110 - Modern Romance - Double Date

Joey tells Dawson he has to get over life after Jen. She tells him of how he will be viewed, the fact that Jen will date again, and that they will have a conversation over friendship. Dawson doesn't know if he wants to be her friend. "How can you simply be friends with someone, when all you think about is how you want more?", Dawson asks. Joey thinks it can be done.

Mitch is angry that Bob called Gale to ask her something at home.

Jen runs into Dawson in the halls and asks him if they can still be friends. He needs time to think about it. Pacey tells Dawson that he should show her that he is over her. Pacey is told to see the teacher after class over his mid-term biology mark. He got a 32. The teacher wants him to work on a project with another student, to be worked on on their own time. His partner is Joey. They aren’t happy.

Dawson tells Jen that he wants to be friends. Jen tells Dawson that she has a date with Cliff this weekend at the carnival. He tells her he also has a date this weekend at the carnival, and they should double.

Dawson asks Mary-Beth (girl from his Biology class) if she will go out with him this weekend on a date. She warns him that often, people start dating too soon after a breakup and they aren’t ready yet. He says he is ready.

Joey and Pacey are observing the reproductive process of snails under different conditions. Pacey says he won't go to summer school with all the other dufas's. Joey points out that with his present grade, he will and very well may be their leader.

Mitch asks Dawson if anyone called that he should know about. Dawson tells him no.

Joey is yelling at Pacey 'cause all of their snails died. Pacey says he has a reason. This experiment was about seeing what environment was best. So Pacey added food, water and nothing was happening. So, he thought the problem wasn't the environment, but the snails just didn't like each other. Joey points out that the snails are single-sex. They don't need another organism to reproduce. Pacey thought that snails were like guys and their ultimate fantasy is to be with two female snails. He tried to create a snail ménage à trois. He saw a really pretty snail by the window so he put it in. Joey points out that it was a snail that eats other snails.

Joey tells Dawson that it's obvious he's just using Mary-Beth to make Jen jellous. He know he is, but he's not himself lately. Dawson says he wishes he was taking Joey with him. She wishes that too. Pacey arrives in the pickup truck. Him and Joey are going to find more snails.

At the carnival, Dawson and Mary-Beth meet. Shortly after, Dawson introduces Cliff and Jen to her. Mary-Beth asks for a word with Dawson. She says that Dawson is still hung up on Jen. He says he isn't.

Pacey and Joey are in a row-boat while they look for snails. Pacey asks her what her mid-term mark was. She doesn't want to say.

Dawson has told Mary-Beth that he is helping Jen out by doubling with her. Mary-Beth is happy for Dawson.

Joey tells Pacey to get the boat ready. They turn around to see that boat drifting away. Pacey forgot to tie it up.

Dawson and Cliff are playing a carnival game. Dawson finally wins a prize. Dawson doesn't know who to give it to. Mary-Beth or Jen?

Pacey and Joey are walking through the cold water, arms deep. When they get out, Pacey says they have to get out of their wet clothes or they will get sick. All they will wear is a blanket. Pacey finishes changing first. He gets in the truck. He looks out the side window to see Joey's bare backside. Pacey is smiling when Joey enters. He tells her she isn't half bad to be around once she loosened up. Almost fun.

Dawson apologizes to Mary-Beth for lying. The reason she came on the date is because she has a crush on Cliff.

Pacey asks Joey again for her mark. She got a 98. She wants a scholarship to get her out of Capeside. Pacey says that she will go off to some school and send him postcards to his gas-bar job. Don't bet against that Potter girl.

Dawson is riding the Ferris wheel with Jen, and Mary-Beth with Cliff. The ride comes to a stop. Mary-Beth says it's fascinating that the word flammable and inflammable mean the exact same thing. Cliff doesn't have much to say. Dawson reminds Jen that the reason they broke up is because she wanted to be alone, and stop seeing men. Why didn't she say that she wasn't tired of men, but tired of Dawson?

Dawson sees Joey and Pacey at the carnival together. Pacey says he needs to talk to Dawson alone. Pacey says that he likes Joey more than just a friend. Pacey asks Dawson’s permission. Dawson doesn't know why he need permission. He says he's cool with his two best friends kissing. He then says he isn't cool with it. He then says he's all right with it now. Pacey goes off, leaving Dawson alone.

Pacey says he had a nice time, and kisses Joey. She pushes him off. Joey said she had a nice time too, but not that nice.

Gale and Mitch are holding each other and swaying. The phone rings. Mitch tells her to let it ring.

Dawson enters the video store and tells Pacey not to kiss Joey. Pacey tells him he's a little late. They kissed for about an hour, then she invited him in, but it was gettin late. Dawson tells him he's full of it. Pacey tells Dawson that he "exerts way to much time and energy on a girl [he] calls his friend." Does he like Jen or Joey? Time for some answers.
