SUSPICION

Maggie: Mt. Thomas 608

VKC: A report of a disturbance at the Pervis property. Could you please attend?

Maggie: Received that VKC, we will attend.

 

Maggie and PJ turned on the sirens and speed up heading towards Pervis� property. When they arrived they found Keith and a man there had never seen repeating
the same question "Give me my Money" getting louder every time but Keith kept on replying, "NO!". Maggie and PJ couldn�t see any way to resolve the argument
so Maggie directed both the men into the C.I car, and told PJ to sit in the middle of the both of them, "Why can't I drive?" he complained. 

 

When they got back to the station Nick, "What has he been up to" and Tom who came out of his office. PJ then directed Keith into Tom�s Office and the man into
the interview room and Maggie collected her lunch and went to eat it in the C.I offie. When PJ got into the interview room the man formally introduced himself as
George Previce. He then went on to tell his side of the story. He said that Keith, his brother robbed him 8 years ago of a large sum of money back hoe but he was
able to forgive and forget until a month and a half ago when his business went bankrupt and his wife divorced him. PJ wanted to be sure that this crime didn't happen
in Australia, "So he didn't take the money within Australia?" and the man confirmed, "No"

 

Then PJ let him go, as long as he stayed at the Imperial so he showed George out of the station. After he left PJ went into his office where he found Maggie, "So, are
you coming in to interview Pervis?" She then got up as she said, "Yep, finished my lunch, except for this bit, do you want it?" PJ then put out his hand towards
Maggie but he triped and fell right into Maggie arms as he steeped forward to reach the leftover sandwich, "You know Maggie, we really do have to do something
about this" he said as their eyes met. 

 

That night the previs matter was forgotten, as the crime happened overseas but it was the topic of conversation at The Imperial. After about a half an hour Maggie
left after handing PJ a piece of paper under the table, �PJ, come to my place when you finish up here. Love Maggie�. PJ couldn�t help but smile as he put the note
into his pocket but he was disrupted by Nick, �What�s the matter with you?"

 

Forty minutes later PJ pulled up in his car at Maggie finding Maggie on the front porch, waiting. As soon as he got out of his car Maggie yelled, "God! You took
your time!" PJ didn�t reply he just followed Maggie into her house where they both sat down on the couch. Both of them didn�t know what to say, but they both
wanted the same thing to happen. After a while Maggie asked "Do you want some coffee" as she got up but she was soon pulled down and shared a passionate kiss
with PJ.

 

The next morning she woke up to find a note next to her on her bed where PJ was earlier that morning. When she read it remembered that PJ was on early shift. As
she had a RDO she decided to go down to the pub. When she got there Chris could see the glow in her face, "Why are you so happy?" Maggie couldn�t help but try
to hide her face, "Let me guess, is it PJ?" "No�Never" she lied.

 

That night Maggie stayed at home but PJ went to the Imperial where Chris saw that he seemed very happy and she was determined that that there was something
going on between Maggie and him. She couldn't help but smile at how happy he looked. After he left to the Imperial he went and saw Maggie. "I didn�t think you
were going to come and see me" Maggie greeted PJ. "Well if you didn�t want to see me I could leave" PJ joked before he gave Maggie a kiss on the cheek. "So
what happened at work today?" 

 

Maggie and PJ continued to speak to each other enjoying each other's company but there were interrupted by a phone call. "Hello" Maggie answered. Maggie soon
found out that it was Nick. He has been looking after phones and Keith had rang in told him that two off his bulls had been shot. "Ah, Margaret, I rang Partick but he
wasn't home. But you see Keith wants him and his little girlie down to his place, 2 of his bulls have been killed" he said trying to stir Maggie. "Okay then, I'll pick PJ
up on my way" she lied. "Ah, I would of thought he and was at his girlie house" he quickly said before hanging up. Maggie got a little annoyed but put it at the back
of her head and told PJ what was going on. As the two of them left the house as PJ said, "Oh, Nick already suspects something then" and Maggie added "And Chris
does to!" 

 

When they got to the station Nick told them all the information he had and then told them he was going back to bed but as she was heading back to the watch house
the phone rang again, "Nick!" PJ yelled, "That will probably be Keith again for you" PJ was right and Nick wasn't very please. When Maggie and PJ got to previs'
farm he was waiting. They two of them got their torches and had a look at the two bulls. They confirmed that they were shot but that was all they could do. They
went back to Keith and said, "Look we'll have to wait till tomorrow morning when it is light". Keith wasn't very please by this, "You don't need the light to know who
did this! It's my brother, you go speak to him" Maggie and PJ looked at each other and Maggie finally turned back to Keith and said, "Look, we will do that later
this morning" and left.

 

The two of them went back to the station and by this time it was 3am in the morning. They had 2 or 3 hours before the sun came out. Maggie made two cups of
coffee for herself and PJ but when they finished them the went back to Maggie place as they really needed some rest. At soon as it was light they organises a vet to
go and see the bulls and then they went to see George at the Imperial. When they got their Chris was ordering some things on the phone so they waited. When Chris
finished she came out, "You two look so tried!" Maggie replied, " We haven't had much sleep" and when Chris heard this grinned. "Is George Pervis in? PJ asked.
Chris pointed to the dinning room, he was eating his breakfast, "Why do you want to see him? Chris asked. "Two of Keith's pulls have been shot" Maggie told her.
"What it wouldn't of been him" Chris said, "He was here all night". "Are you sure about that?" PJ asked. "Positive!" "Well we'll still have a talk to him!"

 

Later that afternoon they were no closer to finding out who shot Keith's Bulls. They had taken off George, his brother off the suspect list as Chris had told them he
was at the Imperial all night. At 4pm they found out that the bullets used were from Keith's gun which lead them to believe that he did it himself so they bought him in
for questioning. Keith wasn't very pleased by this, "Why would I want to shot my own bulls?" he asked. "That's what were trying to find out" PJ replied and the
interview went on. "I put it to you that you shot your bulls hoping that we would think your brother did it" Keith couldn't say that he didn't do that, "Yeah, but there's
no law against shooting my own cattle, is there?" he asked. "No there isn't, but there is own against making a false report!" PJ said, pleased that he and Maggie and
solved another case together. They charged him with making a false report. 

 

That night Maggie and PJ didn't go to the Imperial. Everyone thought it was because they didn't get much sleep the night before because of Keith's report but to
Maggie and PJ it wasn't. Maggie had cooked herself and PJ dinner and PJ had bought a video and a bottle of wine over. When they had had tea, drank the bottle of
wine and watched the Movie Maggie saw PJ out the door and went to bed.

 

The following day Maggie and PJ came to work and no calls came in that need their attention. Maggie came into the C.I office and told PJ that she was going to start
on the brief about yesterday case but PJ said, "No, I'll do it". Maggie was surprised by this and said, "Okay then" and started to go back out, "But I could always
have some help?" PJ said. Maggie went to get her clipboard and went back into the C.I office and closed the door. On her way back in Dash asked her what she
was doing, Maggie answered, "PJ and I are going to work on a brief together". This surprised Nick, Dash and Adam. "Since when does PJ do any briefs? He
normally makes us write them" Adam asked Dash and Nick.

 

Within the C.I office Maggie and PJ were sitting by each others side. Maggie went to write one sentence but PJ stoped her and gave her a kiss. Maggie returned it
but soon pulled back and said, "Not at work PJ". PJ accepted this quickly gave her one more quick kiss before saying, "So how do we start this thing?" Maggie
didn't answer and just looked into his eyes and PJ looked back into hers. Finally Maggie said, "Look, I'll just do it out on my desk" and got up to leave but PJ got
hold of her clip bored before her, "No, you go. I'll do it" PJ said so Maggie got up and left his office. When she returned to her desk Dash asked, "I though you were
working on a brief with PJ?" "His going to do it by himself" Maggie replied, "Oh, you can't get any work done if your alone in the one room?" Dash giggled. Maggie
thought, 'Now she suspects it, Adam and the Boss to go'. The problem was that she didn't know she was thinking aloud, "What?" Dash asked.

 

That night everyone went to the pub but it was very quite. "So where is everyone tonight?" Nick asked. "There at St. David�s" Chris replied. "That�s right, the new
Poker Machines which are giving St. David�s hell!" PJ followed "And they have been only there for a few days!" he added as Maggie interrupted "There not that
bad, there actually very fun!" "Before people get addicted" Dash finished as the conversation went on. "I�m thinking of getting some machines, just a few to fit in the
back room" Chris Stated, "But Chris, they make our lives hell if it will be like St. David�s". "PJ, look, I need to attract more customers, most of my customers have
gone over there as you can see, I have time to sit and speak to you". PJ tried to argue but Maggie quickly gave him a little kick in the knee. "What was that for?" he
asked, "What was what for?" Adam butted in. The night went on and like most night Maggie and PJ left the Imperial with everyone else and went back to Maggie's
place.

 

The next week was pretty quite and they all couldn�t help but laugh at the articles written about the St. David's pub in the Gazette. Maggie and PJ were still trying to
keep their relationship a secret even though they knew everyone but Tom and Adam suspected it, little did they know that Tom and Adam did. Chris had decided
against her idea oh have a few poker machines even though some of the usual customers had stop coming. 

 

There was also a raffle being held as a fundraiser for the hospital. There were a number of prizes but the main one was a trip for two to Tasmania. Zoe came into the
Imperial one night to sell some and everyone was surprised to see her - Nick was very annoyed. Zoe sold some of the tickets to everyone and then had a few
drinks. This was one of the few nights PJ didn't go on to Maggie's.

 

The following day Maggie and PJ had nohing to do. Mt Thomas was surprisingly very quite. The two people talked in the C.I office and listened to everyone
complaining about the hot summer weather. "Wouldn't it be great if one of us won that raffle?" PJ said, "Yeah, but we couldn't go together. Imagine what everyone
would think" Maggie replied, "It wouldn�t be any different to Nick and Zoe going to the snow last year" he debated. "Yes it would" she reminded him, "I don't see
how!" "Okay then PJ, I'll make you a deal! If you win you can take me but if I win.." Maggie said, "You have to take me!" PJ finished. "Well I was going to say that
PJ if you just let me finished"

 

Yet another week past and Maggie and PJ were finding it very hard to keep their relationship a secret. Dash kept on bugging Maggie about it while Nick did the
same to PJ, Chris kept smiling at the two of them when they were together, Adam kept on trying to set PJ up on a date with someone but PJ never went and Tom
wasn't acting normal. On February 12th he hospital raffle was drawn at the Imperial and it was just PJ luck that he won. Maggie tired not to be happy or excited but
everyone could see that she knew that she was going to be the lucky person to go with PJ. "So who are you going to take PJ?" everyone continued to ask, "Ah, I
don't know my mother?" he replied. "Really?" Adam asked a little confused. 

 

Towards the end of the night Maggie went up to get another drink and PJ followed her. When Chris went to pour Maggie's drink PJ asked, "So are you coming with
me?" "What do you think" she asked, "You'll be packing your bags when I do and catching that boat down there with me?" PJ stated. "Well I guessed you guess is
right. We did have a deal" The two of them returned to their table where Nick asked again, "So Patrick we do want to know who your going to take!" PJ looked at
Maggie and Maggie smiled back, "Maggie Schultz, Maggie" Everyone looked at each other and gave each other their own looks. Tom smiled and thought, 'Good,
there getting somewhere!' but he was interrupted by Maggie, "If it's okay with the Boss"

 

Two weeks after the raffle was drawn Dash and Adam drove PJ and Maggie down to Melbourne. The night before Dash had come to see Maggie. Dash had come
to ask Maggie about moving back in. Dash liked the idea of having a house to her self for a week. Maggie agreed as long as Dash didn't throw any wild parties.
Dash said, "Okay, but would you just tell me what's going on between you and PJ?" Maggie couldn't hold it in, she really wanted to tell someone and besides Chris
Dash was the only person, "Okay, but you can't tell anyone!" she told her and began her story. As Maggie and PJ boarded the Spirit of Tasmania Dash gave Maggie
one of her grins. She wanted to tell out and tease her but Adam was next to her, when Maggie and PJ were out of sight Adam joked, "So what do you think they'll
get up to?" Dash just rolled her eyes and gave him a little push, "Adam�"

 

When the boat started to move Maggie and PJ had found their cabin. After they had put their bags in their Maggie took PJ to look around the boat and decided
what they were going to do for the next day and a half. After about an hour Maggie decided that they were going to see the movie that was showing and then go to
the one of the boat's many restaurants for tea. PJ didn't exactly like the Movie but he liked seeing Maggie so happy. He also liked the time alone that wasn't in the
C.I office or Maggie house. When they finished their tea it was already 10:30pm. They went on a walk on the deck together and enjoyed the sea air but the night
soon came to an end when they went back to their cabbin.

 

When they awoke the next morning they went to have breakfast but then they arrived so they couldn't do anything else. When they got off the boat they hired a car
and drove to Hobart. PJ drove much to his disapproval, "Can't you drive? He complained, "I'm the person who won this holiday�" But Maggie wouldn't budge and
he was the won who had to drive the car. After the long drive that arrived at a hotel which was located in the middle of the city. This was to be their home for the
next week and it was fitted with a small bathroom, kitchen, lounge room and bedroom. After the man who showed them their room left Maggie told PJ that she was
going to have a quick shower. When she finished she came out and found PJ watching TV, "Hey, we're not here to watch TV" she told him as she took the remote
off him, "Yes Mother! So what are we going to do?" He asked. 

 

The two of them went to the usual decided that they would have a look around the city. They looked around a department store where Maggie stopped at the
Jewellery department. The Lady at the counter game up and asked, "Are you looking for an engagement ring?" Maggie and PJ looked at each other and Maggie let
our a little giggle as PJ replied, "Ah, no", "I'm sorry, I'll let you look then." Maggie continued to look along with PJ. After a while the two of them headed out of the
store and took the walked back to their hotel. 

 

That night the two of them joked around discussing laughed over the mistaken comment the woman said as they windows shopped. They went out on a late night
walk where they decided that they would drive to Port Arthur. They two of them went to bed and when the woke up they headed down to a breakfast before
leaving for Port Arthur. This time Maggie drove as she thought it was only fair. 

 

When they got to Port Arthur Maggie collected some historical information which was shown in a brochure, "Okay then we'll follow this tour" she told PJ. "And that
mean's I have to walk!" he complaned. Maggie started to walk, "Okay then Maggie, you got your way again!" PJ said as she ran to catch up to her. When he did he
took her hand, "I always do PJ, so get use to it"

 

Maggie and PJ stayed there until about 4pm when PJ drove back. PJ actually ended up enjoying the day waking around even though he and Maggie got very tied.
The day also gave some time for PJ to think. When the two of them got back to the hotel PJ said he was going on a walk. "You've been walking all day, your not
that fit" she said, 

"Well I'll prove you wrong. I'll be back in about an hour." He told her as he gave her another kiss on check, "Okay"

 

Maggie sat back on turned on the TV while PJ walked around the city stores. PJ finally entered a big department store where he went to the Jewellery counter and
saw the same woman who had been mistaken the day before. He went up to her and said, "Um, I'd like to by a ring" The woman remembered him from yesterday,
"Sorry about yesterday." "That's okay, as I said I want to buy a ring." PJ said. "Okay, for what occasion?" "Engagement" PJ revelled. The woman showed PJ many
rings that she thought Maggie would like. Finally PJ decided on a silver ring with 3 diamonds in it. He paid for it and it was given to him in a small blue box.

 

PJ put the box in his pocket and walked back to his hotel. When he entered his and Maggie room he found Maggie asleep on the couch by the TV. He hid the ring
her had bought in his bag before turning the TV off. As he had the time to think he tried to think on how he propose to Maggie. After a while Maggie woke up, "Did
you have a nice walk?" "Yeah, I did Maggs" PJ told her. PJ went to sit by Maggie and the wo of them soon began chatting about the day. PJ thought that this was
the time to pop the question so he excuse him self for a moment and went to get the ring from the bedroom. When he came back Maggie could sense he was
nervous, "What's the matter?" PJ didn't answer but he got down on one knee, "PJ, what are you doing?" she asked, "Just let me say this" he mumbled. "Maggie
Doyle, I've loved you ever since we met��." PJ continued, "Just say it PJ" Maggie said smiling, "Will you marry me?" he finally asked, "Yes, I will" Maggie replied
almost straight away. PJ put the ring on her finger as he lent up and gave Maggie a long kiss. Soon Maggie and PJ found them selves moving into the bedroom.

 

When Maggie woke up the next morning she was lying in PJ arms but he was still asleep. She lifted up her hand and admired the ring PJ had bought her. She thought
about her father and how he had finally got him way. She also thought about what everyone in Mt. Thomas will think, after all Dash was the onlt on who really knew.
Everyone else only suspected it. Then she thought about Tom, "Will he spilt us up?" she said to her self aloud. PJ woke up as she said this and sat up, "Who will spilt
us up?" he asked as he turned her face towards his, " The Boss" she answered. A few tears began to fall down Maggie face bit PJ removed them with his finger as
he said, "No he won't". Maggie didn't look very sure. PJ pulled Maggie closer to her and they laid there for a while. 

 

The rest of their holiday was full of 33-degree days. It wasn't that hot but they two of them spent most of those days by the pool. PJ convinced Maggie not to worry
about the thought of their Boss splitting them up, at least till they got back to Mt. Thomas. Maggie and PJ were felt a little sad when they had to bored the plan to
take them back to Melbourne. When they arrived at Melbourne Dash was waiting for them and PJ didn't know that Maggie had told Dash about their relationship.

 

When PJ went to collect their bags Dash took Maggie aside and asked her for details about their holiday. PJ didn't take long to get the bags but when he looked
back he saw Maggie gossiping with Dash so he turned back around. Meanwhile Maggie was just about to show Dash her new ring, "He gave me this" she said,
"Maggie, it's gorgeous!" she said, "He proposed?" "Well it wouldn't be on this finger if he didn't?" she told her. Dash gave Maggie a hug and congratulated her right
as PJ came back, "So you've told her?" PJ asked happily, "Yes, she has told me PJ" Dash said as she moved on ahead with Maggie and PJ's bags. "Oh, PJ" Maggie
said, "Yeah?" "Ah, Dash knew about us before we left" she admitted. "I thought that" PJ told her as he put his arm about her shoulder. Dash looked back and
smiled. 

 

When they got to Mt. Thomas Dash and Maggie dropped PJ from at his place, Maggie went in with him and asked him to met her at the Imperial that night. PJ said
he would and from a distance Dash could see the two sharing a kiss from the car. When Maggie returned to the car Dash looked at her, "What?" "Nothing" Dash
said as the car moved off. 

 

That night Maggie and PJ told everyone about their engagement. "Maggie and PJ have some good gossip to tell" Dash said. "Their engaged Dash!" Nick joked.
Maggie and PJ looked at each other and then they both said, "Yes!" Everyone was shocked besides Dash and Chris, who Dash had told. They were all very happy
for them even though it was a shock.

 

They two returned to work the day after and their wedding followed about 8 months after. PJ's mother was very pleased about PJ asking Maggie to marry him as
was Pat Doyle, Maggie's father.
