Karaoke Love!

After the episode "Gold," but before the episode "Possession." First scene; Maggie's 
alone in the station, well she thinks she is, PJ's
actually in his office.

***All the characters below belong to Southern star and Hal McElroy. And the song I've 
used
belongs to Newton!!***

"Fundraising, fundraising," Maggie Doyle mumbled to herself as she sat 
alone in the middle of the station. "Want a coffee Maggs?" asked PJ walking 
out of his office.
"Oh, PJ, I didn't know you were here, isn't it a bit early for you," she 
laughed. "But yeah, I will have a coffee thanks." Two minutes later PJ 
walked over to her desk
putting a cup of coffee down in front of her. "Hey PJ, what can we do for a 
fundraiser?" she asked. "Anything as long as it's not another murder mystery 
party," he
replied. "Didn't you like our weekend together ?" "Yeah, apart from the fact 
hat I ended up working, plus I could have been somewhere more private and romantic
with you," he said looking deep into her eyes. "Yeah, well maybe next time," 
she replied looking back at him. "Promises, promises Margaret," he said standing up
and breaking their stare. "Right now all I need to do is think of something for a 
fundraiser," she said looking back down to the papers in front of her. "Well don't ask
me," he said turning around and walking back to his office. "Ask Dash or Chris, they 
always come up with creative ideas." "Speak of the devil," replied Maggie as
she saw Dash wheeling her bike into the station. "What, what'd I do?" Dash said with 
a worried look on her face. "Nothing," replied Maggie. "I just need some ideas
for a fundraiser." "Oh," replied Dash, "Ok, I'll try and think of some, and I'll get 
back to you." "Thanks Dash," replied Maggie.

 

Later that day at about 12:30 Dash came up to Maggie saying "I've got it." "Got what?" 
asked Maggie. "An idea for the fundraiser," Dash said. "Yeah, what is it?"
Maggie asked eagerly. "Well, I was thinking of a karaoke night at the pub, and once 
you're in you get two free beers." "Ok, but how exactly do we get money out of
this Dash?" "Well, you charge an entry fee of about $40…." "Wow, hang on a sec Dash, 
don't you think that's a bit steep," Maggie interrupted. "Just let me finish.
With the $40 entry fee you get two free beers/wines or spirits, and you also get a 
chance to win a raffle with a big prize like a car or a holiday or something. All we
need is to find someone to donate a prize and to check it with Chris." "Dash, Adam, 
will you hurry up and go get the lunches, I'm starving," called PJ from his office.
"Yeah we're going," replied Dash. "Hang on a sec will you Dash," Maggie said. "Adam, 
PJ come here a sec will you," said Maggie. "Fine just leave me out, I don't
mind," said Nick at his desk pretending to cry. "Shut up Nick," PJ and Dash chorused. 
"Ok, this is the plan, PJ you and me will go get the lunches, and discuss it
with Chris," "Discuss what?" Hang on a sec PJ," Maggie replied. "While Dash, you and 
Adam go to the travel agents and see what you can get for a prize." "Prize for
what?" asked Adam. "Long story," said Maggie walking out the door. "I'll explain in 
the car," added Dash, and with that she and Adam left. "Shultz, where has
everyone gone," said Tom coming out of his office. "I don't know, they just all got 
up and left me," he said still pretending to cry.

 

AT THE PUB

 

"PJ, Maggie, what are you doing here," asked Chris. "Search me," replied PJ. "It's a 
long story. Could we grab the lunches please Chris?" asked Maggie. "Yeah
sure," said Chris walking out to the kitchen to get them. When she came back Maggie 
said to her, "Um, Chris, would it be alright if we held a fundraiser here, it's a
karaoke night, with a big raffle draw." "Yeah sure as long as you let me know when it 
is," replied Chris. "Oh we will," said Maggie leaving the pub and dragging PJ
along with her.

 

Dash you back yet," Maggie called as she walked into the station. "Yeah Maggs, I'm in 
here she called back from the locker room. "Did you get a prize?" Maggie
asked. "Yeah actually I got a trip for two people to Perth, staying in the Hilton for 
five nights," replied Dash walking out of the locker room waving the tickets
around. "Great, all we need to do now is pick a night and advertise it." "And hire a 
karaoke thingy. Hey, did you ask Chris?" said Dash. "Yep, and she said it's fine
as long as we let her know when it is." "Ok then, when shall we do it?" "Um, how about 
next Friday night," suggested Maggie. "Sounds fine to me," replied Dash.
"Then Friday it is," added Maggie.

 

NEXT FRIDAY

 

"So Maggs, what time shall I pick you up tonight?" asked PJ as himself and Maggie walked 
into the C.I office. "Um, about 7 o'clock, and by the way I'm going now
because my shift is over," she said walking out again. "Ok then," PJ said to himself.

 

7 O'CLOCK MAGGIE AND DASH'S HOUSE

 

***Ding dong***

 

"I'll get it," called Dash from the kitchen. She ran to the door with a smile on her 
face, and when she opened the door and saw PJ the smile disappeared. "Oh, it's
you," she said. "Why thank you Dash, and it's so very nice to see you too!" PJ teased. 
"Sorry, I was expecting someone else…. Come in." "So is Maggs ready yet,"
he asked. "Yeah, she's just coming," replied Dash.

 

THE IMPERIAL

**2.5 hours later**

 

"Ok everyone, it's time to draw the winner to the beautiful holiday to Perth," said 
Chris into the karaoke microphone. "And the winner is…….. Kate Collins,
congratulations Kate, please come up to receive your prize." (About 40 seconds later) 
"Kate, Kate Collins are you here, if not we'll have to draw another name,"
said Chris. (About three minutes later) "Ok folks, looks like Kate's not here so we're 
going to have to draw another name. Here goes, and the winner is…...
Senior Detective PJ Hasham. Congratulations PJ, there's no doubt who you'll be taking 
with you," Chris teased looking straight at Maggie. PJ and Maggie both
blushed, and couldn't help looking at each other. The other heelers saw this, and 
decided to push them closer together. So after everyone had gone except for PJ,
Maggie, Adam, Dash, Chris and Nick, they had succeeded in getting PJ and Maggie 
drunk, and then the fun began. 

 

They decided to get Maggie up on the karaoke, and they said to her that she had to 
sing whatever the next song was, to someone that was there, and that they'd pull
that person's name out of a hat. (Of course every piece of paper in the hat said 'PJ)'. 
So PJ went and stood next to Maggie, on the stage while Dash turned on the
microphone and TV to the song they had picked for them, it was Newton's 'Sometimes When 
We Touch.' Part of the deal was that when she was singing she had
to look at PJ, so she turned to him and started singing:

Romance and almost tragedy

As soon as she finished singing she just stood there looking straight into PJ's deep 
relaxed blue eyes, and threw herself into his arms. While they were hugging she
whispered in his ear "I love you more than anything in the world PJ Hasham." He looked 
into her eyes and said "I love you two Maggs." Then they kissed on the
stage for all their friends to see. After that Maggie and Dash went up to their room, 
and PJ, Adam, Chris and Nick all went to their separate rooms. About fifteen
minutes after Maggie went to bed she got up and went straight across to PJ's room. "PJ, 
you awake?" she said as she knocked on the door. "Yeah Maggs, come in,"
he replied. As she walked in she saw PJ siting on the bed in his boxers, so she went 
over and sat next to him. "I meant what I said before, that I love you. And I
know I'm not at my soberest now, but I do mean it, and I never want you to forget it. 
"Don't worry, I won't, bye the way, I love you too!" 

 

The next morning Dash got up to find that Maggie wasn't in their room, and she decided 
that there was only one place she could be, so she ran across the hall and
opened PJ's door to see Maggie lying asleep in PJ's arms. She decided to get dressed 
and go downstairs to meet Adam, Chris and Nick for some breakfast.
"Seems our little match making game paid off," she said with a smile. "What do you mean?" 
said Adam with a mouth full of cornflakes. "Maggie and PJ,….. last
night,….. you remember!" "Oh yeah, the song thing," he said. "That's the one," said Dash. 
"Anyway, as we speak, Maggs is asleep in his bed." "Oooh," added Nick. 

 

About ten minutes later Maggie and PJ came downstairs and went and sat down next to the 
others. "Sleep well," teased Dash. "Like a log," replied Maggie. "Do you
remember any off last night?" asked Chris as she walked over to where they were sitting.
 "Vaguely," answered PJ. "Could you fill us in on the gaps?" asked Maggie.
"What do you remember?" asked Nick. "Not much actually, we were celebrating something, 
the I remember a conversation between PJ and I then the next thing I
knew, I woke up in his bed!" she said pointing to PJ. "Well the celebrating was about 
the trip to Perth," said Dash laughing. "Trip?" said PJ. "Don't worry mate we've
got all the best bits on tape!" said Nick. "What best bits," chorused PJ and Maggie in 
a worried tone.
