Happier Days

"I feel better. Honest!" Melissa Rae protested, trying to stand up from the attention being showered on her.

"Oh, no you don't. Sit." Wesley said as he picked up her other foot and began massaging it once again.

"I thought you were supposed to be telling me to feel better." The list mom said as she raised her eyebrow at him.

The Englishman stopped and looked up. "Oh. Quite right." He started massaging again. The door opened, Willow walked in with her arms full of brown paper bags. "Willow?" He asked. "Is that you behind all of that?"

Willow gently put her bags down on the coffee table and plopped down beside Missa. "Yeah. It's me. Where's Spike?"

"Went out for something." Replied Melissa. "Said he wasn't done spoiling me yet." She added with a smile.

"Well, hey, knowing Spike he'll be gone until dawn looking for it. Wanna go catch a movie? They're re-doing all of last year's and the year before's teen movies. Dead Man On Campus is on."

"Oh, you remind me of that Lucy girl." Melissa mused, looking over Willow. "Sure. When do we go."

Wesley promptly stood, looking helpless. "Ah, ah, ah, no! No, er, no you cannot go out tonight! I-I... I'm sick! Yes, terribly sick." He sank down onto the couch, a hand over his eyes. "Please help me." He muttered in a pathetic voice.

"Wes, I know Cordy *tried* giving you acting lessons but, no offense, they didn't pay off."

The Brit looked at her with a pout then stood. "Alright then. I'm not sick but... but... I-I forbid it!" He announced, looking down at them with his resolve face on.

The two girls on the couch looked up at him with their mouths hanging open. "Hey! I'm supposed to be being spoiled here! What happened to me doing whatever I wanted?!" Melissa paused and pouted. "I miss that."

The ex-watcher sat down beside her, putting an arm around her shoulders. "There there. It's just that Spike has planned something and I'm sure he'll be back as soon as he can."

***Meanwhile in one of the cemeteries of Sunnydale***

"What the hell d'you want now?" The horned demon asked as he was slammed back against a mausoleum.

"Where's the locket, mate?"

"I don't have it."

Spike pulled him back again, slamming him against the concrete another time. "I'll ask again. Where. Is. The locket? Don't you start with me, mate. I need that little nick-nack and I'm not afraid of shedding blood for it. Who bloody cares if I bump off the slayer's favorite snitch."

"I-I-I'm not her favorite! I just give her a few hints here and there." The demon rambled on for a few minutes until Spike got tired of his chattering.

"Just tell me where I can find it!"

"The slayer has it!" The demon confessed, panting after speaking for so long and so fast.

Spike's eyes narrowed. "What?" He gritted out.

***At Giles' apartment***

"Hey, Buff. Nice necklace. Where'd you get it?" Xander asked his slayer-friend.

"Oh, this? Riley got it. Found it in this old mausoleum. I liked it so he gave it to me."

"Yes, but, isn't that consider, er... grave-robbing?" Giles asked from the kitchen.

The blond looked around innocently. "Who said grave-robbing? I never said grave-robbing. Did you hear grave-robbing. I didn't." She turned to Xander with a shrug.

Spike barged in, looking straight at Buffy. "You have somethin' I want, Luv." He growled.

Buffy's eyes went wide. "Did Willow stuff up another spell?" She asked.

***At Melissa's house an hour later***

"I'm sure he'll be just a few more moments." Wesley told the girls with an unsure smile.

The two looked at him with disbelieving looks. "You've been saying that for an hour." Willow told the man.

"Yes, but I'm sure of it this time." He said, sitting down after pacing for 10 minutes."

The door opened with a smiling Spike strolling in, his hands behind his back. "Got a surprise for you, Kitten."

Melissa smiled. "Not a surprise, Sweety. Wesley told us you went out to get me something."

The blond man looked up at Wesley with narrowed eyes. "We're going to have a talk later on how to keep secrets."

Wesley snorted. "Like how you kept my secret teddy bear a secret I suppose?" He asked, giving the vampire a look.

Spike smirked. "Your fault you kept him in a not-so-secret hidin' place now isn't it?"

"Teddy bear?" Both girls asked at once, looking up at Wesley expectantly.

"Spike, what was that surprise you were going to give Melissa?" The man asked, turning to the blond.

With a roll of his eyes, Spike bent down in front of the list mom and kissed her on the cheek while he clasped the necklace around her neck. "Make a wish." He whispered in her ear.

"A wish?"

"A demon that went from dimension to dimension stole Anyaka's necklace from one of them. Brought it back. A sorcerer put a spell on it that Anyaka didn't have to be near it to grant the wish. It acts like a genie's lamp now. Just say 'I wish' and it'll be granted."

Melissa's eyes lit up as a devilish smirk appeared on her face. "Hmmm..." She thought a few things and held the locket. "I wish..."
