Slime Demons and Other Lovelies

Part Ten

Spike had a Smurfs screensaver. After getting past her initial shock, Willow moved the mouse, and chuckled when she saw the whole computer had a Smurf theme, right down to the cursor. Hearing a noise in the doorway, she looked up and saw Spike standing there.

“Smurfs?” she asked with a smirk.

"They happen to be very cool in the vampire community," Spike defended himself.

Willow raised one delicate eyebrow at him."Liar."

"I am not!" he said indignantly, eternally grateful that he couldn't blush and give himself away.

"You are too," she giggled. "You're possibly the biggest geek of all vampires everywhere. I'm going to go call Buffy and let her know," she teased him, moving to get up.

Spike sped across the room, leaning down to put an arm on each side of her, gripping the armrests. "Oh no you don't," he growled.

"Oh?" Willow quirked her eyebrow at him again. "And how are you going to stop me?" she asked.

Spike thought about that for a minute before coming to a decision.

"Oof!" Willow exclaimed as Spike spun around and sat on her lap. "Get off of me, you big lug!"

"Not a chance, Red. I'm not going to let you ruin my spotless reputation as a big tough bad guy who only with great reluctance helps the Slayer," he said.

"Fine," she giggled. "Can you at least roll us close enough to the computer so I can play a game or something?"

Part Eleven

"Put that on top of the nine," Spike instructed.

"This is Solitaire," Willow said. "As in, *one* person plays, the other shuts up and sits on her lap. It's not supposed to be a team sport," she sighed, then moved the black eight on top of the red nine as he had suggested.

"And if we were sitting in front of *your* computer and I wasn't completely bored, I might care," Spike said. "But don't count on it."

Willow giggled. "I still can't believe you have animated Smurf cards for Solitaire," she teased him as Papa Smurf did a dance on the screen in front of her. Then she sighed. "Spike, I can't feel my toes. Can you please get off my lap now?" she asked.

"Promise you won't call the Slayer?"

"I promise." Willow smiled in relief as Spike got up and the blood flow to her lower legs resumed. "Besides, she'd want to know where I've been the past 24 hours, and I think I'd rather let Giles explain all that."

"Which he's probably doing right now," Spike reminded her. "And we should be there."

She nodded, and he reached down to help her up. Together they walked to the library.

Part Twelve

"Slayer reporting for duty," Buffy called as she pushed through the library doors.

Willow, Xander, Spike and Oz were already there, sitting at the table with Giles and Cordelia, who was visiting for the weekend. "What's up with the slime demons?" she asked.

"Dead," Willow informed her.

Buffy kept going. "Because if we can't find this chosen one in time...wait, what was that?" she asked as what Willow had said sank in. She looked at Giles for an explanation. "Giles, what exactly did I miss?"

"Yes, well, it seems that our Chosen One in this case was not impossible to find as we had thought. Spike dispatched of the demons a few hours ago," Giles explained.

Xander saw the look of confusion on Buffy's face and translated for her. "Junior killed the baddies."

"Could you not call me that?" Spike ground out, glaring at Xander.

Xander ignored him. "So now what do we do?" he asked Giles.

"Well, Buffy should patrol, but the rest of you are free to go home," Giles decided.

Part Thirteen

Oz glanced at his watch as they all walked out of the library. "Oh man, I gotta go," he said, then ran off towards his van without waiting for anyone to say anything.

"What's the rush?" Xander called to his retreating back. "Do I stink or something?"

"The Dingos are playing at the Bronze tonight," Cordelia informed him. "That's why I drove all the way from LA this weekend, remember?"

"And here I thought it was so you could spend some quality time with me."

"You wish."

"Sometimes," Xander admitted. "But if it was only to see the Dingos, then maybe we should all go," he suggested, turning to Willow and Spike, who had been watching the two banter.

Willow nodded. "You guys go ahead, I'll meet you there. I want to change my clothes and take a shower first."

"I'll walk with you," Spike offered, trying to avoid going with Cordelia in case she noticed...

"Spike, what happened to your shoes?"

Part Fourteen

"I got slimed," Spike told her. "From head to $800 shoes."

Cordelia gasped. "How dare they! If you hadn't already killed them, I would do it myself. Those stupid demons have no shame!"

She looked around for agreement. Everybody was looking at her like she was crazy.

"What? They were nice shoes." Cordelia flashed Spike her best smile. "So when would you like to go shopping for new ones?"

Spike's eyes widened in panic as he envisioned himself standing in the middle of the mall with Cordelia again. "That's okay, ducks. Willow said she would take me." He took the redhead's hand and started walking in the direction of her house.

"Just don't let her talk you into buying anything at Sears!" Cordelia called after them.
