She heard the soft murmur of voices as she pushed the swinging doors open, and looked up to find Buffy and Xander already there and sitting at the table. Giles was nowhere in sight. "Is he in his office?" she said after the preliminary greetings had been done.
Xander shook his head. "We haven't seen him yet," he said with a slight frown. Buffy was bouncing her knee nervously.
"Isn't he usually here early?" Willow asked, her concern growing as Buffy nodded. Excusing herself for a minute, she hurried back to the office, taking the key out and returning the diaries to their drawer, and then returned to the main room. It wasn't like Giles not to be there.
"The last time I saw him, he was going to talk to Ms. Calendar," she announced, sitting down beside Xander. "Maybe she knows where he is. Or maybe they realized their mutual attraction and spent the night…" she stopped, unable to continue, her face flushed bright red. She was amazed that she'd been able to say as much as she had. Giles and Ms. Calendar? Really, it was sweet, but they were…old.
She supposed it was better than the alternative, however. That Giles was missing, in a town full of vampires, monsters, and other nasty beasties. And they all knew what happened to the "missing persons" in Sunnydale. They ended up as somethings dinner.
