Hello! This fanfic isn't related to my family life series, but I am in a very bored state and felt like writing. This fanfic takes place when Maggie and PJ are not together but after Gold. I've
also included 2 characters from another TV show - ER as I said, I'm in a very bored state so really, this is just to fill in my time. As you read you will notice I have left out a lot about the
Doug and Carol relationship, as with Maggie and PJ's.

*** 

 "Hello" the man said, "We rang from Melbourne to reserve a room"

"Yeah" Chris replied, "You�re the American couple right?"

"Yes, ma'am"

"Chris will do just fine - just up here"

 Chris showed the couple up the stairs into one of her rooms. She opened the blinds and turned on the heater before checking the TV was working.

 "It shouldn't be all that noisy up here" Chris said, "Breakfast is 6 to 8, dinner is the same. Just call if you need anything, Bathroom is just down the hall"

"Thanks" the woman, said sitting back down on the bed before Chris left the room.

 

*** 

 

"Who's coming down to the Imperial for drink tonight?" Maggie asked.

"You shouting?" PJ asked,

"I might me, who's coming?"

"Count me in" Dash said.

"Well I live there" Adam replied.

"Zoe and I might come" Nick said.

"So how are you and Zoe going?" PJ asked, leaning on Nick's desk.

"You know" Nick replied, "None of your business".

The couple, who had arrived from America, were sitting in the dinning room of the Imperial when all the Mt. Thomas Police, including Nick with Zoe came in.

"You know Doug" the women said, "This isn't quite the place I intended on spending my honeymoon".

"You�re the one who wanted to experience something different".

"Game of darts?" Carol wondered.

"Sure".

 Doug took Carol's hand and walker over to the dart bored but arrived as Maggie and PJ did.

 "Sorry" Maggie said, "Did you want to use it?"

"That's okay, you go a head" Carol replied in her American accent.

"No, no, you go" Maggie said, "Where are you from?"

"My husband and I are from Chicago".

"What are you doing in Mt. Thomas then?"

"My wife wanted to experience something different on out honeymoon," Doug said.

"But in Mt. Thomas?" PJ asked.

 

The four people stood there talking for a while and didn't notice Dash and Adam playing darts themselves. Carol and Maggie moved off to a table by the window while Doug was
introduced to everyone else by "P.J"

 "So what do you do Carol?" Maggie asked.

"I'm a nurse at County Cook General back home, "What about you?"

"A police officer here" Maggie replied, "My whole family, but my mum is so I followed the tradition".

"How long have you and, P.J been together?"

"What?" Maggie said, basically joking on her drink, "We're not together".

"God, I'm sorry" Carol said, "Just the way you two act together lead me to believe..."

"I'll have to watch how I act around him now".

"What's he do?"

"P.J is a cop too. A detective" Maggie said, "Now tell me about you and Doug".

"Doug and I - there's a while story to that" Carol laughed, "Tell me more about PJ and you first".

"There's nothing too it" Maggie blushed, "He's really not my type". 

"It doesn't look like" Carol replied, "If her came over right now and asked you out on a date, would you go?"

"No" Maggie replied, "I value he's friendship too much, and our Boss would spilt us up if we were involved".

"Hospital's don't tend to like Doctor's and nurses together?"

"Doug's a doctor?" Maggie asked.

"Yeah, we work in the same hospital, "So has anything EVER happened between you and PJ?"

"Sure" Maggie replied, "A hell of a lot, but why should I tell you if you won't tell me anything about your doctor and you?"

"I'll make you a deal, you share something, and then I'll share something".

"We'll be here all night!"

"So there is many things to tell between you and your Detective?"

"Maybe".

"So what do you do Doug?" Nick asked.

"I'm a doctor in Chicago, County Cook General".

"Really" Zoe said, "I'm a doctor in the local hospital here."

"Yeah" Doug said, "I'm a paediatrician, ER Doc, you?"

"Well there really isn't much need for speciality's here in Mt. Thomas. I cover most of the cases here".

"Doug was a drunk when we first starting dating. He'd turn up to half of our dates drunk, or he wouldn't turn up to them at all".

"I wouldn't put up with it".

"I didn't - I broke up with him when I court him with another women".

"Another women?"

"My friends had been telling me for ages that he was cheating on me, but I didn't want to believe them".

"But then you court him".

"Yep" she said sadly, "But he's change a lot".

"Looks like it, but before I say anymore, you and PJ".

"Well nothing would stand up against that - trust me but I first met PJ on the highway coming to Mt. Thomas for the first time. He and Nick" Maggie said pointing out Nick, " I was pulled
over by PJ - He hit on me and then I showed him my badge".

"And?"

"As I said nothing will stand up to your stories, but that night we went to the pub, here and her and Nick tried to get me drunk, as it was my first night. I made a deal when Chris to serve
me water but then PJ found out when I went to the bathroom" Maggie said, "I came back, and without me knowing Chris had given me the REAL thing, I spat it all over PJ" - Carol laughs

"Doug really started to change after a women he slept with came into the ER. He didn't even know her name but she died".

"PJ has helped finish all my relationships. The first was Sean - he was a detective from St. David's. Anyway PJ found out that he involved in some illegal gambling ring." 

"And the others?"

"There was only one other relationship. He's name was Roman. A while back I was studying law as I worked but I wasn't go so well so PJ suggested I get a tutor."

"What happened?"

"I got involved with him. PJ was jealous, found out he was married, then I broke it off with him, the next day I charge him with the murder of a local teenager."

"Did he do it?"

"Not exactly, but I still charged him" She laughed, "Then that night of the day I charge the guy PJ and I kinda fought � "

"Kinda?"

"Well we got into a fight and I punched him. The next day when I came into work he was gone."

"Gone, but he's here now?"

"He left on he's long service leave a week early."

"What happened when he came back?"

"We acted like nothing happened but I left a card saying that I was sorry in he's office which I completely forgot about. You see there was this case when a kid rang the station and he's
mother wouldn't wake up and he's little sister was also there. At the end of the day after the case was solved PJ found the card and we talked, and we were just about to kiss, when the
Boss walked in" Maggie laughed.

"Sounds like you really DO like him."

"I do" Maggie said, "Now you and Doug."

"First, what happened to you and Law?"

"I dropped out, decided it wasn't for me."

"I was going to study to be a doctor. I dropped out too" Carol said, "There's always been little moments between me and Doug, but one of the major ones was when I went on this date
with a guy call Toby. My 3rd I think. Anyway when he dropped me off, I didn't let him come in and Doug was hiding under the El track and he came up to my door after Toby left and
said, "So Toby doesn't get to come inside?" and I went, "No, Toby doesn't get to come in side". We kissed."

"The major thing between PJ and I was when we got court down a mine shaft together."

"For how long?"

"About 24 hours" Maggie said, "We talked for a while about stuff. I told him about my family. He told me about he's mum. In a rating she rated 20 out of 10 and I come pretty close. God,
we spoke about how many kids we want. Things got carried away and well " Maggie blushed.

"I get the picture, so how did you get out?"

"Rescue team." 

"So how come it didn't lead into anything?"

"He let a suspect get away - to help me - I broke it off."

"Now that's devoted to the job" Carol said, "After Doug and I got back together I made him keep it a secret from the others - just to make sure he change after last time. 

I finally told everyone in the ER about it Christmas Eve - they all say the knew - they were placing bets on it!"

"Then what happened?"

"Oh, Doug just proposed."

"And you said yes?"

"Yes, but then I got scared - I kissed this paramedic, Greg Powell."

"What did Doug say?"

"I told him the night it happened. He walked out. I didn't know at the time but he was planning a secret wedding. We were going to marry at one minutes pass twelve that night."

"So how did you get back together?"

"At the hospital Greg Powell came back in and I was chatting to him Doug saw me and got annoyed. I can see why though. Anyway he told me not to embarrass him in front of he's
friends. I bought up the past about all the women he slept with while I was with him. That night I was helping this couple that just had a baby and he came into the room and said he'd
wait for as long as I needed."

"And?"

"I guess the next thing is that we were trapped in the elevator with a patient who we were taking up to the PEDS ICU and Doug was trying to open it. I was so worried, and scared. I asked
him, "What if it moves?" and he went "Well you won't have to worry about commitment."

"So when did you get married?"

"We got married about 8 months after that with all our friends and family in the traditional way" Carol said, "So what are you going to do about PJ and you?"
