Newsflash! Anthony Stewart Head doesn't shave his legs! Film at 11!
Buffy the Magazine: So, did you shave your legs for your appearance as Frank N. Furter on that VH1 Rocky Horror special?
Anthony Stewart Head: Absolutely not.
BTM: Really? It kinda looked like you did.
ASH: No, my Frank certainly never shaved his legs. My Frank is a bit seedy. He was definitely a slut. He wouldn't have dreamed of shaving his legs.
BTM: Was that one of your favorite Rocky Horror songs, "Planet Shmanet"?
ASH: No. It's a very difficult song. They originally wanted me to do Eddie, to do "Hot Patootie," and I said, "Um, nope." Once you've done Frank, you're not gonna settle for anything else. They did say that if I turned up early, they'd give me costume and makeup, and I said, "It's okay, I've got my own." It was up in my attic for years in England, and I brought it over because I went to a party in it for Halloween.
BTM: Were you the only cast member who brought your own costume?
ASH: Yes, I was. Even my own jewelry. Which was much coveted, I have to say.
BTM: How do you like the new Gilesmobile?
ASH: I can drive it, which is a huge improvement. Everything I've ever done where I had to drive, I've always said, "I only drive automatic. I don't drive manual shift." They've always given me a manual shift, without fail. There was a classic shot where I had to drive with the camera guys in the back of the car. They were smacking about in the back of the car, trying desperately to save the camera. They came out bruised and bloodied from being in the car with me. Marvelous.
BTM: What's the most British thing you do?
ASH: Drink tea, I suppose.
BTM: Do you still take tea breaks?
ASH: No, because it doesn't really work like that. But I always wake up to a cup of tea in the morning.
BTM: Have you become accosutomed yet to cold beer?
ASH: I have. I even drink Boddington's, a gorgeous English pale ale. I do like it cold. But there is nothing like a good glass of bitter in an English pub, which isn't cold, and you drink it with a chaser, and it's fantastic.
BTM: Have you ever been struck by lightning?
ASH: No, but I know someone who has.
BTM: That was my next question. Did it change them a lot?
ASH: I believe so. I didn't know them before, but they said it had changed them a lot. It must give you a fair intimation of mortality, really. You don't care so much. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, though.
BTM: Maybe the chances are less because you know someone who's been struck.
ASH: But there are people who've been struck twice.
BTM: That's so rare, though. Those people are walking lightning rods. Disasters waiting to happen.
ASH: Yeah, but there's out there.
BTM: Are you pleased with how your action figure came out?
ASH: It's great. I think Clay [Moore] did a great job.
BTM: When you have a finished one, will you play with it?
ASH: Yeah. Apparently, it's flattering to have as many points of articulation as I have.
BTM: They believe you to be a really flexible person.
ASH: Exactly.
