October 2000

In October 2000, I heard that Amazon.com was hosting an auction of ‘Spin City’ memorabilia, with the proceeds going toward The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. I thought that this would be the perfect time to (1) own a piece of Michael and the show and (2) donate to the foundation. So I started bidding…..and bidding…..and bidding some more!
After all was said and done, I won the bids for two of Michael’s ties that he wore on the show along with the blue excelsior flag that adorned his office. These three items totaled nearly $800, which included shipping and insurance. But it was all well worth it!

Unfortunately, the flag arrived damaged (the ornamental top was broken off) but, after several months dealing with the insurance company, I was reimbursed. I have since repaired the flag, but I still cannot set it up in my home because the darn thing is about 9 ft high! My ceilings aren’t tall enough! I’m glad I have it all though! I wouldn’t trade these things for the world!
