(This story begins the morning after after the Thanksgiving episode).....
Scene I:
Felicity is sitting straight up in her bed with her arms wrapped around a pillow deep in thought. Sound of knocking on the door. Felicity looks around nervously and desperately tries to straighten her hair into a semblance of normality.
Felicity: "Come in!"
Enter Julie: "Hey! Glad to see you are up!" Julie looks at felicity biting her lip. "Um.. can I ask you a question?"
Felicity: "Sure."
Julie: "Why were you so freaked out last night? What was that whole scene about having to hyperventilate???"
Felicity sighs: "Well, Noel came and found me in the bathroom last night when I was washing dishes."
Julie: "Yeah, I know. He said that you and Hanna were making him crazy and I told him that was normal."
Felicity: "Oh. Well............ He was trying to apologize and I went all weird on him and was screaming about NOT being jealous of Hanna...... and then he kissed me. (Felicity looks up dreamily) And then he just looked at me with this wonderfully sweet expression on his face, and something came over me and I just threw myself into his arms and.......OH MAN.....it was just incredible!!"
Julie with a totally surprised expression: Oh my God! What did he say afterwards?
Felicity: "Actually nothing, it's like we suddenly just realized what we were doing...my god with Hanna there and all... and I just took off."
Julie smiling: "Well....... what now? Have you talked to him today?"
Felicity: "No, he said something last night to Ben about having to leave early today to take Hanna to the airport."
Julie: "Sooooooooo, how do you feel about all this?" (Tips her head inquiringly with a slight smile on her face.)
Felicity throws her hands up in the air: "I'm so confused!!!! I thought that he and I were just friends, you know? And then when I saw him with Hanna I just kinda saw red........even though she is really nice. He is always there for me and I just couldn't deal with the fact that he had a girlfriend. And the way he kisses is just.....WOW, I mean, I never expected that kind of passion from him or for him. I really don't know where this is leading.... I mean, what did he tell Hanna??? How can he stay with her after this?"
Julie: "Yeah, I know what you mean. You can just tell by the way he looks at you that he is just head over heels....... Hmmmmm.... you'll have to let me know what happens."
Felicity: "Yeah, I will....... I hope he comes back soon...... I need to talk to him so badly...... and it feels great to know that now I can again...but I'm pretty nervous just the same."
Scene II
Cut to Ben's apartment. The buzzer starts ringing.
Sean: "You'll get it ......"
Ben is in the middle of a PlayStation game and Sean is just sitting there.
Ben good naturedly: "Yeah, Yeah...... Ya know every once in awhile you could get off your lazy butt. And by the way.....GIMME BACK MY DAMN DEODORANT!!!"
Ben hits buzzer: "What's up?"
Voice over intercom: "Um, Ben?"
Ben: "Yeah?"
Voice: "Ben, it's Noel. Do you mind if I come up?"
Ben looks confused: "Sure." Unlocks the door. Noel comes up.
Ben: "Come on in. Are you looking for Felicity? She's not here."
Noel, looking kind of desperate: "No. I, um, just dropped Hanna off at the airport. I haven't been back to the dorm yet."
Noel looks around and sticks his hands in his pocket and kind of rocks back and forth looking at the floor.
Ben, looking really confused now: "Ok, let me get this straight. You just dropped Hanna off and you haven't been to the dorm, and you are here why????"
Noel grimaces and starts rubbing his neck.
Ben: "Hey man, you don't look so good. Do you want some coffee?"
Noel: "Actually, that sounds good, thanks."
Ben pours the coffee and they sit at the kitchen bar.
Noel: "This is really stupid my coming here."
Ben, getting extremely frustrated: "Look man, if you have something to say, just say it. If not, I have some stuff I need to get back to."
Noel: "You're right, I'm sorry. It's just ........ I don't know how to put this. Ummmm... (craning his neck around)..... Last night I kissed Felicity and Hanna and I broke up."
Ben: "Yeah, I know."
This time it's Noel looking confused: "You...you know?"
Ben: "Yeah, I walked in to wash up before dinner and saw you two. It was pretty hot and heavy so I didn't want to interrupt you." Ben chuckles.....
Noel looks off into space with a slight smile and mumbles: "Yeah, that was really kinda outlook good there...."
Ben: "What?"
Noel shakes his head: "Nevermind. That's kinda why I'm here today and all. You know Felicity likes you right?"
Ben looks a little amused: "Um, yeah, I kinda got that sort of feeling.....why?"
Noel: "Well, to be honest, I think I'm falling in love with her. And I wanted (scratches his forehead), no, needed to know how you felt about her."
Noel looks Ben straight in the eye: "I don't want to start something with her if your presence is going to be breathing down my neck all the time!"
Ben squints his eyes: "So basically you came here to check out the competition?"
Noel still staring right at Ben: "Yes. That's exactly what I need to know."
Ben starts drumming his fingers on the table: "Look, I really think Felicity is a nice girl and all, and she is a wonderful friend."
Noel: "And........?"
Ben: "But she confuses me a lot. I'm not a smart guy, and I can't show her all the feelings she shows for me, and half the time she drives me nuts and I can't even talk to her without feeling dumb. I think you're more her style. You're really intelligent and , I don't know, just better for her I guess."
Noel, looking really relieved: "Ok, that's all I needed to know. Thanks, really I mean it. I've really got to go talk to her now." Gets up and walks out the door.
In the meantime.... Ben is looking totally shocked by what he has just said. Just as the door closes Ben jumps up and sprints over to it. But Noel is already gone. Ben leans his head against the door looking really upset.
Scene III:
Felicity is pacing around her room. She wants to look good for Noel when he gets back so she grabs a really great green sweater out of her closet. "There," she thinks, "It brings out my eyes." She continues pacing, blowing the hair out of her eyes in frustration. "God. Why am I so nervous? Calm down Felicity. It's only Noel, I see him everyday." She smiles then, remembering the kiss. "But then again, not like that!"
The phone rings.......
Felicity: "Hello?"
Ben: "Hi Felicity, it's Ben."
Felicity: "Hey, watcha doin'?"
Ben: "Nothing much I just, um , wanted to see how you're doing."
Felicity: "Fine, just kinda hanging out, the usual you know."
Ben: "Right. Listen, there's something I need to talk to you about."
Felicity gives the phone a strange look: "Really? What?"
Ben, taking a deep breath: "Well, it's kinda important, but um....."
Ben hears knocking coming from the phone. Felicity yells out.
Felicity: "Who is it?"
Noel: "It's Noel."
Felicity into the phone: "Hey Ben, sorry, Noel's here. I really gotta go now. Did you want me to call you later about this?"
Ben, frustrated: "No. Just forget about it, I guess it wasn't that important anyway. I'll talk to you in class."
Felicity, distracted: "Oh, ok.......bye!"
Noel pokes his head around the door smiling mischievously....
Noel: "Hi! Can I come in?"
Felicity nervously smiling: "Yeah, I mean of course!"
Noel walks all the way into the room so Felicity can see he has two huge bouquets of flowers in his hands. Felicity's eyes widen...
Felicity: "Wow! Those are......those are really beautiful. Um.... that's a lot of flowers!"
Noel, laughing depreciatingly: "Yeah, well, you know me. I took forever standing at the shop trying to decide which you would like better...... Sooooooo, I bought them both.
Felicity smiles: "Well, thank you." She rummages through her drawers and finds a vase and then pours half the water from the avocado pit jar into it. She then tries to stick both bouquets into the vase but is having some trouble. They both start laughing and Noel comes to help her. They finally get it together and just stand there staring at each other.
Noel: "There are two things I want to kinda out of the way here. First things first. Hanna and I broke up. It's a long convoluted story but pretty much, Hanna has found someone else too. It's kind of sad but I actually was really relieved......."
Felicity, trying not to look hopeful: "You....you were?"
Noel staring at her: "Yeah. Which brings me to the second thing....."
Noel puts his arms around her and looks down at her with a tender look.....
Noel: "Felicity. You know how I feel about you. I really really think we can have something good here. And, and......"
Noel draws her closer and starts kissing her slowly and tenderly. After a few moments they break apart and Noel takes her face in his hands....
Noel: "Felicity..... is this okay? Is this what you want? No freaking out, no drawing back, this is definitely not an open option situation. It's either me or not. I can't handle being second best to anyone in your eyes. So I guess, I guess this is my ultimatum."
Felicity, smiling and looking shy: "Yes. This is what I want. It took Hanna to come here for me to really figure this out. And as for being here with you like this.... it's an unbelievable feeling......."
As the scene ends.... they just stand there holding each other and smiling wide....... and then the phone starts to ring.............
*And that's the end of this one, as if it wasn't long enough already :) *
