Chapter 8
Luke and Jason have entered the tunnels in search of Sonny and Brenda. While
Sonny and Brenda, are on their way out. Maslow has left with one of his men,
but, is on his way back. Lois and Robin are at the penthouse waiting, while
Jason's men are outside, watching the tunnels.
On the inside…
Luke: Jason, this is insane.
Jason: Can you see a thing?
Luke: I think there is enough light to see one step in front of me.
Jason: How long have we been walking in here?
Luke: Maybe about five minutes or so.
Jason: I don't feel like we are getting anywhere.
Luke: Patience junior, we'll get somewhere.
They continue walking, twisting and turning around every corner.
To Sonny and Brenda.
Sonny: Tell me what you are going to do.
Brenda: Stop asking me.
Sonny: I'm still not leaving you in here.
Brenda: (stopping) why are you doing this?
Sonny: I know what that slime ball did to you. I saw the fear and pain in your
eyes everytime you ran into him. I am not going to leave you here with him.
Brenda: You gave up the role of protecting me when you left me at the altar.
Sonny: (sadly)He told you why I left.
Brenda: He also left out details, didn't he?
Sonny: Yes. On the docks, before, were you going to tell me?
Brenda: Tell you what?
Sonny: Tell me what that creep did to you.
Brenda: No, I wasn't going to tell you.
Sonny: Why not? You know I saw the pain in your eyes and I know that you must
hate me because of what I did, but you still, no matter how mad, you have always
told me what was wrong.
Brenda: This time was different. Sonny, I know you hate seeing a woman in pain.
But I am telling you, this time, you can't do anything to help me, except to
listen to what I am telling you. You have to go and leave me here. I need you to
get out of here, to go to Luke and Jason and let them come back to help.
Sonny: Luke knows, doesn't he?
Brenda: He knows.
Sonny: And Jason?
Brenda: He doesn't. Please, if you want to do something for me, then do this.
Sonny: I don't like it.
Brenda: I don't care.
Sonny: Let's go.
They continue walking through, nearing the end of the tunnel.
Maslow is on his way back to the house. He is in his car and calls over to the
house.
Maslow: Arthur, how are my guests?
Arthur: All seems quiet in the room.
Maslow: Could you check real quick for me.
Arthur: Hold on sir.
Arthur goes to the door, and opens it. He looks around and finds the room empty.
He runs back to the phone.
Arthur: Boss, they are gone. Matty said they didn't get out through the door,
that neither he nor David has heard a thing.
Maslow: My niece, she knows where she is.
Arthur: They must be in the tunnels.
Maslow: Damnit. I have come to far for this plan to fall through now.
Arthur: I'll get some of the men going through the tunnels we know about.
Maslow: Get men on the outside of my entrance. I have a feeling Spencer and that
moron Morgan have been creeping around.
Arthur: How do you know that sir?
Maslow: I was in town, the two idiots haven't been around in a while. I have had
the club watched. Spencer hasn't been there. And the Penthouse, there hasn't
been any action at all.
Arthur: The guys are on their way out.
Maslow: I'll be there in five minutes.
They hang up the phone.
Sonny and Brenda reach the end of the tunnel. She turns to him.
Brenda: This is the end. Will you be able to tell them how to get back?
Sonny: I'm coming back with them.
Brenda: (now angry)Damnit, no. You are not coming back here. You go to find Luke
and Jason, tell them where we are and how to get in here. Have them bring guns,
and maybe to of Jason's men, you stay in Port Charles, or go someplace else, but
I DO NOT WANT TO SEE YOU BACK HERE.
Sonny: (upset) Brenda, I can't just not do anything here. Don't you get it, I
LOVE YOU. (quieter) I love you and I want to strangle that bastard, I want to
reach into his throat and pull out his heart with my bare hand.
Brenda: Do it to someone else Sonny. This is not about you. This is not you’re
past coming back, harming me. This is my stuff, mine. Now, we have wasted enough
time, go, that is the wall you need to go over. You will walk maybe three feet
once on the other side. Look for the trap door on the wall in front of you.
Crawl through it, you will come up under a table in the cabin. There is a
motorcycle on the side, keys are on the wall. Go to the Penthouse, but use the
back entrance.
Sonny: Brenda….
Brenda: please, Sonny, just go. I'm going to be fine.
Sonny: I love you. (he tries to kiss her, but she backs away)
Brenda: Go.
Sonny turns and jumps up to grab the top of the wall. Brenda watches, too make
sure he makes it over, once he does, she takes off back into the tunnels. Sonny
turns to see her and realizes she is gone.
Sonny: (to himself)I'll go get help baby, but I am coming back.
Maslow has arrived at the entrance, where Jason's men are. The men see him, but
do not move. Maslow's men are there.
Maslow: To Johnny, are they here?
Johnny: Jason has men around the perimeter.
Maslow: They don't know you have spotted them?
Johnny: No. We think Morgan and Spencer are inside the tunnels. There is no sign
of Brenda and Corinthos.
Maslow: She's not going anywhere. She loves that poor excuse of a man, she'll do
the selfless thing and get him out. But, she'll come back, she always does. My
problem is the cowboy and the brain damaged sidekick, find them. Oh, and when I
give the word, take his men down.
Johnny: Got it.
Maslow goes inside the tunnels. Luke and Jason, hear something in the distance.
They see a light…
Luke: Junior, do you hear something?
Jason: I see something.
Luke: Hang on here, someone is coming our way.
Jason and Luke lean up against the wall, waiting for the person they heard in
the distance.
Brenda is walking quickly by them.
Jason sees her and steps out in front.
Brenda: (stops)Jesus, Jason, what are you doing in here?
Jason and Luke step out of the darkness.
