112 - Breaking Away
Joey comes through the window. Dawson is surprised. He didn't get any videos from the store. They can watch old re-runs. Joey says she just dropped by to say she couldn't drop by. Dawson turns on the TV. It's a cliffhanger on TV. Joey says nothing ever changes in cliffhangers. "What if this time in the cliffhanger something changes? Don't want to miss that now would ya?" "Still sounds like one big tease to me Dawson."
Grams is talking to Gramps about life and Jen. No change in him so far. Same sleep he's been in for the last 3 months. As Jen leaves, Gramps says good-bye to Jen.
Jen is relieved. Joey needs a passport. The faculty has decided to give her the opportunity to go to France next semester. She has two days to decide.
Bessie is proud of Joey. She says that Dad will be too when she tells him all about it. It's his birthday and it's Joey's turn to visit.
Pacey is pulled over by Doug. Dad's a little worried over the fact that Pacey's failing all his classes. "Tell dad that the concern is appreciated. But he should save it for the closet case with a gun". One day, Pacey's going to wake up and realize that he's just a bad punch line that nobody's laughing at.
Dawson is going to go with Joey on the bus to the prison. She hasn't seen him for 2 years. If going to Paris makes Joey happy, then Dawson would be happy for her. They missed visiting hours by 5 minutes. They just spent 4 hours on the bus to get here.
Dawson and Joey stay overnight at a motel. They get ready to go to bed. Dawson's a little nervous. It's the first time they've ever slept together in a foreign bed. Dawson says he'll sleep on the floor. Joey stops him. "What's the big deal Dawson?" He tells her he'd really miss her if she left. She'd miss him too. He wants to know what's going on between them.
Joey doesn't want to be alone with her dad. Joey isn't too mice to him. She doesn't want to talk to anyone. He missed his family. Joey tells him she's going to Paris. Joey leaves. Mr. Potter wants Dawson to tell anything and everything about Joey. He tells about Joey's personality. He says she's more than his best friend.
Gramps has had another stroke. Grams want's to pray. She explains to Jen the use of prayer.
Joey tells Pacey he should talk to his dad about his feelings. Pacey asks if that is what she did today. No. She decides she has to go, now, and see her father. Can Pacey steal his Dad's car and take her? Sure, but he calls it borrowing.
The guard at the prison won't let them in. Pacey has a talk with him and he agrees to let them go in. Pacey slipped him $20.
Jen climbs into Dawson's room. She's upset. She feels like she'd loosing everybody. she wants to sleepover, with Dawson, like Joey does. Dawson accepts. Jen lays her head on Dawson's chest and cries. Dawson assures her it will be OK.
Joey meets her Dad at the prison fence. She tells him that he messed up. She wants to know if he loves her? More than she'll ever know, he does. They have a tear filled conversation. He's not the only one who loves her. Dawson Leery. He loves her. Dawson looks at her the same way Joey's mother looked at Mr. Potter. He tells her to tell him that she loves him. They hold hands through the fence.
Jen is laying on Dawson still. She kisses him when Joey comes through the window. Joey runs away. Dawson goes after her. Jen tries to stop him.
Jen goes home. Grams invites her to go to church with her. She turns her down.
Dawson and Joey play a game of cat and mouse. He goes around the city looking for her, just missing her,
Jen gets a phonecall. It's the hospital. He's gone.
Grams is in the church, when Jen enters. She looks around then sits beside Grams. They hold each other and cry.
Dawson finds Joey in his closet. He explains to her that him and Jen have nothing. Joey asks why he needs to tell that to her, they are just friends. Dawson says that's not true. "What are we Dawson?" They spend too much time analyzing. "It's time to grow up Dawson." Is Joey going to France? Leaving town makes the most sense to her. Dawson objects. Why should she stay? "Is there some New Release at the video store I should know about?" He can grow up. "Even Spielberg outgrew his Peter-Pan syndrome." "I could have told you that months ago." "You did." They want to be honest with each other, but can they live with that? Joey is about to leave, but Dawson grabs her arm, and kisses her passionately on the lips. They can be seen kissing through Dawson's bedroom window.
