Rings

*This Fanfic takes place after the episode "Possession"



It was Christmas Eve and everyone was at The Imperial for some Christmas drinks. Maggie wasn't feeling too good because of Robbie, but besides that everyone
was having a great time and they all knew that something was up between Maggie and PJ, as PJ wouldn't stop looking and smiling at Maggie. 

Towards the end of the night everyone was giving out some presents to everyone except for PJ who had spent all his spare cash on Maggie's ring, which no one had
noticed. Finally when Maggie went up to get an orange juice Chris noticed, "Where did you get that ring Maggie?" Maggie then replied "Oh, PJ gave it to me this
afternoon" as she blushed. 

Suddenly Dash came over and lifted up Maggie's hand "So PJ did give you this ring?" Obviously Maggie couldn't lie so she answered "Yes" and then looked
towards PJ giving him the 'Help Me' look. PJ got up and came over to the bar and said, "So you've noticed the ring?" as he draped his arms over Maggie's
shoulders. 

The next morning everyone was at the station besides Maggie who had a Rostered Day Off and PJ who was running late. When he finally strolled in he was
apologizing to everyone "Sorry, I had to stop by home and get changed." Knowing that he as caught out he went red and everything went silent until Nick laughed
out "So what did Margaret get you for Christmas?" 

Back at Maggie's house Maggie was cleaning up the mess which PJ and her self had made the night before. As she did this she found PJ's wallet so she decided to
ring the Station to tell him. 

Dash: Mt. Thomas Police Station, Constable McKinley speaking. 

Maggie: Hi Dash, is PJ there? 

Dash: Yeah, PJ! 

So did you have a good night last night? 

Maggie: What? 

PJ: Hi Maggs 

Maggie: Hi PJ. What have you told Dash? 

PJ: Nothing, it's just that I was late this morning so they jumped to some conclusions. 

Maggie: I guess the right conclusions 

PJ: Yeah, guess so 

Maggie: Well anyway, you've left your wallet here 

PJ: Oh yeah, I was wondering where that got to. 

I'll come around after work and get it. 

Maggie: Oh! 

PJ: What's the matter 

Maggie: Well I'm going to The Imperial for Lunch, can't you collect the lunches today? 

PJ: And what? Give Dash and Adam an extra 20 minutes spare time? 

Maggie: Is there a problem with that? 

PJ: No, if I get to see you. 

Maggie: Good then, see you there in about an hour then. 

PJ: Okay then Maggie 

Maggie: Love you! 

PJ: Me too!

An hour latter Dash and Adam got up and told every that they were going to get the lunches as usual, but PJ got up and said, "Oh, I'll get the lunches today!" Dash,
Adam and Nick found this very strange so as Dash and Adam had a spare 20 minutes they decided to tag along down to the pub. 

As this was going on Maggie was already down the pub talking to Chris and every minute or two, looking at her watch. Suddenly Chris changed the subject "Are
you meeting someone today?" and the person who walked though the door answered her question, especially when Maggie got up and walked towards him. 

Within about 5 minutes of PJ arriving Dash and Adam strolled in. PJ was a little annoyed, so left while saying, "Oh, well if you two are here I guess I can go." and as
he walked away Maggie quickly followed "PJ". They both reached the foyer before they shared a quick kiss, and this is where they were caught out and
embarrassed by Dash and Adam laughing. 

Later that evening everyone was at the pub besides Maggie and PJ. As they were not there Nick, Adam and Dash couldn't stop gossiping about Maggie and PJ.
Remembering that Dash still had a key to Maggie's house they decided to pay them both a visit but when they got to the house they found it deserted, so they went
to PJ's house but found it exactly the same. 

The next morning PJ and Maggie arrived at work earlier then normal with huge smiles on their faces. When the rest of the gang arrived they wanted to know why,
but couldn't get an answer out of them. As Adam and Nick were out on patrol when it was time to get the lunches, Maggie went with Dash. 

Dash: So what is up with you and PJ? 

Maggie: Nothing 

Dash: You have to be kidding, yesterday you rang PJ and all he could do as he was on the phone to you is smile 

Maggie: Really 

Dash: And then he wanted to collect the lunches yesterday, when he never does and then your there basically waiting for him. 

Maggie: And you knew that because you followed him down there 

Dash: Yes, and then all you and PJ have down today is smile 

Maggie: Ain't we allowed to be happy? 

Dash: And to top it all off, look at that ring he has given you! 

Maggie: It's nice isn't? 

Dash: Wait! The ring? Two? 

Maggie: You promise you won't tell anyone, because PJ and I decided that we we're going to tell everyone together, tonight. 

Dash: Tell what? 

When they both got back to the station Nick and Adam were already back and everyone couldn't stop looking at PJ and Maggie. Finally PJ asked Maggie for a
word. Within the C.I office they both admitted to telling their work mates about their engagement. 

That night at the pub everyone knew about Maggie and PJ, so that was all everyone was really talking about. Chris and Maggie wouldn't stop looking at Maggie's
rings and they were amazed that PJ could have such good taste. Meanwhile PJ, Adam, Nick and Tom were holding their own little gathering but Maggie and PJ
couldn't looking and smiling at each other so most of what was being said went in one ear, and out the other. 

The next night PJ arrived at Maggie's place as they had planned, only to find Dash there, moving back in. He went straight to Maggie and soon found out that
somehow she had given her permission to move back in the night before at the pub. 

The next day Monica Draper arrived at the station. Maggie became very worried about this, but her worries came to a stand still as Monica congratulated them
both. She the told them both "You relationship is allowed, but you have to keep you relationship at work strictly professional" but Tom soon told Monica that "Um,
I've already told them both that, so I think it is safe to leave it at that". 

The next day reports came to the station of a planed robbery. PJ and Maggie informed the bank, where this robbery was supposed to happen before they got the
surveillance equipment from St. David's. 

That night Adam and Nick surveyed the bank from an unmarked car, while Tom stayed at the Station and Dash, Maggie and PJ sat, hiding within the bank. By the
time 8pm came nothing had happened, but by 8:15 PJ was being taken to hospital with Maggie by his side as he was shot in three places, the left and right leg and
directly below the heart. 

As soon as they reached the hospital PJ was rushed into theatre where they managed to extract all the bullets. Maggie was very worried but everyone comforted her
and when PJ came out of theatre he was put a room, coincidentally the same room Maggie was in when she had the tick poisoning. 

He was touch and go for about 3 days and Maggie refused to leave his side. Everyone else took it turns to keep her company and bring her in food and drink. On
the 4th day of him being in a coma he finally woke up at 2:34am. At this time Maggie was asleep resting her head beside PJ, but she woke to PJ calling her name out
"Maggs!" 

Maggie was overjoyed about this and tears be cane to roll down her face. She went to give PJ a kiss but before she could the machines around him be cane to make
worrying noises "Beep, Beep Beep, Beeeeepppppppp" so Maggie ran and got a doctor straight away. 

As soon as Zoe and Maggie rushed back into the room, Zoe ordered Maggie out of the room. Maggie ran off and cried but within a few minutes Maggie came back
to PJ's room where she found Zoe telling him "You gave Maggie a fright you know!" and PJ lying there, with his eyes open. She was overwhelmed by this and
quickly went to give him a kiss, and this time nothing happened. She then sat by his side and did nothing, and said nothing, all she did was hold his hand. 

The next day, PJ was walking around the hospital. He wanted to go home, but Zoe wouldn't allow it for at least another 24 hours, so 24 hours later Maggie arrived
and took PJ home where she made sure that he was comfortable. PJ soon stopped this fiasco as he was getting a little annoyed. They then sat on the couch together
and discussed their wedding plans. 

Hours later they reached the decision that would have their wedding on the 1st of March, 1998 by the lake. They also decided that they had to go on a cruise for
their honeymoon around the pacific islands and that obviously, they would have their reception at The Imperial. The only other decisions they had to make were what
they were going to wear, who to invite and whose house they were going to live in. 

Exactly 6 days after PJ arriving home he returned to work and exactly 4 days after this event Maggie moved in with PJ letting Adam move in with Dash. By this time
they had worked out who they were going to invite to their big day, and they had even sent out the invitations.
