned around and saw that it was Henry. She smiled and ran up to him and hugged him tightly.

Lizzie: Henry.

Henry was wearing a black tux with a rose in his lapel. He held Lizzie in his arms for a moment and
then she stepped back.

Lizzie: I missed you so much.

Henry: I missed you too, Lizzie.

Lizzie: I was so worried… now you’re here.

Somewhere must started to play, it was ''My All'' by Mariah Carey.

Henry: May I have this dance?

Lizzie: Anytime.

Henry led Lizzie out to the center of the floor and they slowly began to dance, looking into each
other's eyes, holding their bodies close.

''I am thinking of you
In my sleepless solitude tonight
If it's wrong to love you
Then my heart won't let me right
‘Cause I've drowned in you
And I won't pull through
Without you by my side

''I'd give my all to have
Just one more night with you
I'd risk my life to have
Your body next to mine
‘Cause I can't let go on
Living in the memory of your song
I'd give my all for your love tonight

''Baby can you feel me
Imagining I'm looking in your eyes
I can see you clearly
Vividly emblazoned in my mind
And yet you're so far
Like a distant star
I'm wishing on tonight''

Henry: I love you...

Lizzie: I love you, too.

''I'd give my all to have
Just one more night with you
I'd risk my life to feel
Your body next to mine
‘Cause I can't let go on
Living in the memory of your song
I'd give my all for your love tonight

''I'd give my all to have
Just one more night with you
I'd risk my life to feel
Your body next to mine
‘Cause I can't let go on
Living in the memory of your song''

As the song began to finish, Henry softly kissed Lizzie's lips.

''I'd give my all for your love tonight
Give my all for your love
Tonight...''

Steve: Hey, LIZZIE!

Lizzie snapped out of her daydream as she heard her brother say her name.

Lizzie: Oh, sorry, I just spaced out for a second.

Steve: So I can tell, you ready to go?

Lizzie: Right, sure.

Lizzie looked around the restaurant and sighed as she left with Steve. If only that hadn't been a
dream…
