Chapter Six: A Texas Reuion

It was a beautiful sunny day over the skies in Texas. Sarah walked out of her parents home, she was headed to town to pick up the mail. It had been months since Enoch had left, and she had heard nothing from him. She was a littel scared, maybe he didn't want her anymore, maybe he found someone else, or maybe he was dead. She walked down the road thinking when she heard a voice call from behind her.

"SARAH" Joesph called running up to her. "I'm going to town with you..." Sarah looked at him. She really wanted to be alone, espeically when she got the mail. But she loved Joesph like he was her own brother.

"Okay, lets hurry, it should be in town by now." The two kept walking and turning to Sarah, Joesph looked at her to ask her a question.

"Sarah, why do you think that Enoch hasn't writen?" Sarah almost started to cry.

"I....I don't know, I'm sure...I'm sure he has is reasons." Joesph looked at her.

"Oh, but.." He stoped, and turned his head back to the road. The both of them kept walking into town without saying another word.

Joesph and Sarah walked into the post office and went up to the front desk. Behind the desk stood Carl Bell, an older gentleman who had work at the post office for years.

"Well hello Sarah, Joesph, how are you this fine afternoon?"

"Hi Mr. Bell," Joesph said.

"We would be better if you tell us there is a letter for Sarah." Carl looked at the box and picked up a envolople.

"Well, I do have something for you Sarah," Carl looked at the envolope. "It's from Southfork Ranch in Fort Worth, I hadn't ever heard of that one." He handed it over to Sarah, Sarah opened it and read, as she read her eyes got as big as baseballs,

"It's from Enoch, he coming home to get us!!!!" Sarah started screaming for joy and ran out of the post office to tell her folks.

The next few days went very slow for the whole family, but finally the day came, the day Enoch would come home. The whole family went to the trian depot to wait on Enoch. When the trian finally arrived, everyone waited for him to get off, and as soon as Sarah saw him, she ran up to him and gave him a big hug.

"Oh Sarah, I missed you so much, I'm sorry I didn't write more, I have just been so busy." Sarah kissed him,

"I understand, I don't care now, I have you back, and I am not going to let go." Enoch walked up and saw Joesph and Jenny standing there, they both ran up to Enoch and gave him the hugs.

"My you two have gotten so big, I just can't belive it."

"You have changed a little to big brother," Jenny said.

"Yah, whats with the beard?" Joesph asked.

"Well, working out in the fields, i don't get a lot of chances to shave." Enoch, Sarah and the rest of the family walked up to the horse and buggy and got in.

"I want to hear all about this Ranch your working at." Sarah said holding tightly to Enochs hand.

"Now Sarah, there will be plenty of time for all that, let him rest." Her mother said. They all rode back to the house without saying anything else.

Sarahs mother had dinner ready and the whole family sat down to eat.

"So," Sarah said, "What about this Ranch, is it a big one?"

Well," Enoch started. "You could say that."

"What do they do on the ranch Enoch?" Sarahs father asked,

"Well, I guess I should start from the beginnig. I own Southfork Ranch, it is one hundred thousand acres and we will be mostly raising cattle and horses." Everyone looked at Enoch in disbelif.

"Did you say one hundred thousand acres?" Sarah asked.

"Yep, thats what I said, and I already have about 100 head of cattle, and about twenty mean working for me."

"Enoch, how can you afford all that?" Sarha asked.

"Well, the land was cheap, and I was left alot of money, so..."

"What about us? Our wedding?"

"Well, thats one reason I came home, I would like to have the wedding at Southfork, and would like to take the whole family there, and friends."

"What???" Sarah wasn't sure to be mad or happy.

"I think thats a great idea Enoch," Sarahs father said.

"Well, I guess..." Sarah said. "As long as it's right away."

Enoch looked at her, 'Is next month to soon." Sarah jumped up and hugged Enoch,

"I love you so much." She said. Before Enoch and Sarah, and her whole family left, he told them he had to make a stop. Enoch walked to to four grave stones.

"Hello mother, father, I'm sorry I have been gone so long, I have been real busy." Enoch told them about the Ranch, and the marriage, and then kissed the grave stones. "I promise, I will never let you down." Enoch turned and walked away, he went back towards the buggy, it was time to go back and start his own family.
