Born in London, England, Catherine Bell moved to Los Angeles when she was three years old, where she became a model by accident while in college at UCLA, studying to become a doctor or biomedical engineer. She never finished college, as her modeling career pulled her all around the globe. Catherine believed that, although her modeling career was prospering, her shyness was becoming an obstacle. To cure her of her timid nature, she hired an acting coach. From there, she went on to act as Lisle's body double in "Death Becomes Her." She also costarred in "Men of War." Her television roles, outside of "JAG", include "Friends," "Dream On," "Misery Loves Company," and "Hercules."
In season one of "JAG," Catherine made a very brief appearance as Lt. Diane Schonke, for whom Harm was arrested for murdering. In the second season, she replaced Tracey Needham (Lt. Meg Austin) as the female lead. A dedicated actress, she has done research in Camp Pendleton, a Marine Corps base in southern California, for her role.
Like the round-housing Major Mac that she plays, Catherine enjoys such rough and tumble hobbies as sky diving, bungi jumping, and kick-boxing. On a more tranquil note, she also enjoys painting. At the present, Catherine Bell lives in Los Angeles with her husband Adam, whom she met on the set of "Death Becomes Her."
