Chapter 62
Brenda followed Robin from Picard's ready room to the conference room. She
looked around at the bridge. Brenda's eyes were drawn to Worf who was at the
tactical station. They headed into the conference room. Brenda saw her mother
and Troi there. After a minute Brenda notices a woman come in and join them. He
hears her introduced as Dr. Crusher. After a few minutes Robin began to speak.
Robin: Now that you know the truth about your parents there is one more thing
that you should know. It is about your future.
Brenda: My future. What do you mean.
Vash: Brenda, Do you remember my illness?
Brenda: Of course I do. You don't forget something like that.
Vash: The truth is that you and I can't handle the 20th century air. It is
slowly killing us.
Brenda: I am dying from the air. How can air kill me?
Robin: In the 24th century the environment is artificially controlled. Some
people’s bodies become too dependent on it. You and your mother are among those
people.
Crusher: The effects of air will be fatal to you two.
Brenda: So I am dying.
Crusher: No. You will die if you remain here in the 20th century. But if you
stay here and return to the 24th century you will be fine.
Brenda: What about Jax?
Robin: History all ready reports that you died. Jax mourns you. But he will move
on.
Brenda: So I have no choice. What is going to happen to me?
Robin explains what is going to happen to Brenda.
