PJ's Diary By Sarah Partridge Dear Diary, Well it's been three weeks since the unforgettable time in the mineshaft with Maggie and about two weeks since I have written in here. Nothing much else happened between Maggs and I until yesterday. It all began when Maggie got a phone call from her friend Kate who said she was coming to Mount Thomas for a week or so and she wanted to get in touch with Maggie. Once she was here herself and Maggie became great mates again, and they were having a really great time. Kate was a single mother of two and she was having a break from here kids while her ex-husband took a turn of looking after them. Anyway, getting back to the point yesterday morning Kate got a call from her ex saying that her eighteen month old son had spilt boiling water all over himself. So Kate packed up her things and left Mount Thomas straight away, it was then driving back to Melbourne that she got in a terrible car accident and was killed, it had a terrible effect on Maggs as she had been friends with Kate for about 17 years. It was that night when I thought the station was empty that I went into the locker rooms to make sure that the window was closed and the lights were off that I found Maggie sitting on the floor knees bent and head in hands crying. I put my arm around her and she turned to me and said, "I thought everyone had gone," "So did I," I replied. I just sat there with her in my arms for about five minutes, then I said to her, "Come on Doyley, I'll give you a lift home." We stood up and left the station, and I gave her a ride home. When we got there she invited me in for a coffee and I accepted. It was then sitting on her couch that she told me about all the great time that she had with Kate. Her bringing back her own old memories made her start to cry. So I put my arm around her and wiped away her tears with my hand. She gazed into my eyes and I looked right back. Then I slowly moved forward and kissed her deeply, and she returned it in the same way. It was this morning that we were lying in Maggie's bed and she was asleep in my arms that I realised how much I loved her. When she awoke I went for a shower and we had breakfast and we left for work. The only problem was that everyone noticed that I was wearing exactly the same clothes as I had the day before, and they got a bit suspicious. Anyway, I have to go now as the boss wants me to go chase a lead on a cold burg. PJ Dear PJ Thank you for last night, it meant a lot to me knowing that you are there for me when I need you, like a true friend. But that's all we are, good friends, and we've sort of already established that we can't have a relationship while we're working together, then we'd get split up for good, and I really don't want that. Please don't be mad at me PJ, I really do love you a lot, and as much as I want it, it just won't work. Love Maggie/xx Dear Diary, I found this letter on my desk this morning, and as soon as I read it my heart sank. I was so overwhelmed that we were on our way to something special, but now all chance of that has gone. It's been about an hour since I wrote the above, and I have written a letter to Maggs telling her how I feel: Dear Maggie, I'm glad you feel for me what I feel for you, but I don't agree with you on one thing and that is that it wont work between us. I really really want this and I know we can makeit work. What I suggest is this, we keep our relationship a secret for as long as we can, or for as long as we want, then we tell the boss what we feel for each other, and if that plan doesn't work, we'll work something out. I really don't want to let you slip away like you have before. Come to my office tonight when everyone has gone home, and we'll talk it over. All my Love PJ Now all I have to do is put it on her desk tomorrow, and hope that one of the other sticky beak constables don't get it before she does. Oh well better get some sleep. PJ Dear Diary, Today was, well how do you put it, different! I put the letter on Maggie's desk this morning. Then in the car when Dash, Maggie and I were driving up to Widgeree (To investigate a cold burg) I could tell that Dash knew there was something going on between Maggs and I, because not one of us said anything all the way up there. It was later that night, when everyone had gone (just like I said) that Maggie came into my office and sat down on my desk while we discussed the possibilities of having a relationship. In the end we decided to give it a go and to do it the way I had planned. When we had finished discussing it we went down to the Imperial and had a few drinks with the others. When I looked at Maggie I could tell that she was as happy as me about our relationship. Although we promised not to tell anyone I had to let someone know, and I knew that someone would be good old Chris Riley. But as I was telling her she admitted that she already knew and that Maggie had told her just a few minutes ago. It was great to know that we confined in the same people, and we both knew who we could trust. After dinner and drinks Maggs came back to my place, and she is now asleep as I am sitting here at 1:32am. I guess I had better get some sleep. PJ ______________________________________________________ Dear Diary, God, it's been so long since I've written I here. It must be at least two months now. Well the relationship between Maggs and I is going great, so great in fact that we have decided to get married! As well as that yesterday Maggie found out that she was pregnant. There's just so much going on, I'm so happy!!! On top of all this the boss gave us his blessing with the marriage. (As I knew he would) He's also planned for us to have time off for the honey moon and more time off for Maggie who will need to be going on maternity leave in six or seven months. Oh well, got to get going, Maggs is here to go house hunting. The very changed and happy. PJ Dear Diary, Well PJ and I found an absolutely beautiful house, it's a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom little cottage, and it's just down the road from the station which makes it absolutely perfect all round. I can tell PJ's so happy, so much in fact that you can see it in his eyes, and I have to admit that I feel the same way. We've decided that if we have a girl, that we are going to call it Kate, after my friend that got PJ and I together in the first place, after loving each other for four long years. Oh well, better get to work. Maggie Any comments or complaints welcome! Just E-Mail me at partridg@ca.com.au.
