A New Slayer in Sunnydale
By Jessi Knorr
Disclaimer: The characters in this story are property of the WB network, Joss
Whedon and Mutant Enemy productions. I only take credit for Jessie and Fredrick.
In no way am I connected with the show, and I had no intention of using the characters
illegally, I was just using them in my story, so don't sue me! I pretty much have
no money worth taking, anyway.
Summary: Buffy's cousin, Jessie, comes to Sunnydale. But there's more to this
young teen than it seems...Spike and Drusilla are back and get involved. Angel is
back from hell, but Buffy doesn't know this. I don't know how he gets out, though.
It just fits with the story line.
Distribution: Sure! Just tell me where it's gonna be, first...
Feedback: Even better than it being seen more! Send your blessed comments
to Slayer_2000_@hotmail.com. But no
flames please...Those won't be taken too kindly.
Please Note: This story was written before the third season started, so none
of the characters introduced in season 3 are in this. And any resemblance to season
3 is coincidental! Really! Also, this is my first attempt at fan-fiction, so be gentle
with the criticism.
Prologue
It was a cold night. Too cold, considering southern California's temperature never
dipped below 15. A young girl stood at a bus stop, rubbing her hands for warmth and
muttering to herself.
"I hate buses. They're so slow, and never on time." Around the corner came
two large headlights of a bus, illuminating the girls face. Her blue eyes shut tight
from the blazing light. She was pale, and her skin was blushed red from the cold.
When the bus came to a stop, an elderly driver stepped off and checked the area for
passengers, but only found the girl.
"Excuse me,where does this go?"
"Next stop? Sunnydale, say 80-90 miles away," The driver replied, putting
her bags into the storage compartment and ripping her ticket.
"Thank you." She shot him a friendly smile and got on. She looked around,
no one. But as she neared the back, she saw a young man with his head down. The man
looked up, sensing someone, and she looked away.Whoa, cutey at 4 'o clock! Smells
kinda weird, though. She mentally noted as she sat in the seat across from the boy.The
driver hoped back on board and they drove away from the stop and into the night.
About 5 minutes down the road, the elderly man called from the front, "So why
you headed to Sunnydale, young lady?"
"Uh...I have family there."
"Oh.There's rumors flying around some pretty weird stuff happens. Vampires live
there, or something!" The driver chuckled softly at the concept of evil demons
running through such a small town.
"There's no such thing as vampires," she shot back.
"You have no idea," the young man mumbled softly.
"Did you say something, sir?" the girl asked. The young man just looked
at her and turned his head to the window and looked out of it. Silent. Distant. Troubled.
The girl settled back into her seat and closed her eyes as the bus
roared by a sign:
Sunnydale 90
*~*~*
It had gotten strangely darker and colder out when the bus rolled into the Sunnydale
bus depot. The girl hopped off the bus and gathered her bags then spent a few minutes
walking around the parking lot, searching for the young man.
"Weird...He got off...Oh well." She shrugged and walked off. While gazing
at the dimly lit neighbourhood surrounding the depot, someone came from behind and
knocked her down.
"Do you mind?" the girl hissed, rolling onto her back and looking at her
attacker.
"Oh. I'm so sorry, I didn't...know you were there," replied another girl.
She was short, light blonde hair falling to her leather-clad shoulders.
"It's okay," the first girl said, smiling and standing up.
"You're new here, aren't you?"
"Yeah, my name's Jessie."
"I'm Buffy." The two shook hands.
"Cool. Uh listen, I've got to go make a phone call. I'll see you later?"
"Okay. Bye." Jessie waved and walked off into the darkening skies.
"Something doesn't seem right. Oh well." Buffy turned and started towards
home. Yet unbeknownst to either of the girls, someone had been in the bushes, listening
to their conversation...
