200 - The Kiss

The camera zoom back into Dawson's room, with them kissing still. "Now what?" Joey says "maybe we could... " then stops as she sits down on the end of his bed. "What were you going to say?" "Nothing! I don't know?" “You were going to say we shouldn't have done that." "Actually, Dawson, I don't have a thought in my head, but apparently that's what your thinking." "No, no." "Look, lets sleep on it. Not together! You in your bed, me in mine!" "Right. Obviously. We'll sleep on it, and when we wake up this will all be a dream." "Like it never happened?" "Is that what you want?" "Is that what you want? Okay. POOF! Didn't happen Dawson. Talk to you later." "Joey! Don't even think of climbing through that window" They kiss again.

Joey and Dawson are in their beds. They wake up and have smiles across their faces. Gale tells Mitch that she still has time before work. She climbs on top of him in bed. Mitch has a meeting though. He leaves.

Bessie and Joey's truck gets a flat. Bessie notices that Joey is in a happy mood. “Where were ya last night?" "Nowhere... Dawson's." "We need to talk."

Dawson got Pacey up early to tell him all about it at the hair salon. Joey tells Bessie about it at the same time Dawson tells Pacey. "I thought you and Joey were going to act out, this whole will they won't they drama for years. Sam and Diane: They didn't even get together for at least four seasons. Mulder and Scully: They haven’t even kissed. If you and Joey can get past this whole romantic checkmate you've been in for god knows how many years, anything is possible. I can be Pacey Witter, bad ass stud. I can score with high quality chicks. Cristy Livingston par example." "Senior Cheerleader? Let's not abandon all sense of reality here." "I need a new look. How 'bout you say, you frost my tips or something?"

Pacey goes over, with his new blond hair, and hops into a cop car. He sees Cristy walking away, so he goes to pull a U-turn in the street. He hits someone in their car going down the street. (watch where your going next time Pacey) They both get out and take a look. The young lady is so sorry for hitting this officers car. Pacey even has the cop sun-glasses on. Pacey's going to have to see her license and registration. Andie McPhee. Rhode Island Drivers License. They just moved to town. Pacey says he should take her in and book her. Officer Pacey's coming after her if she causes anymore trouble.

At school, a teacher walks away from Joey in the hall. Dawson arrives. She thinks she may have made the biggest mistake of her life. France. She said she just wasn't going to go. They giggle and hug. "Joey Potter's staying around Capeside for some guy?" "If your lucky, I'll introduce you to him." "Well, he's a very lucky guy" They decide to concentrate on the simple stuff. Like a date. “I don’t know Dawson? I was going to watch TV tonight. I hear Luke Perry’s back on 90210.” “The Rialto’s closing. It’s the last show and I think that we should go.” Jen arrives. She tells them of how her Gramps died last night. She decides to head home. Joey tells him to go see if she’s OK. Joey is left standing alone in the hall.

Pacey is telling some guys about the cop routine he pulled on Andie. They are happy for him. Andie is behind him listening. She then confronts the scum known as Officer Pacey. She says she’s calling the police for impersonating an officer. Pacey doesn’t care, as his Dad’s the town Sheriff. Cristy walks down the hall. Andie and her say hi to each other. Andie says she can set up an intro for them.

Jen comes home to find Grams packing up Gramps clothes to give away. He just died yesterday. They haven’t even buried him. Grams tells of how for months she prayed for his recovery, but as he got worse, she prayed for his release. “He’s gone. He’s been gone.”

Gale is running home. She explains to Mitch why she is late. Mitch has to go. He has an appointment that just came up.

Andie is talking to Cristy outside. Andie walks over to Pacey and says she’s ready. Pacey sings to himself, “There once was a girl named Cristy. Thought of her nude made me misty. A night on the town. We’ll both get down. By the end of the night she’d have kissed me” Pacey wants to know if they have a future together, and he asks her out on a date. She agrees.

Mitch is sitting in a lobby. A secretary says he’s ready to see him now. The secretary then picks up the phone. She says to the person on the other end that they specialize in Divorce.

Jen is sitting outside. Dawson brings over a meal from his mom. He’s dresses up. He’s going to the Rialto. Her Grams is going to the Rialto too. He’s taking Joey. It will always be Dawson and Joey. “How about Dawson and Jen?”, she asks. Dawson offers to be her friend.

Joey is waiting on her dock. Bessie comes over and sits beside Joey. Joey thinks it’s weird that Dawson and her are going on a date. Bessie says the second kiss is always tougher than the first one, as you have time to think about it. She’ll get that second kiss.

Dawson is riding down the creek in a new motor boat. Joey is dressing up. When Dawson parks the boat, he pulls a flower from the grass and gives it to Joey. Dawson is relieved that they won’t have to worry about the first kiss at the end of the date. Joey says that they have to worry about checking into a room, and going at it like porn stars all night. Dawson asks if he can start of simple and hold her hand.

At the Rialto, Joey says they will probably replace the theater with something boring. Dawson says that all movie watching will be restricted to his bedroom. Too bad for them. They hold hands as soon as the movie begins.

Pacey sings his Cristy song to himself again. He looks at his watch. She’s late.

An usher shows Jen to a seat, beside Dawson. She wants to go to the Icehouse later and pick up some food, unless she’d not welcome. Dawson tries to explain. Jen gets up and leaves. Dawson says he’ll be right back, and leaves.

In the lobby, Jen tells the metaphor of how they went to their first date in this theater, and now they are tearing it down. Jen is upset about her whole life here. She feels that she showed Dawson who he is really in love with. Dawson returns to his seat to see the flower he gave Joey on her seat. No Joey.

Pacey is still waiting for Cristy. she shows up. Pacey reschedules what he had planned for the night. She can’t go with him. Her boyfriend is waiting in the car. Tonight’s there 5 week anniversary. She forgot. She had to stop by and tell him how brave she thinks he is, for living with that condition Andie told her about. His heart-stripe he has that at any moment can strangle his heart and he’ll stop breathing. She goes back to her boyfriends truck. Pacey is left to wonder when he got this “heart-stripe”.

At the Rialto, Jen doesn’t leave when everyone clears out. Grams says hi to her. Jen doesn’t like how Grams is acting. Jen is upset about her life. She’d in this new town and she has no friends. Sad thing is that Grams may be the best friend she has, just not sure she likes her. Grams tells of her first date with Gramps at the Rialto.

Pacey is in the corner store. Andie tells him he should be in bed, a man of his condition. Andie made up a heart-stripe. Pacey thought he could change his un-lucky ways. That’s why he changed his hair. She tells him not to use peroxide, but to use this coloring. Pacey isn’t sure if she’s being honest with him, Just have to take that chance.

Gale confronts Mitch about what he can gain from lying. She holds up a card from the lawyers office. Mitch isn’t sure he can stay married to a woman he loves and hates, in equal measure. He wants to know what his options are, and which one to take.

Dawson finds Joey on the dock in the park. He tells he again that he has no feelings for Jen. She says it’s OK. Joey didn’t go to France, because that would have been the easy way out. Dawson says they can have some of France in Capeside. They sit on “Le swingset”. “French fries...” “French toast...” “French doors...” They lean over and kiss. “French kiss” The second kiss. They are replacing the Rialto with a bigger, better theater. “Why do they have to change something if it already works?”; Joey asks. “`Cause maybe it will work even better.” Dawson is in the mood for a third kiss. They do. He knows that they will have a simple relationship.
