-Chapter-7-''The Meeting''
V, Lizzie, Alexis, Sarah, Luke and Emily were all sitting in the pool house to
discuss their situation.
Alexis: All right, we're all here?
Emily: Yes.
Venus: How were you able to get away from Tony?
Alexis: I told him I had an errand to run.
Luke: All right, Davis, spill. You said you knew what was going on.
Alexis: No, I said I had an idea.
Lizzie: Fine, then tell us your idea. Anything would be helpful.
Alexis took a deep breath and then started to explain.
Alexis: Many years ago, while Mikkos was researching information on the weather
machine, other projects were going on as well. One of them was the research done
on dimensional doorways. Dr. Collins, a mathematical genius behind the project,
had gone a long way in his research, but Mikkos saw no point in having access to
different dimensions and put him on the weather machine project.
Luke: Wait a minute… Dr. Collins? You don't mean…
Alexis: Yes, Kevin's father was the man behind the dimensional project and the
weather machine project.
Luke: Is that why Stefan hired Kevin last year, to get closer to his father for
the computer virus deal?
Venus: Huh? What are you two talking about?
Alexis: Nothing.
Alexis gave Luke a dirty look to tell him to shut his mouth up.
Lizzie: Okay, I get that the dimension doorway thing was researched, but what
does that have to do with us?
Alexis: That's what I don't understand.
Lizzie: Other then Dr. Collins, who else was working on this project?
Alexis walked over by a table where Emily already was and tried to remember.
Alexis: Just a bunch of doctors and scientists Victor hired…
Alexis stopped for a moment and then something hit her!
Alexis: Ow!
Emily had accidentally knocked a glass off the table and it hit Alexis on the
foot.
Emily: Sorry! Is your foot okay?
Alexis: Yeah, fine, just a little bruised… anyway, I just remembered something.
One of the doctors working on that project was a Dr. Burt.
Venus: Dr. Burt? Could it be the same guy we were supposed to meet tonight?
Alexis: Yeah… it could be. I just thought of something… What if the Dr. Burt
here is the same one that was working with us?
Sarah: Who is Dr. Burt?
Venus: He's someone Ardanowski Enterprises was supposed to make a deal with for
the frost mechanics…
Venus looked at Alexis and realized the basis of her theory.
Venus: I get it. Dr. Burt was sent here, accidentally or purposely, and
everything he knew about frost mechanics was the information he had learned
while Mikkos was working on building the weather machine.
Emily: I see what you're saying, but the weather machine was almost twenty years
ago… this dimension research was probably even longer then that. So… why did the
frost mechanics thing just come up now?
Alexis: I'm guessing he was waiting to see if anyone was going to rescue him
first… then when that didn't happen, he may have tried to find his own way back,
but didn't have the money or the resources. Who knows how long it took him to
construct a prototype for frost mechanics. Remember, not all the information
about the weather machine was given to Dr. Burt do he probably had to do a lot
more research by himself.
Emily: Okay, I'll take that as a valid excuse.
Sarah: Maybe we should find Dr. Burt and see if he can get us home.
Lizzie jumped when she heard the phone ringing.
Venus: I'll answer it.
Lizzie: Right, you do that… anyway, I agree that we should find Dr. Burt because
he could be helpful, but if this dimensional research is for real, then WHO used
it to send us here?
They all stood there baffled. Then Venus hung up the phone and all eyes were on
here.
Alexis: What's wrong?
Sarah: Is it Nikolas?
Venus: No, it's Dr. Burt… I was just told he was found dead in an ally.
