Chapter Four: A Ewing Trapped

Jesse just stood there. He thought Emily may have forgotten about him. It had been months and nothing from her, not a letter, nothing. And now, there she was, Jesse looked at her, she looked more beatiful than the first time he saw her. The only diffrence was in her face. She had a look to her that he hadn't seen before. Before he could say anything.
Emily spoke,

"Hi Jesse, I'm going to cut right to the chase," There was a sense of fear in her voice, "You need to leave this town, and forget all about me, the town, and the Star gang." Emily looked at Jesse,

"Emily, I..."He looked into her eyes, and he could tell that something was really wrong. Then he noticed, her eyes kept looking off to the side.

"Maybe you're right, maybe it was my fault that James was killed, not Frank Star's." Collen couldn't believe what he was hearing, they came all this way for nothing?

"Jesse," Collen said. Jesse just took his hand behind his back and waived Collen off.
"Yes, Jesse, forget about everything." Emily walked off into the dark, and left Jesse standing there. Collen looked at him.

"What the hell.." Before he could finish, Jesse intrupted.

"There was someone out there with her. She kept looking off to the side." Collen felt stupid, he knew what that look was, then again, he wasn't close to her.

"So we're not leaving?" Collen asked.

"No, I think we will leave. After we have a disagreement." Jesse looked at Collen, and they both just smiled.

The next morning Collen and Jesse went down to the saloon to get a drink and check out. The two walked into the already half filled saloon and ordered a drink. The bar tender took their orders.

"So you two decided to leave town did ya?" The man behind the bar asked.

"Well, he did," Jesse said in a little bit of a loud voice, and leaned his head towards
Collen. Collen looked at Jesse,

"We both agreed it was best."

"Like hell we did, You just chickenedout after a little gun fight last night." Jesse was gettting a little angry now and turned to face Collen.

"Listen Ewing, I don't know about you, but I want to keep my life, while I still have a few years left." Collen, was ready for a fist fight, he had taught the Ewing boys everything they knew. He could best Jesse.

"Alright old man, you want to live you damn life, do it. My brother is dead because of Frank Star, and if you don't want to help me, FINE!" As soon as Jesse said that, he pushed Collen into a table, knocking it down.

"You are so obessed with Frank Star, let it be, get a life, and learn how to punch." With that Collen jumped up and hit Jesse right in the jaw. Jesse, fall back and hit the floor. He got up and started for Collen. The he stopped.

"Your not worth it, old man." Jesse got his hat and walked out the door. Collen looked around, there wasn't a big mess. Then a man, about 6ft tall came up to him.

"You really don't like that Ewing anymore, do ya partner?" Collen looked at the man.

"No, you could say that I have had enough of his crap to last a lifetime." The man looked
Collen up and down.

"There is someone I want you to meet." The two left the saloon and walked to a building across the street. The man took Collen in the buliding and then called out, "He's here."
Collen didn't really know what was going on, but was sure that he wasn't going to like it. Collen saw a shadow approaching him. Then he heard a voice.

"Good day Mr. Gray, I am so very gald you came." Collen could now see a man, he was tall with dark hair.

"HHmmm, Mr. Star, I prosume." Collen said.

"Very good, I heard about your fight with the Ewing, and thought you might be helpful to me." Collen looked at the man, he looked just as evil as he was.

"What do I get out of the whole deal?" Collen asked.

"Well," Star said, "A couple hundred to start out with, then, perhaps, if you do the job, a thousand." Collen, thought for a minute.

"What would this job be? Kill Jesse?" Frank stared at Collen, "No, just bring him to me, I will do the rest." Collen stood up, and stepped closer to Star.

"You have found your man." Star, grinned a little, then handed Collen two hundred dollors. A few of my men will go with you, if you don't mind."

"Of course not, I won't need the help, but the company will be nice." Collen and the chosen men went outside, jumped on the horses, and rode off.

Jesse had been resting near a river for awhile now. He just felt like taking it easy. It had been few hours since the fight with Collen, and he was expecting something to happen soon. Just then he heard horse feet, running against the desert ground. He stood up and saw Collen, and four other riders comming towards him. Jesse pulled out his gun and
stood ready.

"Jesse," Collen said, getting closer. "I won't hurt you, but I need to talk."

"Who are these guys? Jesse asked, "Your body guards?" Jesse laughed a little to himself. Collen let out a little grin,

"You know I don't need any body guards."

"So why did you come find me?" Jesse asked, somewhat confussed.

"They are here to stop me from killing you." Jesse looked into Collens eyes.

"Kill me?"

"That right, we're taking you back to the town, to see, Frank Star." Jesse couldn't
belive his ears.

"WHAT!!??"

"Or, I may just kill you now." Collen pulled his gun up and pointed it straight at Jesse, he had him at point blank range, he pulled on the trigger, Jesse just stood there, Collen pulled
the hammer back and........
