PROLOGE

Enoch Southworth, was not a tall man, but he was a ladys man, he was
5'7, had brown hair, and eyes, and wieghed about 140 lbs. he was pretty
well built, and in good health. All the young girls in the town, wanted
him so much, yet he had no intrust in them, for as long as anyone can
remember, he had only been in love with on girl, Sara Griffth, she was
just an average size young girl, about 5'4, blonde hair, green eyes,and
wieghed about 115. And she loved him back, she had never loved anyone,
like she loved him.

Jessie Ewing, was about 6'1 dark hair, brown eyes,and wieghed about 175.
He was Sheriff of a small Texas town, not didn't always play by the
rules. Most men were scared of him, and those that weren't, didn't live
long enough to tell anyone about it. Jessie wasn't married, mostly
because he had not found anyone that he felt was worthy enough. But he
knew that one day, he would find someone. Jessie was the oldest out of
three boys, Jeffery was the middle, and James was the youngest. Jeffery
was Jessie's deputy, and he loved the work, mostly, he liked the
killing.

Today was going to be a day that Enoch and Sarah rememberd, it was the
day before their wedding. It was almost quarter till 1p.m. Enoch walked
out of his house and looked up at the blue sky,

"Today is going to be another hot day," Enoch said, looking down at his father who was fixing the family wagon.

"Yes son, probably so," His father said, still working.

"hhmmmm, dad, don't you think you should get ready, we're supose to meet Sarah and her family for the wedding supper in a little bit." Enoch, was the kind of man that wanted everything perfect.

"Don't worry son, I'll be ready. " Enochs father looked up at his son for only a min. he was so proud of him. His oldest son, getting married, and having a family of his own.

"Okay, I'm going to get the rest of the gang gathered up." Enoch, said, and then walked down to the burn to get his brother and sisters in the house. "come on guys, Mother is in the house waiting to get all of you ready.." Enoch had three sisters, Opal was 2
years younger than him, Grace was 5 years younger than him, and his
brother Jacob and other sister Jenny were twins, they were 10 years
younger than him. "Come on guys" Enoch said in a even firmer voice. They
were all in the barn taking care of the animals, they all loved Enoch,
and loved Sara.

"We're coming." Opal said, putting the feed bucket down.
All the children walked out of the barn into the house.

Jessie and Jeffery had come up against the Star gang, they weren't much,
but they had their share of killings. Frank Star was the leader. He was
a mean one. But Jessie wasn't scared. Jessie and Jeffery walked into the
town bar where Star was getting drunk. Jessie went up to Frank,

"Star, you know I'm go'n haft to run you and your gang in." Jessie looked him
straight in the eye.

"I don't think you will be able to Ewing. We have this town surounded, me and my boys are going to walk out of here, safe and sound." Frank looked right back at Jessie.

"You think it will be that easy do ya?" Jessie said, has he put his hand on his gun.

'Ewing, I admit, you might be able to out shoot , me, But you won't even try."
Frank motioned with his right hand. and Jessie saw James being lead out
by a couple of men.
"What the hell is this Star, let go of my brother, or I'll...."

"You'll do what? You shoot me, they'll kill him. Come on boys." Frank walked past Jessie with with James in front, Even though Jessie was a hard man, his family came first. Frank looked back at Jessie,

"When we get the the town border, we'll let him go." Frank mounted his horse and they all rode off. Jeffery noticed a few men on the roof tops, he looked at Jessie, then at Frank. The Gang was almost to the border. Jeffery drew his gun and shot one of the men. Frank
turned to see what happened, then dropped James, drew his gun, then shot him. The gang took off, and Jessie ran out to get his brother.

The Southworths and the Griffths had a nice supper in town. Enoch and
Sarah said their goodbyes and went their seperate ways. Sarah went back
home and worked on her dress, Enoch went to a couple of freinds house to
have a "guys" night out. And the rest of the families went to there
houses to get a good nights rest.
The night came quickily, and with it came a little cooloer weather.
Enoch sat in a chair talking to his friend Ben, when they were startled
by a loud knock,

"ENOCH, ENOCH, IT'S ME, JOE" Enoch jumped up and ran to
the door,

"Joe? Whats wrong?"

"I'm sorry, but please you must come with me."

"Why, Joe, whats wrong?" Enoch couldn't get Joe to settle down.

"It's your house, it's on fire" Joe said, looking at Enoch.

"WHAT!!! " Enoch looked at Ben, Ben jumped up and ran outside with Enoch and Joe,
they jumped on their horses, and rode off to the burning house.

Jessie kneeled down beside James, and held him in his arms. Jeffery
walked up, Jessie turned and looked at him.

"Why?" Jessie asked, "why did you have to shoot?"

"I'm sorry," Jeffery said looking away, "I thought that they were going to shoot one of us, I..." Jeffery turned away,

"Jeffery, you know what kind of men they are, you killed James, you never did like him." Jessie laid James down on the ground and stood up.

"You should be ashamed to even have the name Ewing. Now get out of my sight, I NEVER WANT TO SEE YOU IN THIS TOWN AGAIN!!" Jessie was getting more mad by the minute Jeffery look arond at him.

"Don't worry BROTHER, I'll leave town, for now, but I'll get ya, and I'll get you good."
Jeffery turned and walked away,leaving Jessie standing, and James lying
dead on the ground.

It only took a few mins. for them to ride to the house, Enoch couldn't
belive it, the whole house was burning like mad, dozen of people were
there trying to help put it out. Enoch jumped off his horse and ran up
toward the house. A few towns men saw him, and grabed him.

"No Enoch, noone could survive in there."

"Mom, Dad, what about them, and Jacob, and the girls? Where are they" Enoch looked around.

"Come on Enoch, lets go to the barn." Clint, another towns man, took Enoch to the barn where Jacob and Jenny were.

"Enoch!" Jenny cried and ran up to Enoch, Enoch bent down and wraped his arms around Jenny and Jacob.

"Clint," Enoch said, looking up Wheres the rest..." Before Enoch could finished, Clint
pulled him up and took aside,

"Enoch, The rest didn't make it out." Clint said, almost in tears. Enoch fell to the ground, Clint continued..."From what Jacob and Jenny said, Your mom and the other 2 girls were around the table, your father came up, to light the lattern and it exploded, Jacob said that him and Jenny were by the door, and the ran out. I'm sorry," Clint put his hand on Enoch's shoulder and then walked out,
Jenny and Jacob came up and sat down next to Enoch, they both put their
heads on his lap and went to sleep, Enoch just sat there.
Enoch was still there in the morning when Sarah walked up to him, she
was crying, but tried to be strong for him.

"Enoch, Honey, I'm sorry, I..." She just didn'tknow what to say. Enoch stood up, looked at Sarah, with the saddest eyes., he walked out of the barn, and fell to the
ground. He looked up at the burned house, with tears in his eyes he
spoke, like he was speaking to someone

"I love all of you, and I promise that I will make you all proud of me, of Jenny, and of Jacob. " He looked up, and shouted, NNNNNOOOOOOO!!!!!........"
