review:    First, Faith obviously is evil. No question here. And I must say, I worried about this episode because I did not want to see an Angelus retread. But after seeing it, I loved it! Loved loved loved loved loved loved LOVED!!!!!!!!! it!!!!!!!!!! It was awesome.
I did guess from the beginning that angel was faking. Allow me too elaborate. 1: Angelus would never go along with the mayor. 2. When Angelus said he wanted to "main and kill" Buffy, that clicked it. Knowing Angelus like we do, he wouldn't do that. he's not a "maim and kill" type, at least to Buffy. The rest, yes. Not Buffy. David Boreanaz did such a superb job tonight I can't even comment on it! Making "Angelus" so different from Angel, yet at the same time different enough from real Angelus that someone who's seen Innocence, Passion and Becoming as many times as I have could tell the difference.  Still, it was set up in such a way that I certainly didn't know absolutely.  It really could have gone either way.  The twists in this episode were brilliantly written and executed, a credit to David, SMG, Douglas Petrie's effective script.
And I'm really liking the mayor. He just amuses me more and more every episode.  Also, this episode did what 'bad girls' and 'consequences' failed to do, which was really pique my interest in faith's character again.
That demon angle was brilliant. I thought Angel just had a strong enough hold on his soul to resist, I never thought Giles had set it up! It seemed a little weird that the demon the mayor called on happened to know Giles, but perhaps the mayor didn't call on him specifically, just a group of mystic ninjas, and this guy went because he knew Giles, and saw a chance to pay him back.  Giles just rocks every which way but loose! Actually, he pretty much rocks loose too! Wesley is okay, I like that he's playing the game according to the rules of the field and  not the counsel. And the poor guy is trying so hard to resist Cordelia! I'm thinking still that she's only latched onto him as a way to stay in the scooby gang. 'Cause he's still kinda a dork.  I really like Wesley. I commented earlier that no reoccurring character has impacted the show like Ms. calendar, well Wesley comes pretty close. Obviously he's nothing like Jenny, but I really like him.
Coolest line? "Second best" angel can be really cool given the chance, when he's not Buffy-whipped. His show will rock. I do hope we get some glimpses of Angelus with it.  Especially if those glimpses involve Julie Benz's Darla.  And has Buffy actually seen Waiting for Godot? I highly doubt it. And if she has, did she understand it?  It was a neat line also.
David Grossman did a good job with the direction.  The most effective scene was when Faith found out the truth.  The slow-mo camera mode was quite effective.  As usual, Chris Beck's score was impressive.
All and all, I was sitting on the edge of my seat, tingling with anticipation and nervousness the entire time.  Totally got me geared up for the rest of the season at a time when I was really losing interest.  Hell, it inspired me enough to go back to reviews! 10/10

I want feedback! If you agree with me, post it here. You don't even have to tell me who you are, I have a nice simple form...
