MARINA MOTEL/EVENING
ALLI faces her mother defiantly. SEAN stands behind Alli, his
eyes on JAKE. AMANDA seems speechless for a moment.
ALLI
(holding up her hands)
Mom, before you start yelling-
To everyone's surprise, Amanda suddenly bursts into tears. She
grabs Alli in a hug, holding her tightly.
AMANDA
(between sobs)
Don't you EVER do that to me again, Alli. I was afraid something
horrible had happened to you. Don't you realize that I could
never go on without you? I couldn't live if something had
happened to you?
Alli begins to cry into Amanda's shoulder.
ALLI
I'm sorry, Mom…I'm so sorry. I just felt like everything was
wrong and it wouldn't matter to you if I stayed or went-
AMANDA
YOU matter to me, Alexandra! You should know that.
Amanda holds her out at arm's length.
AMANDA (cont'd)
Are you okay? You two haven't gotten into any trouble, have you?
Sean steps forward.
SEAN
We're fine. We sort of ran out of cash, though…
JAKE
Your father is worried about you, Sean.
SEAN
But you and Vicky weren't, I bet…
JAKE
Sean…Vicky and I have been frantic over your disappearance.
You may not realize it, but you're a part of the family now, and
when you left, we all felt it.
SEAN
No one acted like it when I was there.
JAKE
That will change, I promise. But you've also got to understand
that there are rules you'll have to live by…we're willing to
work with you, Sean, but you've got to do the same. And things
like having marijuana in the house with two young kids around,
plus with two babies coming in…that can't happen.
SEAN
That was stupid, I admit it. But it was only that one time. It
won't happen again.
FRANK
(glancing at his watch)
I hate to rush the reunions, but if you guys want to catch the
next flight, we need to hurry.
AMANDA
Right. Alli, you and I are going to go check out and pay the
bill. Sean, can you pack everything up?
SEAN
Yeah…
He goes back into the room, followed by Jake. As they begin to
put things into the backpacks, Jake's cell phone rings.
JAKE
Hello?
CUT TO:
BCUH/EVENING
VICKY sits on a hospital bed.
VICKY
Jake? Where are you?
JAKE
Vick? We're going to the airport now. We found the kids.
VICKY
(almost in tears)
Great. Because OUR kids are on the way. You need to get back here
as soon as you can, Jake. I'm in labor.
JAKE
Oh, God, now, Vicky?
VICKY
(angrily)
Yes, now! I can't exactly stop them from coming!
JAKE
We're on the next flight, I promise. Hold on, honey, I'm on my
way.
VICKY
Hurry, Jake.
JAKE
I will…I love you.
VICKY
I love you, too…
Her voice trails off as Jake snaps the cell phone shut.
JAKE
We have to go NOW. Vicky's in labor.
They begin to pack faster.
CUT TO:
BCUH/SAME EVENING
DONNA walks into VICKY'S room, a pitcher of water in her hands.
DONNA
Did you get hold of Jake?
VICKY
(nodding through her tears)
He's getting here as soon as he can. But what if it's not fast
enough?
DONNA
He'll be here, Vicky. He won't miss the girls' birth.
VICKY
Why did he have to go? Why couldn't he just stay here and let
Amanda handle it?
DONNA
Honey, they had to get those kids home. I know Jake didn't want
to leave you-
VICKY
So you're taking his side?
DONNA
There are no sides, sweetie. It was a matter of one crisis coming
up and the timing was bad.
VICKY
If Sean hadn't run away in the first place, Jake would be here.
DONNA
Sweetheart, Jake will be here.
VICKY
I wish I could be sure of that. Where's Marley?
DONNA
She's talking to John to see if we can get a blood test today.
VICKY
Blood test? For what?
DONNA
To prove whether or not Lila is really my sister.
VICKY
You really want to find out?
DONNA
I need to know, Victoria.
VICKY
I can't believe we might be related to her-
She stops talking, leaning over as a pain hits her.
VICKY(Cont'd)
Oh, God, this hurts…
Donna lets Vicky grip her hand, watching her worriedly.
CUT TO:
LORNA’S HOUSE/SAME NIGHT
JENNA crosses her arms over her chest, glaring at LORNA.
JENNA
I don’t know what you’re talking about.
LORNA
Hayley doesn’t know your personality, so she might think
that this intense dislike of her that you’re projecting is
normal—
JENNA
When did I say I disliked her?!?
LORNA
You certainly haven’t done anything to make her think you
like her, Jenna! God, you’ve treated her like some unwanted
puppy! You might not like it, but she’s our SISTER.
JENNA
(sarcastically)
As you and Felicia have both practically BEATEN into my head!
LORNA
So what’s the problem?
JENNA
Absolutely NOTHING! Perfect little Hayley has obviously won her
spots in yours and Felicia’s hearts, why even bother asking
my opinion?
FELICIA enters the house, followed by SERGEI, stopping in shock
at Jenna’s words.
FELICIA
I’d like to know what your opinion is.
Jenna whirls around to see her mother standing in the doorway,
tapping her feet.
JENNA
Oh, God…
Sergei, sensing the tension, goes over to GABRIELLE and picks her
up.
SERGEI
Come on, little girl. We will go play in your room.
With a backwards glance at Felicia and her daughters, he takes
Gabrielle from the room.
Felicia moves into the room, tossing her purse onto the couch,
anger evident in her expression.
FELICIA
Would you like to explain that last comment, Jenna?
JENNA
(defensively)
Why should I? It’s not like my opinion mattered when you
took the Little Match Girl in, anyway. Why will it matter now?
LORNA
What the hell is your problem? You’ve been in California!
You haven’t even been here, you don’t even KNOW Hayley!
JENNA
Maybe I don’t WANT to know her! Maybe I already KNOW what
she’s about!
FELICIA
(quietly)
Jenna, I don’t know why you’re reacting this way, but
you are extremely out of line.
JENNA
Oh, really, Mom? How long did it take for you to call me when you
found out about Hayley? It took days. And then it was “Hi,
Jenna, you have a new sister. Lucas had a kid none of us knew
about. And she’s nineteen, unmarried, and pregnant. Oh,
yeah, and we’re crazy about her already. You will be, too.
Bye!”. How the hell do you expect me to react, Mom?
LORNA
(sarcastically)
Is it a jealousy issue, Jenna? You shouldn’t have to worry
about that. Lucas is dead. You don’t have to vie for his
attention with Hayley.
JENNA
That was low, Lorna.
LORNA
No lower than you coming in here and immediately assuming that
Hayley’s a gold digger.
JENNA
I never said that—
LORNA
--Not in so many words. But it’s what you’ve meant.
JENNA
Okay. You want to know what I think?
LORNA
Enlighten us.
JENNA
I think it’s awfully convenient for sweet little Hayley to
suddenly find her family when she’s pregnant and practically
penniless. I think it’s convenient that she just happens to
find out that her father’s widow and her two older sisters
are fairly well-off, when she’s working as a hostess in a
restaurant for almost minimum wage. I think she’s an
irresponsible teenager who got herself into a jam and couldn’t
get herself out of it, so she decided to sponge off of a family
she had no interest in before.
HAYLEY walks into the house, TITO behind her. She hears the last
speech of Jenna’s, her face growing redder and redder as
Jenna continues ranting. When Jenna stops talking, she speaks.
HAYLEY
Is that what you think of me, Jenna?
Lorna, Jenna, and Felicia all turn to stare at Hayley.
