"Hallowe'en Horror" Part 3 - By Courtney

PART THREE
"Mom? How do I look?" Shirley asked Joanna looking a slight bit
nervous. Joanna looked at her daughter, who was wearing a long white
dress, her face had been painted white, and two little intricate holes
showing were Dracula had last been were on her neck. Two parts of
Shirley's hair had been pulled back in a bun behind her head held by
pearls, her lips had a dark red lipstick on to enhance her face.
"You look like death!" Joanna laughed. Shirley smiled.
"I'll take that as a compliment. Do you think- I mean, do you think I
look okay for- oh forget I said anything," Shirley mumbled.
"I think Bo will think you look beautiful." Joanna said, giving her
daughter a kiss on the head. Shirley smiled greatfully at her mother,
then the doorbell rang.
"That's him!" Joanna said giving Shirley a thumbs up sign. Robert
walked by and whispered good luck. Shirley opened the door.
"Hey..." Shirley said smiling.
"Wow! You look beautiful." Bo said looking her up and down.
"Thanks- you look good yourself," Shirley said to Bo who was wearing a
tuxedo, his face was also a pale pale white, and he had fake vampire
teeth in his mouth.
"I thought that we'd walk if it's okay with you." Bo said nervously.
"That's fine with me- It's nice out tonight anyway. Not too cold. Bye
Mom! Bye Dad! Bye Grams!" Shirley yelled, and closed the door behind
her.
"So... um..." Bo cleared his throat. Shirley couldn't think of a way
to reply to that, so they just walked in silence.
"Can I hold your hand?" Bo asked finally breaking the silence.
"Yeah..." Shirley smiled. The held hands and walked in silence for a
little while longer.
"Bo what do you think about this?" Shirley asked, they were almost
towards the school.
"What?" Bo asked surprised.
"This... us. What do you think, I mean two years ago it was nothing
and now- it's US."
Bo squeezed Shirley's hands.
"I think it's great- if we could be together, I think that would be
great." Bo said, they both stopped, and Bo leaned towards Shirley and
kissed her.
"I think it's great too." Shirley said finally.
Bo and Shirley entered the school and made their way towards the gym
"But what if somewhere we broke up along the way?" Shirley asked
suddenly, "What would we do then? Would we still be friends?"
"If we broke up, I would HOPE that we could be friends." Bo said.
"But you don't know do you?" Shirley asked.
"Nope," Bo admitted, "But if you think about it, we're connected, we
HAVE to solve mysteries together, no matter what."
"I sure hope so," Shirley whispered, leaning on Bo, "I sure hope so."

"The decorations are great!" Shirley told Alicia. Bo went off to talk
to Stink, and Shirley to Alicia.
"Thanks!" Alicia said, "You know, maybe Stink's existence isn't a
total flaw after all."
"Where's Bart?" Shirley asked looking around.
"Oh I don't know, we split up as soon as we got here. So... you and
Bo? Parker said he saw you when his Dad drove him to the dance!"
Alicia said raising her eyebrows in interest. Shirley just smiled.
"He said he saw you kissing? So is it true Ms. Holmes, are you and
Bo... official?"
Shirley smiled and nodded.
"HAH! I was right!!!" Alicia shouted over the music.
"Guess what," she continued, "He's Scream King. I was in charge of
counting the votes for the guys. He won! And he wasn't even running!"
"Cool!" Shirley said, "I wonder who won Scream Queen." Alicia just
shrugged, then she looked at Shirley.
"You're lipstick is smudged! I wonder how THAT happened!" She said
teasingly.
"Thanks for telling me! I'm gonna go fix it. I'll talk to you later."
Shirley said, she made her way out into the hall to the bathroom.
Shirley giggled on the way, wondering how badly her lipstick was
smudged.

CLOMP CLOMP CLOMP.

Shirley turned around, was someone following her?
"Hello?" Shirley asked out into the hall. CLICK. A classroom door
closed. Shirley walked over and opened it, out of no where Shirley
felt a sharp bang on the head and then everything went black.

"Hey Alicia! The decorations are great!" Bo said walking up to Alicia,
Alicia smiled and nodded at him. "So have you seen Shirley?" He
shouted over the music.
"No!" Alicia shouted, and then gave Bo a look, "She was going to fix
up her lipstick you naughty boy! But that was a half an hour ago.
She's probably roaming the halls. Go look for her!"
Bo nodded and made his way out of the gym.

"Shirley?" He shouted into the halls. There was no answer. He searched
the halls up and down.
"Looking for your girlfriend?" Molly came out of the Girls' Bathroom.
"Yeah, actually I am. Is Shirley in there?" Bo asked trying to peer
over her shoulder.
"No. She hasn't been in here either. I've been here for the last half
hour fixing my hair- When you see her, tell her prepare to lose."
Bo felt worried inside. This wasn't like Shirley at all. Bo walked
down the hall ignoring Molly's last remark, he turned the corridors,
maybe a little to fast, because he slid and fell.
"Ow!" Bo said, he sat up and put his hand on something wet. "What
the?" He muttered, he looked down at his fingers and saw something
sticky gooey and red.
"Ah!" Bo gasped. He jumped up shakily, and noticed that there were
tiny little drops leading in a trail. He followed them until he came
to a door. Bo opened it slowly and turned on the lights.
"Shirley?" He whispered, he saw a white dress on the ground.
"Shirley?" He said worridly he ran over to and saw Shirley lying on
the ground, most of her dress was covered in blood, and she was
unconcious.
"Shirley!!!" Bo gasped, he grabbed for her wrist and searched for a
pulse, when he found one.
"Then what's all this blood?" He muttered. "Shirley?" Bo shook her a
little, Shirley groaned and opened her eyes slowly.
"Bo... what? What's going on? Where am I?" Shirley asked sleepily.
"I found you here. What happened?" Bo asked, helping Shirley sit up.
"It was dark... I didn't see. Someone hit me on the head."
"God! I was so worried. I thought you were dead!" Bo gasped, he gave
Shirley a hug.
"No but you will be." A soft voice rang out. Bo and Shirley looked up,
a tall, short haired blonde girl was standing in the corner.
"Well, it's sweet that you two have a had a chance to reunite..." The
girl said, she giggled a little.
"Who ARE you?" Bo asked. Shirley just looked at her, and suddenly felt
a wave of dizziness wash over her.
"Not who she IS Bo, who she was." Shirley said. The girl's eyes
snapped up.
"Who was I?" She asked eagerly, as though someone was telling her a
story. Shirley tried to stand up.
"Why can't I stand first?" Shirley demanded to know.
"Oh, it's just the drug I gave you- you should be out soon. I gave it
to you so you wouldn't feel the pain, but then HE showed up. You get
to sleep while you're boyfriend- well you'll know soon. Now tell me
who I was."
Shirley's head was swimming, but she managed to just speak.
"You- you're Lia Harson. Y-you faked your d-death didn't y-you?"
"Shirley?" Bo asked quizzically.
"It's just the drug honey, don't worry. Yes. When Strattman won I
couldn't stand it, and you probably know this. Well, I couldn't go
back to the mental hospital, I didn't need to be there! But I needed
to win! So I faked my death, and Strattman had to live with this all
her life. But not tonight, no, not tonight. Tonight, I get my crown.
But I had to get the two runners out of the running first. You're
smart and you still wouldn't quite. Getting rid of the blonde
shouldn't be too difficult. She's so cocky, so much like Strattman.
Well, anyways, first things first, I'm going to lock you in here-
there are a few things in here drench with gasoline. So now I am going
to set this room on fire." Lia said simply.
"P-ple-ase," Shirley tried to speak, and then leaned her head back and
closed her eyes. Lia looked at Bo.
"I'm sorry I don't have any drugs to give you." She said
apologetically.

"YOU'RE CRAZY!!!!" Bo screamed. Lia's eyes went dark.
"I AM NOT CRAZY! You know, maybe if you had said something nice, that
would've bought you a couple more minutes- but sorry! Not now!" Lia
said, she lit a match and threw it onto the desk, which quickly caught
fire.
"Have fun!" Lia sang out, slamming and locking the door.
"Oh god!" Bo jumped up. He took off his jacket and started whapping at
the flames furiously, but they were too strong and wouldn't go out.
Our only hope now is to get out of here, Bo thought. He ran back to
Shirley, who looked like she was asleep.
"Shirley! Shirley!" Bo yelled, he shook her, but Shirley didn't
respond.
"Argh," Bo muttered as he put Shirley's arm around his neck and half
carried-half dragged her towards the door.
"No offence Shirley," He muttered to himself, "But you're not as light
as you look."
Bo kicked at the door, the smoke was beginning to overcome him. He
gave one last kick and flew out of the door with Shirley. They both
fell to the ground. Coughing, Bo jumped up and grabbed the fire
extinguisher, luckily it looked like the fire was staying on the desk.
He sprayed it spastically, but the fire went out. Staggering he want
back to the hall and fell down.
"Bo?" Bo looked up to the sound of his name. Alicia, and Stink ran
towards them.
"Man what happened?" Stink asked waving the smoke away, Alicia knelt
down by Bo.
"Ther- there was a *cough* fire- we were *cough* *cough* locked in
*cough* I- I got us out..." Bo gasped for air and rested his head on
the wall and closed his eyes.
"Us?" Alicia asked, and then she looked at Shirley, "Ohmigod, we need
an ambulence! Shirley's dead!" Stink jumped.
"No! NO! She's just *cough cough* drugged.." Bo began to explain the
whole story to them.
"Wow." Alicia said in awe, "Where do you think that she went?"
"I *cough cough* don't *cough* know..." Bo said.
"Man, are you alright?" Stink asked, glancing worridly at Bo.
"Water... *cough*" Bo said realizing how dry his throat was. He leaned
over and shook Shirley.
"Shirley? Shirley?" He coughed out. Shirley didn't move.
"Your sure she's not dead?" Alicia asked. Bo nodded as he took the
water and took a long sip of it.
"Much better." Bo said without coughing, he took the remainder of the
water and splashed it on Shirley, who groaned.
"Well a prince your not!" Stink muttered thinking about the story
Sleeping Beauty.
"B-Bo?" Shirley whispered without opening her eyes.
"I'm here!" Bo assured her.
"A-are w-we dead?" Shirley asked.
"No." Bo laughed.
"Why isn't she opening her eyes?" Alicia demanded to know.
"She's still out of it- whatever Lia gave her must've been pretty
strong," Bo thought aloud, "But as long as she's half aware that's
better than nothing."
"There about to announce the Queen and King!" Alicia gasped, "We have
to get to the gym!"
"Come on get Shirley to her feet!" Bo grunted.

Lia looked around the room from the corner of the gym. She glared as
she saw the two she locked in the burning room enter the gym.
"How did they get out?" She said aloud. But she smirked when she saw
that they were pretty much carrying the girl. If she was announced
Scream Queen they'd disqualify her, thinking that she was drunk or
something. Not that it mattered or anything, they wouldn't have time
to announce the winner anyway.

"Shirley? Shirley? Open your eyes, look at me!" Bo said shaking
Shirley a little. The last thing they needed was for Ms. Strattman to
come over talk to them, and then look at Shirley and accuse her of
having too much to drink. Shirley opened her eyes slowly, looking very
dazed.
"I can't focus.." She mumbled.
"That's alright," Bo said, "Just as long as you keep them opened.
We're gonna sit down now, okay?" Bo looked around and realized people
were staring. Suddenly Molly walked over smiling to herself.
"Have too much to drink?" Molly asked snidly to Shirley, whose eyes
were closing. "Really Bo, we knew that you were a bad boy from the
start, but we never thought you'd do this!"
"Shirley, open your eyes." Bo demanded, Alicia and Stink walked over.
"How is she?" Alicia asked.
"Not responding. What the heck did Lia give her? Morphine? What?" Bo
was frustrated.
"Give her?" Molly asked, looking genuinly human for a minute, "What's
going on?"
Alicia explained this time, Molly looked angry.
"She can't make me lose my crown!!!" She shouted, then she regained
her cool, "The first thing we have to do it find her, and distract
Strattman from coming over here right? Bo and I will look for Lia,
Stink stay with Shirley and Alicia distract Strattman."
Everyone agreed and seperated.

"Where is she?" Molly asked Bo. Bo shrugged his shoulders. Suddenly a
voice came over the microphone.
"Take a minute everyone, we just need your attention!" Ms. Strattman
was up at the mike.
"It is my pleasure," She said with a tight-lipped uncomfortable smile,
"To announce this years Scream Queen and King. If we could get the
Queen and King to come up together? The King is none other than our
own Bo Sawchuck!!!"
Bo stood still, shocked.
"Great," Molly muttered, "I have to share a title with YOU?"
"And now for the Queen. This years Queen is-"
At that precise moment the power went out and a voice cried out "ME!"
all the emergency lights went on and everyone's gaze turned towards
the voice, Lia Harson.
"It's me!" She said crazily, "For once it's me me me me me! Remember
me Strattman?"
"Who ARE you?" Ms. Strattman asked, flabbegasted.
"You mean who was I?" Lia asked looking at Shirley for a moment, "It
took me forever, but I'll finally get my crown. I deserved it after
all those years!"
"Lia?" Ms. Strattman whispered.
"Yeppers!" Lia said prancing on stage, "I'm surprised you remember me?
So caught up in all your glory all the time, with your crown and your
title, your job."
"But your dead...?" Ms. Strattman gasped.
"No, I faked it. And it looks like you went through quite a bit. I
heard you still go to a therapist. Is that true? You needed the
therapy more than I did."
"How could you?" Ms. Strattman asked. Lia began to get angry.
"How could I? You took my crown!"
Molly reached into her handbag and dialed 911, explaining her
situation to the police.
"I died the day I found out I didn't win." Lia said quietly, "I lost
my acceptance in a crowd! They wanted to take me away you know! But I
wouldn't let them. I went through everything. Like I said, I died. And
now you die too!"
Lia reached into her pocket and pulled out a small knife and giggled.
The audience gasped.
"It's tiny isn't it? An itsy-bitsy knife. But I'm sure if you" Lia
pretended to jab the knife into an imaginary person and twist it, "If
you did that- well- you'd die wouldn't you." She advanced on Ms.
Strattman, and grabbed her quickly, holding the knife up to her throat.

"Any last words?" She whispered. Ms. Strattman began to cry.
"POLICE! FREEZE!" A voice shouted. Lia froze and started to laugh as
the police ran onto the stage and hand cuffed her. She laughed
hysterically as they dragged her out and when she was gone, you could
still hear her laugh.
