“Yes, dear. I won’t be here so I can’t do it.” He mother replied. “I’m so sorry I can’t be home for Christmas, sweetheart. It’s just… the gallery…” She tried to explain.
“It’s okay, mom, really.” Buffy smiled.
Joyce returned the smile then put on her serious mom look. “No wild parties while I’m gone.”
“Okay. You’ll be late for your plane if you don’t go now.” Buffy urged.
“Oh. Right.” She kissed her daughter on the cheek and picked up her two suitcases. “Bye, Buffy. I’ll see you in a few days. Don’t get into any trouble and for heaven’s sake don’t die again.” Said Joyce as she exited the Summers’ house.
The door closed. Buffy sighed, “Yes, mom.”
