WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 16, 1998

RICHARDS HOUSE: When she and Caitlin realized that Gregory changed the combination to the safe, Annie asked him for her money. Gregory asked why she needed it; she replied that the money was for Gregory's Christmas present. He was, apparently, so touched by this that he gave Annie the combination to the safe. Annie speculated that it was too easy to get the combination out of him.

OLIVIA'S HOUSE: Amy convinced Emily that the necklace must have fallen off before she went upstairs and that she only thought that she'd put it on her dresser. Bette offered to give Emily a better chain for the pendant. Emily inadvertently hurt Bette when she pointed out that she could take care of herself -- she always has.

A RESTAURANT: AJ found Cole and Olivia, and Olivia was surprised when she found out that AJ was also involved with the jewels.

SUNSET BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT: Ricardo confided in an uneasy Antonio that he felt he and Gabi were growing apart. Antonio convinced Ricardo that AJ and Francesca's presence on the beach when Juan's body showed up was a coincidence. Antonio didn't understand the letter. He didn't recognize a picture of Juan or the rose that's on the letter, either. The lab report came back saying that Juan was killed by scorpion venom.

INN AT SUNSET BEACH: When Cole, Francesca and AJ told her that everyone who touched the jewels will die by Christmas, Olivia remembered picking up the necklace when AJ offered it to her. Olivia also remembered hearing Amy find something the night Hillary died. Olivia told the others that she has overheard Amy chanting. They realized that there could be greater danger than they previously thought. Later, Antonio told the others that the body they found was Juan. When Antonio said that no one's in any immediate danger, Cole broke the news to him that everyone who has touched the jewels will die before midnight on Christmas.

RICHARDS HOUSE: Caitlin confided in Olivia about the blackmail, so Olivia offered to get the money for her.

BEN'S HOUSE: While talking to Dr. Estrada about Maria's new memories, Ben asked Maria to tell him what emotions she felt upon remembering a Christmas from when they were married. Meg came to Maria's rescue by suggesting that Maria must be so overwhelmed by the memories that she doesn't have time to express the emotions involved. With the help of the videotape she lifted from Carmen's, Maria told Ben that she remembered when he gave her the house. Then she recited words she had said to him on their wedding day. When Ben conceded that Maria seemed to express genuine emotion during the recitation of her wedding vows, Maria asked if Dr. Estrada thought that she's competent. Dr. Estrada, reluctantly, admitted that Maria was competent. Maria told Ben and Meg that Ben could have his divorce now.
