Chapter 72
Robin and Brenda arrive at the TV studio for Brenda's show. The two of them are
silent. The both know what is going to happen. Brenda turns to face Robin.
Robin: Are you ready?
Brenda: I am scared Robin. What if something goes wrong?
Robin: Don't worry about it. I will make sure that everything goes well.
The director notices Brenda. He comes up to her. Robin looks over at the special
effects artist. She comes up to him. It is Riker.
Robin: Are you ready?
Riker: Yes. Are you sure this is going to work?
Robin: it is. I better rejoin Brenda.
Robin rejoins Brenda. They head to her trailer. A few minutes later, Brenda’s
makeup for the shot is put on. Brenda removes her clothes. There is a knock on
he door Riker comes in. He comes up to Brenda. He places some patches on
Brenda's chest.
Riker: These are the blood packets for the shooting scene. When I push the
button they will simulate your wounds.
Robin: We also added one more thing. The packet will shock you. Your heart and
breathing will stop for a minute. You will be pronounced dead.
Brenda: What happens if my heart doesn't start?
Robin: It will restart. The doctor on set is from the future and if it doesn't
work I will bring you back. There is no risk. Trust me Brenda.
Brenda I do.
Brenda then puts on her costume. It is a dress from the 1800's. She comes out
and joins the director and her costar.
Director: Ok Brenda. Let us go over it one more time. You and Joe walk out on
the street. As you leave Bob will come out and draw his gun. Joe will shoot him
and then face you. He will then notice the blood on your dress. As he looks at
the wound you look down and see it too. You look up at him and tell him that you
will always love him. You will then die and he holds on to your body. Are you
all ready?
Brenda: Set.
Joe: Ready.
Bob: All set.
The three of them head to their places.
Director: Action.
Brenda and Joe come on to the street. Bob fires his shot. But when the shot is
fired Brenda goes down. The director runs up.
Director: Cut. You’re too early Brenda. Brenda?
Brenda doesn't get up. They call for a doctor. Dr. Crusher comes up to them.
Dr: She is dead. (Crusher examines Brenda's “wound”) This is real blood.
Director: WHAT!
