The fourth series was, as far as I know, only published in small black paperbacks. It should also be noted that libraries will sometimes buy paperbacks and convert them into hardcover books. They cut off the cover, slap a hardcover binding on it and then sometimes paste the paperback cover onto the new binding. I found one of the the fourth series converted like this in a used bookstore once. It was a yucky yellowish/tan binding with the picture pasted on it.

It has come to my attention there are two different versions of the Tom Swift IV paperbacks available in the U.S. The first version has the ISBN number on the back of the book. The second version has a blank, white square where the ISBN number should be. Since I've found more than one book like this, I doubt it is the result of a printing error. I suspect, but can't prove, that the ones without ISBN numbers were sold through children's book clubs, book fairs, etc. Since books from these clubs are sold at prices considerably less than from a normal bookstore, I'm guessing the ISBN numbers were removed to prevent people from buying them and attempting to bring them to a regular bookstore and getting a higher refund or exchange amount for them than what they originally paid. If anyone has any further information on this, please let me know.

I love reading these books and if you have any extra ones you wish to trade or sell at a reasonable price, let me know. Condition isn't real important as I only need reading copies. Of course, if they are in nice shape, so much the better.
