Chapter Three: "The Men of Texas"
Enoch walked outside where David was standing. David looked at Enoch.
"Enoch, I think I have the perfect land for you to start your ranch."
"Really?" Enoch said "Where is it?" David pointed to some open field across from his own land.
"It's over there. all that land over there needs to be staked. I'm sure you could get sixty thousand acres or so, enough for a good running ranch." Enoch thought for a minute, it would be perfect, he could get the ranch working, then marry Sarah.
"Okay, I think it sounds good, I'll start staking it right away." Enoch and David walked behind the house where the barn was. Enoch started to saddle up his horse. and David did the same. After the horses were ready, the two rode off to the land that Enoch would stake. While riding, Enoch looked over at David,
"Is this land rich?" Enoch asked.
"Well, I think it is some pretty good land. There is actually over One Hundred Thousand
acres." David said, wacthing Enochs reaction.
"One hundred thousand?" "Yes sir, but I figure the last part of the land isn't very good."
"Why not?" Enoch asked,
"Its to dry, and theres noway to get water to it." David replyed. Enoch didn't say anything, he just started thinking.

Jesse and Collen had been riding for hours. They had been told that The Star Gang was down in the Southern part of Texas. So thats where they headed. They came upon a small Texas town. The two rode into town, and found the local saloon. Jesse and Collen walked in, both were thristy but both had one thing on their mind, Frank Star.
"Excuse me," Jesse said, tring to get everyones attention, "Excuse me, could anyone
tell me if the Star Gang has been around here?" Jesse didn't get any kind of response. The two men walked up to a bar, and looked around.
"WELL, I guess these people in this town are scared." Jesse said loudly. Collen laughed. A man sitting back in a corner spoke up.
"What excatly you folks talk'n 'bout." Jesse and Collen turned around and saw an older
gentleman sitting alone. The two walked up to the man.
"We're looking for Frank Star, you seen him?" Jesse said. The man looked at Jesse, then
looked over at the bar where two men, starred right at him.
"No, I can honestly say, I have not seen him." Jesse and Collen both looked at each
other, and then back at the bar.
"Alright," Jesse said, "We'll catch ya later." Jesse and Collen walked out and walked over to the hotel to get a couple of rooms.

Enoch stared at the open land. there was so much, and his dreams we're so big. "What ya think Enoch?" David asked.
"I want to ride on somemore, take a look at all the land." Enoch said.
"Well, ok." The two got back on their horses and rode on to the next part of land. They came upon a dry peice of land, it looked like a dessert, there wasn't very much grass, and the grass that was there was dry. Enoch Knew that this could be rich land.
"I figure that this would be the part of land that you wouldn't want. It's to dry." David said, looking at Enoch.
"Well, wheres the river at on this land? Or is there one?" Enoch was almost positive that this land was useful.
"I believe it's up a ways." David was tired, he wasn't sure what Enoch was thinking, but was sure that they would have to keep riding.
"Lets go," Enoch said, and the two rode off towards the east part of the land. The two rode on for a good ways, until Enoch spoted something.
"Over there, look." Enoch & David got off their horses What they saw, was amazing, it started from the north, and flowed South. "David, look at this river, I can't belive this." Enoch was sure that this was the land for him.
"Enoch, this is bigger than where it flows through my land." David said. The two walked up the river a little ways.
"David, look at that." Enoch said, pointing straight ahead of them. In front of them there was a big fork in the river. Enoch looked at the river for a while. Then he looked at David. "This is it, what I have been looking for. The Southfork Ranch is born."

Jessie and Collen sat in their rooms, debating over what to do. Then a knock came to the door. Jesse stood up and went to open the door. There in front of him was the drunk from the bar.
"What are you doing here?" Jesse said, looking at the man.
"I thought I would let you know, that if you were smart, you would leave town." The man looked at Jesse and then started to tell Jesse something else. "Frank Starr knows you too
well...and he know your here, he pla...." The man was cut off by a load bang, then He fell into Jesses arms, more shots came and Collen jumped, grabbed his gun and threw it to Jesse. The two men hid behind the wall, and returned fire.
"What in the hell is going on." Collen said, as shots were still be fired at them.
"I guess Starr didn't like the man talking to us." The two returned fire, but instead of shots being fired back. there was silence. Jesse and Collen looked at each other, then they
peeped out of the door.
"What is going on?" Jesse said. The two shut the door, and went to put their guns up. Not two minutes later there was another knock at the door. Jesse pulled his gun back out, and went to anwser the door, he looked at Collen, who had his gun drawn also. Jesse opened the door, and dropped his gun. There in front of him was the one person, he never ever thought to see.
