"So um....." Alicia moved her chair over to Carson casually, who stood up suddenly.
"Do you wanna go for a walk?" Carson asked.
"Love to." Alicia said, standing up. The left the lodge.
"You know," Carson said after they had walked a little, "You're really
pretty."
Alicia looked up and blushed.
"No... I don't think so...." She laughed.
Carson moved in closer to her face, as Alicia did the same. Suddenly
Carson screamed.
"What is it?" Alicia asked. Carson backed away quickly.
"Behind you!!!!!" Carson yelled. Alicia turned around and was face to face with a tall grotesque, overall clad thing. It's face was a disgusting sight, so awful, it could not be described. Alicia had a hard time registering this and stood there for a moment, before Carson grabbed her arm and the ran to the lodge.
"I didn't know I could run so fast!!!" Alicia panted.
"Yeah, well, to quote Shirley, fear is a great motivater." Carson said.
"Speaking of Shirley! Hey! Shirley!" Alicia yelled to Shirley and Bo who were ahead of them. Shirley turned around, when she saw Alicia she ran to her, Bo behind her. When the both met, they explained what happened.
"My nailpolish..." Was Alicia's reaction.
"Who did this?" Carson asked. Shirley thought, and then her eyes lit up.
"OF COURSE!!!" She exclaimed, "I think I know who it is, but I can't be sure. You guys, tomorrow at twelve am we're going to meet up with your ghost."
Everyone looked a Shirley puzzeled. Shirley thought some more.
"Meet me near Antonio's cabin at eleven thirty... it's about two miles
away from Alicia and mine's cabin."
And with that Shirley walked to her cabin.
* * *
It was after curfew, and somehow, Shirley, Bo, Alicia and Carson had made it through Mr. Howie's and Ms. Strattman's check. Right now they were standing a few feet aways from Antonio's cabin. Shirley may have been interested in what was going to happen next, but the other's seemed bored.
"What time is it?" Shirley asked Bo, who looked at his watch.
"O-one m-m-minute t-to m-m-midnight...." He said through chattering
teeth.
Shirley gazed up at the full moon, it was bright as ever. A moment
later, a sound like the snapping of a branch cut through the night.
"Shhh." Shirley cautioned everyone, she stood up slowly, as did the others.
They slowly made there way to Antonio's cabin and stood outside of it for a moment. Several seconds later, Alicia felt as though something was staring at her and a crash from inside Antonio's cabin made her jump.
"Keep your eyes straight ahead," Shirley said, Alicia did. Shirley felt a nervous feeling rise up inside her, she anticipated what would be revealed in the moonlight. Before she could anticipate any further, it came into view. It was the "monster" Alicia and Carson had run away from hours earlier. Shirley slowly reached down into her coat pocket, pressed a button and then let it drop to her side.
"It's over Marco." Was all she said, the monster stopped and looked straight at her intensly. Another crash came from the cabin.
"I know that Lana's in there trying to find a piece of anything she can use to prove that Antonio's been behind everything. But really, it's been you all along."
The shape froze and took off his mask, behind it was Marco, Antonio's "long lost" brother. He glared at her.
"You're smart, chequita. How did you figure it out?" Marco asked.
"Well your accent for one. There's only one other person here that's Spanish and that's Antonio. I did a little eavesdropping and found out you're pretty hot and heavy with Lana, who is up to her neck in debts. Maybe even higher then her neck. Since you love her you'd be willing to give anything to her to let her keep the lodge. Anything that would involve your brother, Antonio. I don't know what your feud is about but it obviously bothered you a whole lot to be willing to frame Antonio for job neglect. And being an immigrant, I'm sure there would be no easiness on him in the trial. I pity you, I really do." Shirley said.
"So what are you going to do? So I did it, how can you prove it though?"
Marco asked through gritted teeth.
Shirley reached into her pocket and revealed a tape recorder.
"Well, for starters I thought I'd give this to Antonio, who by the way
is at Police Headquarters now thanks to us." Shirley smiled sweetly,
"Sorry if I ruined your life."
Bo stifled a laugh.
"Why do you do this?" Marco asked. Bo was able to answer this question.
"She has this whole thing with justice. Really quite scary. If you had waited another week you probably would've gotten away with it, but that's the breaks."
Suddenly Lana came out of Antonio's cabin.
"Marco I have something-" She was cut off by the sight of police cars
driving in, she looked at Marco, her eyes filled with tears, and she began
to sob: It was all over.
