A NIGHT IN
PJ was on an early shift which started at 6am. Maggie wasnt set to start till 8am along with the other heelers, but Maggie arrived much earlier.
THE STATION
Maggie: PJ
PJ walks out of his office
PJ: Maggs, your early
MAGGIE: Yeh, Ive got some reports to finish and I thought
PJ: You Thought
MAGGIE: Well, that you may want some company.
PJ: Well, thankyou for thinking of me Maggie Doyle. Do you want a cup of Coffee?
MAGGIE: Yes Please
PJ goes into the kitchen, Maggie follows
MAGGIE: PJ
PJ: I thought you had some reports to finish
MAGGIE: Yeah, I do but..
PJ: Yeah,
Maggie: Well, I was thinking last night
PJ: Yeah, what about?
MAGGIE: Nothing much
PJ: Welll if your trying to tell me what you though it must be important
MAGGIE: Well, its just about what happened after we got out of the mine
PJ: Yeah, Im fine with what you said
MAGGIE: And then at the Murder Mystery Weekend
PJ: Yeah,
MAGGIE: Well, I was thinking that I may of made the wrong decision. I know it was months ago but I havent been able to stop thinking about it, and you and
well.
PJ: You know I do love you
MAGGIE: I was wondering if you were feeling the same way?
PJ hands a cup of coffee to Maggie
PJ: Yes, I have been. Things havent been the same but I dont want to do anything you dont want to.
MAGGIE: But thats the thing, I dont know what I want anymore.
PJ: Well, I can tell you what I want. I want you to be happy.
MAGGIE: The only way Ill be happy is to take the chance. Otherwise Ill always regret it.
PJ: Are you saying what I think you are?
MAGGIE: Well, I think so.
PJ: Are you sure?
MAGGIE: Are you trying to talk me out of it?
PJ: I would never do that, I love you.
PJ puts his coffee down and takes Maggies as well and puts it onto the bench beside her and the gives her a kiss. As this was happening Dash walks in and yells "
PJ, I thought Id come in early. You know, paperwork to catch up on" not knowing where he was. As soon as they both, Maggie and PJ heard this they quickly left
each other hands reaching for there coffee but picking up the wrong on each.
DASH: And also do you know where Maggie
MAGGIE: Yeah, I came in early too. (Grinning)
DASH: But you got no work to catch up on, look at your desk, its spotless.
PJ: Um, I did it for her. Had nothing to do when I got here
PJ and Maggie look at each other. Dash notices this and goes in to the locker room, taking her bike and closing the door
RADIO: VKC to Mt. Thomas Police station.
MAGGIE: Mt. Thomas Police station
RADIO: Report of a overturned truck on the High Way.
MAGGIE: Any other vehicles involved
RADIO: Negative Mt. Thomas Police Station
MAGGIE: Well take a look
THE CI CAR
PJ: So what are you doing after work?
MAGGIE: Why?
PJ: Well, I thought we could go to the little French restaurant on the outskirts of town. The one the well, you were meant to take me too, and the one that you
thought I took Gina to.
MAGGIE: You never took Gina to it?
PJ: Why would I? You were the one the offered to take me there, but you never called.
MAGGIE: Me, Dash told me youd ring. She cheeked the reservations and told me that you booked a table for 2 under the name of HASHAM.
PJ: No, No! That was Chris who did that. Shes been wanting me to well, ask you out on a date for, a very long time.
MAGGIE: Why dont we keep the restaurant idea for another time.
PJ: Are you turning me down?
MAGGIE: No, I get Dash to go out for the night and you can come around to my place.
PJ: Thats a good idea, I feel like a night in.
MAGGIE: Youll be at my place
PJ: Look, were here
THE HIGHWAY
Maggie and PJ find the truck. The driver had already called for a tow truck on his mobile and had even started to clean up. Maggie and PJ started to help.
PJ: So what happened, Mr
DRIVER: Smith. I dont no, I just was coming around the bend and it tipped.
MAGGIE: Are you okay?
DRIVER: Fine
PJ: Have you been drinking at all in the last 24 hours?
DRIVER: No, besides a beer last night at a pub in Melbourne.
The tow trucks arrive and the driver goes to see him.
PJ: So what time should I come around tonight?
MAGGIE: I ring you after Dash goes.
PJ: Are you going to tell Dash?
MAGGIE: About what? Were just too very very good friends who would like to have a drink and a bit to eat together at home. (Smiling )
PJ: Well then. I be waiting by the phone.
PJ and Maggie move aside as the Tow Truck pulls the truck upwards into the right position. The road cas cleared up by now so the driver left after PJ got his licence
number. Then Maggie and PJ leave.
THE STATION
It is now 11:30am as the accident on the highway took up most of the morning
PJ: Hi, were back.
TOM: Hi, was it a bad turn?
MAGGIE: No, its all cleared up now.
MAGGIE: Dash, can I speak to you for a minuter (Looking at PJ)
Maggie walks into the locker room and Dash follows.
THE LOCKER ROOM
DASH: Yeah, Maggie?
MAGGIE: I was just wondering what you were doing tonight?
DASH: Im just having a few old friends over. That okay isnt it?
MAGGIE: Yeah, thats fine
Maggie and Dash walk out of the Locker room and Maggie heads towards C.I office. PJ follows getting the hint THE CI OFFICE
PJ: So what did she say?
MAGGIE: Shes staying in as shes having a few old friends over
PJ: Oh
MAGGIE: What Nick doing tonight?
PJ: Dont know. Can you get him?
MAGGIE: Yeah sure, I will.
Maggie walk out into the main office
THE MAIN OFFICE
MAGGIE: Nick, PJ wants to see you
Nick goes into the C.I office
DASH: So whats all that about?
MAGGIE: Not sure (Blushing)
DASH: Com on.
MAGGIE: I really dont know
Nick walks back in to the main office smiling and Maggie goes back in to the C.I office
DASH: What was the about?
NICK: Oh, PJ just wants me to go out for the night tonight. He want the house to himself.
DASH: Thats funny
NICK: Why?
DASH: Well, its just that Maggie asks me if I was doing anything tonight. I think she wanted the house to her self but Ive got some friends coming over.
NICK: Well, Well, I wonder what we have here?
Maggie and PJ walk out of the CI office
NICK: Maggie, PJ kicked me out of the house for the night. Would you like to have tea with me down at the Imperial?
Maggie looks at PJ
MAGGIE: Thankyou but I think Ill have an early night tonight.
MAGGIE AND DASHS HOUSE
DASH: Where are you going? I thought you were having an early night?
MAGGIE: Something came up, I wont be home till late if at all
DASH: Okay
THE IMPERIAL
PJ: Hi Chris, just a bottle of wine thanks.
CHIRS: Your not staying tonight?
PJ: No
CHRIS: Red or white?
PJ: UmmRed.top shelf
Chris hands the bottle to PJ and PJ hands her some money
CHRIS: Do you know wheres his going?
TOM: No
NICK: I have a fair idea.
Half an hour later
MAGGIE: Hi Chris
CHRIS: Hi Maggie. Why are you so dressed up?
MAGGIE: Im just going out
CHRIS: Are you?
MAGGIE: Yeah, but no where special.
CHIRS: Okay. So what will it be?
MAGGIE: Just a bottle of red pleasetop shelf.
CHRIS: Well, Well..(Grinning)
PJ AND NICKS PLACE
Maggie Knocks on the door three times but no one answer. She was a minute and know again. Maggie was getting very worried so she yelled out "PJ" and then the
door was opened.
MAGGIE: PJ, what took you so long?
PJ: It wasnt that long. Were you getting worried?
MAGGIE: No
PJ and Maggie walk though to the kichten
MAGGIE: I bought this
PJ: Yeah, I got one too
The both look and find they bought the exact same brand
MAGGIE: Where did you get it?
PJ: The Imperial. You?
MAGGIE: The Imperial. You?
PJ: Same
MAGGIE: No wonder (Laughing)
PJ: No wonder what?
MAGGIE: What Chris was just, well she wasnt acting normal
PJ: Do you think she knows?
MAGGIE: Well knows about this
Maggie kisses PJ
PJ: Yeah
PJ kisses Maggie
MAGGIE: Probably
They kiss again
PJ: Do you care?
MAGGIE: There all going to find out someday anyway. By the way, whats all this?
PJ: What? The Candles, Tablecloth, Flowers?
MAGGIE: Yeah
PJ: I just thought that they would add a nice touce
MAGGIE: There nice, what for tea?
PJ: Tea, Tea..ummm.oh tea.
Maggie looked worried and then they heard a knock on the door.
PJ: Be back in a sec
PJ went to answer the door.
NICK: I thought you might want this.
PJ: What is it?
NICK: Food
PJ: Thanks. Why?
NICK: Well there hardly any food in the house to cook so what were you going to cook Maggie?
PJ: What?
NICK: You know.
PJ: Thanks
PJ takes the bag to the kitchen after closing the door.
MAGGIE: Who was that?
PJ: No one
MAGGIE: So whats for tea?
PJ: This (PJ holds up the bag)
MAGGIE: So thats who it was. The delivery boy. What is it?
PJ: Take a look for yourself.
Maggie looks inside the bag
MAGGIE: Yum.Chinese
PJ: Yeah, I thought youd like it.
PJ gets two plates and lays the food out on them and then puts the plates onto the table then pulls out a chair for maggie and sits down. They began to eat.
1 hour later
Maggie: That was nice.
PJ: Yeah, it was. What do you want to do now?
Maggie: Why dont I help you with the dishes.
PJ: No, No. Why dont we go on a walk and grab a movie down the shops?
Maggie: Thats a good idea.
Maggie and PJ go out the front door after blowing out the candles. After PJ looked the door PJ held Maggies hand
OUT SIDE
Maggie: So what Chinese shop delivers around here?
PJ: Oh, just the Nick one.
Maggie: Well, Ive never heard of that (Lauging)
PJ: To tell you the truth, I completely forgot about any food.
MAGGIE: How did Nick know then?
PJ: Dont know. But he knew there was no food in the house as we eat down the pub most nights of get take-away.
MAGGIE: PJ
PJ: I still dont know how he found out you were with me though?
MAGGIE: Dash and him must of got the message when we spoke to them about getting out of the house.
PJ: Must of
MAGGIE: Why dont we go get a drink at the pub?
PJ: Why?
MAGGIE: Im sure Nick is there as well as Chris and Im sure they would both like the laugh
PJ: Okay
PJ and Maggie walk towards The Imperial
THE IMPERIAL
Maggie and PJ walk in holding hands
PJ: Hi Chris
CHRIS: Hi. What are you do here? (Not noticing Maggie)
PJ: What? Isnt Maggie and I allowed to have a friendly drink?
CHRIS: Oh, Maggie. How are you?
MAGGIE: How are you?
CHRIS: Fine. You?
MAGGIE: Fine.
PJ: Can we just have the usual.
CHRIS: Coming right up.
Maggie and PJ walk towards a table by the window. They see Dash and her friends come in
DASH: Maggie, PJ
MAGGIE AND PJ: Hi Dash
CHRIS: Here you are
PJ: Thanks
MAGGIE: Wheres Nick
CHRIS: He left about 5 minutes before you came in. Some how I think he wanted to spring you to, if you know what I mean,
PJ: Spring what?
CHRIS: Com on. You know.
Maggie: Hay Dash, how long are you too going to be here for.
DASH: A while, but I wont be home. I go to go to Sallys place for the night after this. Its a quicker walk and I havnt seen her brother in a while.
PJ: Brother
MAGGIE: So PJ, what are you doing for the rest of the night?
PJ: Sleeping
MAGGIE: Ha, Ha. Where?
PJ: What are you saying?
MAGGIE: Oh, Im just asking you if you want to come back to my place.
PJ: Are you sure.
MAGGIE: Why would I bother asking you if I wasnt
PJ: Do you still want to get the video
MAGGIE: No reason why not.
PJ got up and went to pay Chris for their drinks and then Maggie got up and followed PJ out of the out of the pub.
THE VIDEO STORE
MAGGIE: Why dont we get this one
PJ: Its too..ummYou wouldnt like it. How about this?
MAGGIE: Are you sure? It very romantic?
PJ: I know
MAGGIE: Have you got a soft spot Patrick Josaph.
PJ: You forgot the HASHAM
MAGGIE: Com on well get this one.
MAGGIE AND DASHS HOUSE
On their way home PJ was teasing Maggie about all her faults like when she shot the dog on her first day in Mt. Thomas.
MAGGIE: PJ
PJ: What am I doing?
MAGGIE: You know exactly what your doing! I could name a few of your faults too.
PJ: Like what.
They walk into the lunge room and put the video in and then PJ sat down and Maggie layed down with her head on PJs lap and the beagan to watch the video.
VIDEO: Have you ever rented a video that wasnt quite up to scratch.
Maggie fells asleep and PJ began to put his fingers though Maggies hair but Maggie soon got up and lead PJ into her room
A few hours later Dash came home and opened the door to Maggies room finding Maggie and PJ.
Dash: Sorry
PJ: What
MAGGIE: Thats okay, what do you want?
DASH: I just wanted to tell you I was home and that I didnt stay at Sallys his brother wasnt home if you know what I mean (Forgetting that PJ was there)
PJ: Oh, Im sorry
Dash closes goes out of the room and closes the door behind her
MAGGIE: Shes got perfect timing
PJ: We were only asleep
THE STATION
(The next Morning)
PJ and Maggie walk in together in the morning running late and Nick, Tom and Adam is already there.
NICK: What happened to you last night?
PJ: Nothing Much
PJ and Maggie go into the CI office
ADAM: What was that about?
NICK: Nothing Much, lets just say that Maggie came over to out place last night while I was out and then they both disappeared.
ADAM: Where?
NICK: Maggies I guess.
ADAM: Well have to ask Dash when she gets in
Tom came out of the office
TOM: Wheres Dash?
ADAM: I guess shes running late. By the sounds of it the whole house was running late this moring.
NICK: Why dont you ask Maggie. Shes in with PJ!
THE C.I OFFICE
Tom goes in to the CI office without knocking and finds both of them kissing.
TOM: Sorry, Ill come back later
MAGGIE: Sorry, what did you want?
TOM: I just wanted to ask where Dash was.
PJ: Oh, she said shell be in a little late. She has to go and see a friends brother (Joking)
TOM: Sorry
Tom leaves the room and closes the door behind him.
MAGGIE: Do you think he cared?
PJ: I dont think so
MAGGIE: He wont spilt us up will he?
PJ: Stop stressing
MAGGIE: But, I dont want this to stuff up like everything else in my life
PJ: What this.
MAGGIE: Well, its just that everytime I get close to someone something seems to happen.
PJ: Like Sean and Roman
MAGGIE: Yes
PJ: Dont worry. The Boss wont spilt us up.
MAGGIE: Are you sure?
PJ: Why dont we go and speak to him
Maggie and PJ go though the main office to Toms Office. On their way Dash arrives.
TOMS OFFICE
MAGGIE: About before
TOM: Dont worry about it
MAGGIE: We dont want you to get the wrong idea.
TOM: Maggie, dont worry about it
PJ: Were just worried that you spilt us up working together
TOM: Dont be silly. Your a good team, just dont let it affect your work.
MAGGIE: We wont.
PJ: Thanks Boss
TOM: Thats okay, its about time anyway
MAGGIE: Yeah (Looking Confused)
THE MAIN OFFICE
PJ: See that wasnt so bad
MAGGIE: Yeah I guess so
DASH: Sorry about last night
PJ: Oh thats okay Dash.
MAGGIE: Yeah, its fine. Dont worry about it.
Maggie and PJ return to the C.I Office
ADAM: Do what happened last night?
DASH: Nothing much, I just had a few friends over and went down to the pub
NICK: Anything else?
DASH: Well when I went to tell Maggie I was home
ADAM: Yeah
DASH: I caught PJ and Maggie ..
NICK: I think we get the picture
DASH: It wasnt exactly like that
ADAM: And
DASH: They were also down the pub together.
NICK: I knew it!
ADAM: Knew what?
NICK: You know! Maggie and PJ
ADAM: Yeah, I guess it was about time
DASH: Are you a bit jalous?
ADAM: Come off it
RADIO: VKC to Mt. Thomas.
