Fire & Ice
Part Three

"This can't be happening." Cordy said, standing and looking at the wall ahead of her. "No. NO! This is my apartment. Get out."

Xander stood, gathering his oranges and putting them back in the back. "YOUR apartment? I'm sorry Core but I seem to have lived here first.. and when did you get back in town?"

"I am not 'back' in town. This is temporary until I get my job back."

"But I thought you were working with Angel."

"I am."

"And he FIRED you? I mean... JEEZ! What would you have to do to get fired by a 250 year old dead guy?"

Cordy looked over at a now standing Xander and put a hand on her hip. "I wouldn't talk!"

"Ok.. you know what? You've been here a whole 5 seconds and already you've seemed to insult my whole life. Good to have you back. Now I'm sure you were running to do something important so get on with it." He said, walking past her.

She gasped and her hand flew to her head. *Dammit!* She turned and looked at Xander. "WAIT! XANDER! I need help! Someone's in trouble."

"Who?" Xander said, turning around.

"Just get me to Buffy... as much as I hate to say it... fast!"

*********

Xander and Cordy ran into the magic shop huffing and puffing. Cordy looked over at Xander and then down at her shoe. "You didn't have to try and lose me." She said, pulling off her shoe and making sure nothing was broke.

Xander grinned, "Sorry." He walked farther into the shop. "GILES! ANYA! BUFFY! ANYONE!?!?!"

Giles came walking in from the back of the shop, sweating. He looked at Xander and then past him, to Cordy. "Cordelia! What are you doing here?"

"What a nice greating. Why is everyone asking me that I've lived here since I was young. Longer than any of you anyways."

Xander looked up and raised his hand. "Uh.. Cordy.... me and Willow have lived here just as long as you."

"You guys don't count."

Xander was about to say something when Giles cut him off. "As much as I would love to sit here and watch you guys bicker back and forth, there is the matter of the reason why you're here."

"Oh yeah. Well... a girl is in trouble. She's young.. maybe 14. She has brown hair and some vampires were dragging her out of her house."

"You saw this?" Giles asked, taking off his glasses and beginning to polish them with his shirt.

"Ugh. No. I have visions.. I'm a seer. I can tell the future.. damn powers that be.. and anyways... we have to help her."

Giles was about to turn around when Buffy walked out of the back of the store, dabbing her head with a towel. "Today was tougher than usual Giles... you been taking your vitamins?" Buffy waited for his answer and looked up. She saw Cordy in the doorway and ran over. "Are you alright? Is Angel alright? Did anything bad happened? What's wrong?"

"Whoa... ease up there trigger. We're fine. Just relocated. At least this part of the team is. He's acting really wierd. And he fired me and now I have to live here.. in *HIS* building no less." She said, pointing to Xander. "Plus now I have to find a new job."

Buffy relaxed visibly, and leaned against a table full of potions and little bags with powders in them. "OH. Then who's in trouble?"

"A girl named Dawn.. maybe 14.. brown hair-"

"A girl named Dawn?!?!" Buffy said, grabbing Cordelia's arm.

"Yeah. And ow.. can you back off a little? God!"

Buffy looked back to Giles and then to Xander. "We have to get home. Now."

Cordy looked and her and a look of realization came over her face. "Oh gosh. YOU had a sister named Dawn didn't you? I mean.. it's been so long and I really don't remember faces that well or anything..."

Buffy walked past Cordy and out the door, followed in suit by Giles and Xander. Cordy stood in the quaint little shop for a second before looking around. "Ok..." She walked further into the store and sat at the large wooden table. "I could get used to this."

"But I wouldn't." Anya said, walking in the front door.
