Here's some news from my friend in London, Jennifer

You won't believe who I just spoke to! Ricky Martin's
Promotions
Person
in Colombia Records, London! Firstly, I want to thank
you, Nydia, for
forwarding Sony's phone number. A lady named Sam
returned my call but
she actually thought I was calling from Capital Radio
because our
office
number is very similar to theirs. I asked her for
more info about Ricky's promotional
activities while he's in London on 28-29 April. She
told me he won't
actually be here on those dates but will be in Lake
Como (Italy?) for
an
international album launch. But he is expected to be
in Barcelona on
30
April and has a day off in Barcelona on 1 April.
Ricky's schedule is
constantly changing, not because of him but because of
his personnel
who
can't be in two places at once but El Huracan is
literally flying from
country to country! He is expected to be in London on
16 May for one
day only and at the moment Sam is pushing for him to
be invited on Des
O'Connor's TV Show. I asked how the fans can show
their support by
going to the show but was told that the TV show
organises the fans
themselves, and they're not necessarily the fans of
the invited guests.
Sam encouraged me to ring again a few days before 16
May to check what
Ricky's doing! His single isn't expected to be
released in this
country
until July, hu, hu, hu. Sam is also trying to get
Living la vida loca
played on Capital Radio and this is where she thinks
we 'the fans' can
help. If we get enough people, starting now, to
constantly ring them
up
and ask for the song, they might ring Colombia Records
and start
playing
it as opposed to Colombia Records trying to push them
to play it. She
thinks there's not enough awareness of his work in the
UK and she feels
that the more awareness there is of Ricky, the better
his chances are
of
getting invited to the big shows and the main radio
stations here.
Please ask everyone who's willing to support him to
ring Capital Radio
on (0171) 766 6000 or the request line on (0171) 484
8958. I know
that's a big ask for people in your part of the world,
Nydia, but
perhaps you could ask your members to email their
request togary.king@capitalfm.com or niel.fox@capitalfm.com If
we inundate them
with requests and tell them how wonderful Ricky is,
his explosive
performance at the Grammy's, etc, etc then we can
increase the demand
for his appearance.
So girls, start contacting Capital FM!
Yours in unity
Jennifer

Ricky Martin is sending Canada into a Latin-fuelled frenzy. His new single, "Livin' La Vida Loca" is now playlisted on every Top 40 radio station. The single was even played over the phone to some stations so they could hear it and based on what they heard, they added it immediately! Even over the snap and crackle of a telephone, the pure pop shined through.
The ascendency of Ricky Martin to superstardom continues. His latest single, "Livin' La Vida Loca", hit the number one spot on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks and Pop Chart. The track has also debuted at #54 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart as a Hot Shot Debut. This astonishing success has meant that Ricky's self-titled album release had been put forward to MAY 11. Make a note in your diary, stick a post-it on your forehead, because Ricky is coming.

I’ll never stop singing in Spanish. I’m very proud of where I came from. But let’s communicate right? Why not?"
