Lost Ewing

It was a beautiful morning over the sky at Southfork. Bobby had gotten up, showered, and decided that he should go check on J.R. to see if he was all right and sober. Bobby loved his bother, but yet he wasn't sure what to do with him. Bobby went to J.R.’s room, and knocked on the door, "J.R. are you all right?" Bobby knocked and didn't get an answer, so he went on in and noticed that the broken mirror was still laying in pieces, and that JR's bed was still unmade. Bobby went into the bathroom.

"JR?" There was still no answer. Bobby went down the hall and started down the steps, as he was walking down he saw Teresa, "Teresa, have you seen JR?" Bobby asked.

"No Sir, I haven't seen him yet" She answers back.

"Ok, thanks, there was an little accident in his room last night, can you make sure it gets cleaned up?" Bobby knew she would. Teresa had worked at Southfork for a very long time, and he knew that she took her job very seriously.

"Yes Sir, And this was left on the table for you." She handed Bobby an envelope with his name on it, and then went upstairs. Bobby opened the envelope and took out a letter, as he read he saw it was from JR:

Bobby,

I am truly sorry for any wrongs I have caused, I love you very much, and

I am so very glad to have had a bother like you. I know that I have caused a lot of people distress and that people would rather see me dead than be my friend. I have decided that it would be better if I leave, I don't know if I will ever be able to come back or not. I want to wish you happiness and hope that you have a good life. Please take care of Ewing & Ewing just for a little bit until I decide what I'm going to do with it. Tell John Ross I love him and that I always will.

Your Brother,

J.R.

Bobby couldn't believe what he read, he had never known JR to give up this easily, but then again, maybe it was better that he left, at least for a little bit, maybe then things could go to normal. Bobby folded the letter up and put it in his pocket. As he started walking for the door, the phone rang.

"Hello" Bobby answered.

"Hi Bobby, this is Sly, is JR around, I really would like to talk to him."

"Hi Sly, no I'm sorry, he's not, it looks like he won't be around for a while, is something wrong?"

"Kinda, I told JR that I was getting married and that I would be leaving Dallas. I gave him my two weeks, and he seemed ok, but then last night, he told me to get out, and never come back. I figured he was just drunk, but I thought I would call and check on him."

"Well, he wasn't in his best mind last night, hmmm, go ahead and go to the office, I'll be there in a little bit, and we'll see what we can do."

"Ok, thanks Bobby, I'll see you in a bit."

"Bye Sly, and congratulations" Bobby hung up the phone, just in time for it to ring again. Bobby picked it up, "Hello" Bobby said again.

"Bobby? It’s Michelle. I was wondering if you might be able to come over for a sec." Bobby could tell she had been crying and maybe even drinking a little. Bobby hesitated,

"I was just on my to town, is it important?"

"I feel it is, but if you don't have time, I understand" Michelle, was depressed and Bobby knew it.

"Alright, I'll be right over." Bobby hung up the phone and went outside.

Cliff couldn't wait to get to the office. This was the first full day that he would be complete owner of Ewing Oil. Oh how he loved the thought of owning JR's company, Jock’s company…his company. Even though Jock may not have cheated Digger out of his shares, he knew that Digger would be proud of his son. Cliff had finally won his fight…the fight that he had lost time and time again. Cliff was dressed in a brand new gray suit, that cost him more than he had ever spent on a piece of clothing, but he had stopped caring for money, he had all he could dream of and had Ewing Oil.

The doors of the elevator opened, and Cliff stepped out. He greeted Kendall and went up to his secretary Jackie. He had the whole day planned.

"Morning Jackie, get me Eddie McDonald on the phone please." Cliff walked on into his office, barely giving Jackie time to say hello.

"Yes sir, " Jackie answered and immediately dialed the phone. Cliff was sitting in his chair, JR's chair, trying to figure out the new computer system. He was so much into the computer that he nearly hit the roof when the phone buzzed.

"Yes Jackie." Cliff answered back into the phone.

"Mr. McDonald on line one."

Cliff picked up the phone, and started to talk to Eddie McDonald, "Eddie, how ya doin?" Cliff really didn't care, he just thought he should be polite.

"Hello Mr. Barnes, I'm pretty good, thank you, what can I do for ya?"

Eddie McDonald was the newest oil men in Dallas, his company was small, but had a lot of valuable assets.

"Eddie, I want to buy your company."

"What!!? I'm sorry Mr. Barnes, my company isn't for sale." This came as a big surprise to Eddie.

"I know that it isn't on the market, but I really do think we could cut a great deal." Cliff wanted to make Ewing Oil bigger than JR ever could.

"OK, you make up a deal, and come by my office in a couple of days...sound good?"

"Sounds great, you won't be disappointed." Cliff hung up the phone and leaned back into his chair.

Bobby pulled up at Michelle’s ranch, as he got out of his car, Michelle came out to greet him. She was barely dressed, had a pair of cut off blue jean shorts and a black cut off shirt, she looked like she hadn't slept all night, her hair wasn't done, and she didn't even have make up on. Bobby had never seen her look like this. He always thought that no matter what, she always had to look like a million bucks. As Bobby approached the steps, Michelle spoke to him, "Thanks for coming Bobby, I really need to talk to someone." Michelle looked like she was ready to start crying at any moment.

"Well, you sounded like you might need someone, what’s wrong?" Bobby asked.

"Bobby, they all took everything from me, April, my marriage, Ewing Oil, my life...I feel like I have no one." Michelle started crying, and fell to her knees, Bobby went up to her and held her in his arms.

"Michelle, I know how it feels, remember, I lost my wife, but you have to get a hold of yourself, April wouldn't want you do to this to yourself."

"I know, but I just miss her so much, I talked to Momma this morning, she wants me to come home and start over."

"That may be a good idea, get away from Dallas, and get a fresh start."

Bobby wasn't sure really what to say. He knew she needed to be comforted, so he tried the best he could.

"Maybe I might. Would you buy the ranch? If I leave, I never want to come back."

"I would be glad to buy it from you." Bobby had wanted to have the ranch anyway before McKay had sold it to Michelle.

"Thanks Bobby, I'll let you know in a couple of days what I've decided."

"You do that, and if you need anything else, call me." Bobby got up and started to leave. Michelle yelled after him.

"Thanks Bobby." Bobby got in his car and drove off. Michelle was alone again.

Bobby walked into the offices of Ewing & Ewing. He didn't know what he was going to do there, even though JR may have given control, he didn't have any interest in it.

"Good Morning Sly." Bobby greeted Sly just as he used to at Ewing Oil. "Any messages?"

"Good Morning, yes there are a ton of messages." Sly handed Bobby what seemed like 1000's of slips full of messages.

"OK, thanks, get me Harve Smithfield on the phone, then call Phyllis, and tell her what’s going on, and ask her to come in, and hold all other calls."

"Ok Bobby, and Phyllis is on her way." Sly knew that since she was leaving

Bobby would need someone, and so she went ahead and called Phyllis.

"Thanks Sly, now I know why JR kept you around." Bobby smiled at her and went into JR's office.

"Bobby," Sly called over the intercom, "Harve Smithfield on line one."

"Thanks Sly," Bobby answered.

"Harve, I really need you to come by here, it's important."

"Whats going on Bobby?" Harve asked.

"Harve, I have a problem." Bobby replied.

"What else is new?" Harve said chuckling a little.

"JR's gone, and he’s left control of Ewing & Ewing to me."

"JR gone?" Harve couldn't believe it, JR was one of the strongest men he knew

"Harve, I need to know if I can do anything with Ewing & Ewing, I don't want to be in this business anymore."

"Well, if JR gave you control of the company, then all you can do is let someone else control it, You can't sell it, because it's not your company."

"Thanks, Harve, I think I know what I'm going to do."

"No Problem Bobby, let me know what you decide."

And with that, they both hung up. Bobby sat back in his chair, and looked out the Window for a second, then he leaned over and pressed the intercom button on the phone. "Sly would you come here in for a minute please?" Bobby sat back and waited for Sly to come in.

"Yes sir?" A voice said, but it wasn't Sly. Bobby looked up and to his surprise, it was Phyllis.

"Glad to see you could make it in Phyllis." Bobby said with a big smile on his face.

"Glad to be here sir." She said also with a big smile. "You know, I told

J.R. that Hell would have to freeze over before I would work for him"

"Well, I hope you don't think I'm Hell" Bobby said grinning.

"Not at all," She replied back to him "What can I do for you?"

"Get Cliff on the phone, and tell him I'm on my way over, then try and learn all about Ewing & Ewing."

"Yes sir" Phyllis said and started to walk out, then she turned to Bobby, who was already standing getting his brief case.

"Bobby, it's great to be able to work with you again" Bobby looked at her and grinned

"You too, Thanks for being there, when I need you." Bobby said. Phyllis nodded and went to her desk, and Bobby walked out of Ewing & Ewing.

All the members were sitting around the board table in the Westar boardroom, Today was the day that they were going to vote in a new chairman. There were two people up for the chair, both from out of town, but both hard workers. The first was Matt

Bryan from Indianapolis, he had been chairman of the board for a small oil company there and had been in some deals with Westar before. The second, was Jennifer Sweet from Miami, she had been in the oil business since she was 6 years old, and also had some deals with Westar.

The board was getting ready to vote when the door opened and in walked Dusty Farlow. "Excuse me for interrupting, but I need a moment of your time"

David Walker, who was filling in as the chair, stood up and asked: "Who are you?"

"I'm sorry, my name is Dusty Farlow, and for those who don't know, I have a huge amount of stock and votes, and with a few more I can put someone in myself."

"You just can't come in here and take over" David said. Just then the door opened and in walked a Carter McKay.

"I'm afraid he can." McKay said and stood next to Dusty.

"As matter of fact, just between Mac, myself, and a few others, we ask that

Mac be reinstated as Chairman"

The board members looked at each other then at David. David stood up and asked to take a vote, "All those for McKay, raise your hands." Out of the 15 members 12 raised their hands for Mac.

"Well, Carter looks like your back in." David said looking at him. "But if you mess up just once, I'll be there." David looked at Mac and then walked out the door.

Cliff sat at his desk he had papers stacked up on both sides. He knew the business, but was trying to fix all, the stuff that Michelle had screwed up. Bobby walked through the elevator doors at Ewing Oil, He greeted Kendall, and walked on in the main lobby. He went up to Jackie and asked to see Cliff.

"He's really been busy, but I'm sure he'll see you." Jackie said. She pressed the intercom button and told Cliff that Bobby was there.

"Hmmm, show him in Jackie." Bobby walked into Cliff’s office.

"You need a break Cliff?" Bobby said almost grinning.

"Thanks for the offer Bobby. But as you can see, I'm trying to get some things finished, things that Michelle and James should have done." Cliff was working really hard already, he wanted everything to be perfect.

"Cliff, I need to talk to you, and I thought maybe it might be better to do over lunch." Bobby said.

"Well, if it is something that can be discussed now go ahead, if not, then I guess it will have to wait." Cliff, told Bobby with a low stern voice.

"Well" Bobby said standing up, "Why not come by Southfork for dinner tonight."

"Alright, I'll be there around 6, is that ok?" Cliff asked, barely looking at Bobby."

"That sounds good, I'll see you then." Bobby said, then walked out.

Michelle didn't have much to pack, but it was still hard. She sat on the floor waiting on the moving van to come and take everything. While she sat and waited, she picked up a picture of April. She loved April so much, she still couldn't believe that she was gone. She still longed for April, she still felt guilty about not being there to say goodbye. She still felt guilty about not being at the wedding. Michelle was so sorry for everything she had ever done to April, but she knew she had to get on with her life. Tears were running down her face, and she knew she had to go to Paris to say Goodbye. She could have sat there forever, but then the moving van came, and she knew it was time to get going. She stood up and greeted the men from the moving company, and showed them where the boxes were, as she started to walk outside, she saw Bobby walking up the front walk.

"Well," Bobby said "I guess you've decided what your doing." Bobby continued to walk up onto the porch, and stood next to Michelle.

"Yes, I've decided to move back to Ohio and get a new start, but before I do, I think I need to take a trip." Michelle looked at Bobby, with the saddest eyes.

"I think that you are doing the right thing, a trip would be good for you, and moving back home would be very good, your mother needs you right now." Bobby pulled Michelle a little closer to give her a hug.

"Thank you for everything Bobby, and I want you to take the Ranch, I didn't pay that much for it, please just take it." Michelle didn't care about money right now, she just wanted out.

"Michelle, I..." Bobby started to say when Michelle interrupted him.

"Don't Bobby, I just need away, send Momma a check or something, here’s the keys, I need to get out of here." And with that Michelle walked off the porch, got into her car and drove off.

Cliff pulled up at Southfork right at six, he really didn't feel he had time for this. He had feeling he knew what Bobby wanted. Cliff walked into the house, and was greeted be Raoul, and was shown into the living room where Bobby was sitting, alone. When Bobby saw that Cliff was there he got up to welcome him.

"Cliff, glad you could make it." Bobby went up to Cliff and shook his hand.

"Well, I can't stay too long, I have lots of things to do, say, where is everyone?" Cliff couldn't believe how quite the house was.

"Momma and Clayton have moved to Europe, J.R.’s left town, and Christopher is visiting John Ross in England." Bobby said, leading Cliff into the dining room.

"I see," Cliff said, then it hit him, "Wait, did you say J.R. has left town?"

"That’s what I said, he left this morning, and I don't know where he went, or when he will be back, and that is kinda why I want to talk to you." Bobby said, sitting down at his usual seat at the dining room dinner. Cliff sat down across from Bobby, in J.R.’s seat.

"I can't believe that J.R. is gone," Cliff started to laugh out loud.

"That is the best news I have had all day, after hearing about Carter McKay."

"What about Mac?" Bobby asked.

"Oh you didn't hear? Carter is back in the big chair at West Star."

"That’s something I didn't figure on, well, good luck." Bobby said, as he pulled a fork full of mashed potatoes to his mouth.

"Oh yeah, and if the reason you asked me here was because you want Ewing

Oil back, forget it. I got it for good now." Cliff said.

"Cliff I sold Ewing Oil, and even though I don't like the fact that your using the name, it is your company. The reason I asked you here was because I might have something else to sell you. J.R. has temporarily left me his company and if I have the right, I am going to sell it, and I thought I would sell it to you. Bobby said looking at Cliff.

"Well, I'll be..." Cliff was really getting excited.

"So I guess that would be a yes." Bobby said with a big grin on his face.

"That is a big yes," Cliff said, "I'll get the proper paper work and...."

"I don’t think so." Someone cut off Cliff. Both him and Bobby turned to see James standing in the doorway.

"James?" Bobby said, "what are you doing here?" James looked at Bobby then Cliff.

"I got a call from J.R. early this morning, he said that he needed me here and that was all he said, after hearing your conversation, I guess I know what is going on." James moved into the dinning room and sat down.

"Well, Bobby, I guess I won't buy the company," Cliff said, looking at James. All three men just looked at each other, wandering what would happen next.

The word about J.R. spread quickly through Dallas, and everyone had different reactions. Bu the one it affected the most is the man that came back to Dallas to get revenge on J.R. The man sat in a chair at the Fairview, reading the Dallas Newspaper.

"I can't believe it!!" The man said, "After all this time, I'm finally able to get my revenge, and he's gone!" The man stood up and walked over to a briefcase that was sitting on the bed, the briefcase had pictures, upon pictures of J.R. Ewing.

"If I can't get him, then I'll get the ones that care most about him." The man started to laugh..
